I'm definitely intrigued by this new controller. Can't wait to finally use it. As big a deal as everybody at Nintendo Life makes about the U's gamepad, I'm actually much more interested in the X1's controller and Dualshock4. I think both MS and Sony seem to have done a terrific job improving already near-perfect controllers without going too crazy.
I think I might end up spending a fair bit on digital on day one, too. Powerstar Golf (I CANNOT resist a golf game), LocoCycle, and Crimson Dragon are on the cards for sure.
I played the final build of Crimson Dragon on 360 before it was canned (I'm allowed to say that now that it's been shifted to the Xbox One, I think!) and it was superb fun. Looked great and played well on 360, so I'm hoping it'll look even better on One and retain the sweet gameplay.

I'd agree with that. As much as it would get me lynched to say it over at Nintendo Life, I can't stand the Wii U gamepad. I'm a giant, and the controller is too big to use comfortably for long periods for me, so goodness knows how those with smaller hands put up with it.
The new Xbox One controller feels light years ahead. Makes the 360 controller feel like a brick in comparison.

LOL. Gutsy move doing that at NLife Ken. I really want to be impressed with Wii U but there's really nothing that has me wanting one right away and the Gamepad, while a cool concept, just isn't a great controller and a huge reason why this is the first Nintendo console I've had little to no interest in. If Super Mario 3D World were more like 64 or Galaxy I'd probably deal with it to play that game but instead it's really just Super Mario 3D Land HD and a remake of my least favorite Zelda game doesn't have me wanting to deal with that monstrosity either. I'm glad when I bring home my launch-day PS4, and the Xbox One hopefully sometime in 2014, that I'll have controllers I'm familiar with. There's nothing wrong with being different if you have a good idea but when you have something that's as close to perfect as you can get, there's nothing wrong sticking with that either.

Agreed in full.
I don't know about the Wii U, to be honest. I got one on day one, and played NSMBU and ZombiU (which was awesome) and Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing (mainly because it was the only game that actually allowed me to use my Pro Controllers) and then it all fell a bit flat for me. Lego City Undercover was disappointing, I thought. The slowdown and the rough-looking graphics really put me off.
Since then, not much has tempted me. I've picked up a few SNES virtual console titles, and I've got The Wonderful 101 sat on my desk waiting to be played, but I just can't see the machine getting out of the funk that it's in. Even if they release 5 absolute AAA titles by Christmas, I just can't see it.

Am I interpreting that right? Did you NOT like Racing Transformed?! If that's the case, I'm not so sure we can be friends anymore... :/
No, no, you've got the wrong end of the stick. I liked Racing Transformed - it has Ulala in it, so it was a slam dunk. I meant the rest of the Wii U catalogue fell a bit flat after that point.
Just saw the most recent NBA 2K14 next-gen trailer at PushSquare and it is stunning. Anybody with a slight interest in basketballmay want to add that to their day one list. I know I have.
