Update: FIFA 22's 10-hour free trial is now live with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate! You can access it by searching for FIFA 22 on the Xbox Store and finding the 'Free Trial' button on your chosen version of the game.
Keep in mind that if you've pre-loaded FIFA 22 with the Xbox mobile app ahead of time, you'll need to follow the same instructions before you'll be allowed to start playing. Otherwise, you'll be told you don't own the game. If you're asked where to install the game to, make sure you choose the same storage device you've already installed it on.
(We had to hit the 'Free Trial' button twice before it worked for us)
Enjoy!
Original story: One of the great perks of EA Play being part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is that we get access to loads of games at no extra charge, and we also get free trials of upcoming games such as the highly-anticipated FIFA 22.
The latest entry in EA's popular series doesn't technically release until October 1, but starting this Wednesday (September 22), you can get your hands on ten hours of unrestricted gameplay with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
What Time Does FIFA 22's Free Trial Start On EA Play?
As revealed by EA, the FIFA 22 EA Play trial will begin at 10am PT / 6pm BST on Wednesday, September 22. It will be a 10-hour trial, and as far as we know, players will be able to try the full game with no locked access whatsoever.
How To Pre-Install The FIFA 22 Trial With EA Play
There's no official way to pre-install FIFA 22 with EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but if you've already pre-ordered the game, you should have it ready to go on your system already. If you haven't pre-ordered it, you can instead use the official Xbox mobile app and hit 'Download to Console' in order to get it ready ahead of time.
Keep in mind that if you do this, there are two different versions of FIFA 22 - one is for Xbox One, and the other is for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. You can download them both if you want to (be aware that certain content doesn't transfer between the two), so you can get a total of 20 hours across the two versions.
If you fancy pre-ordering the game ahead of time, here are all the relevant details:
- FIFA 22 Xbox One - £59.99 / $59.99
- FIFA 22 Xbox Series X, Series S - £69.99 / $69.99
- FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition - £89.99 / $89.99 (access to all versions)
Powered by Football™, EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 on Xbox Series X|S moves the game forward with the groundbreaking next-gen HyperMotion technology that elevates every moment on the pitch.

Just to add to this, it's been confirmed you get a 10 hour trial for each version.
So if on Series X/S, you can get a total of 20 hours by downloading both the last gen and current gen versions.
Very helpful if you want to start your Ultimate Team ahead of full game release.
@blinx01 Ah fantastic, thanks for sharing! Will update.
I only ever really play a few hours a year of FIFA, either if a friend visits and wants to play or if I'm in the mood (big tournaments on TV help trigger it).
So the 10 hour free trials basically last me until it hits EA Play properly lol - thanks GP
The fact that its 20 hours is awesome.
What about Gameshare? I use my brother's GPU membership as a gameshare partner, do I get this trial?
I remember last year I could not and found it weird.
Correction: The trial starts at 6pm BST, not 5pm BST.
Apologies for the confusion!
@Vidorra I'm not sure about this, someone else might be able to shed some light on it.
