Naaaah I'm joshing, I've been addicted to the darn thing since launch night. This, is why I feel the need for a thread... a glorious thread, the be all and end of Pure Xbox reading Guardians helping the new, or even lesser acquainted ones.

What's the best way to experience the story?

What do I need to do daily/weekly on a basic level?

Let's keep it to basic beginner advice from veterans here.

My advice: DO NOT take up a faction and attribute your Vanguard or Crucible points there until you've cleared level 3 in both, don't get hasty. Create a secondary and if you've the hours to put in weekly, a tertiary Guardian. Resources for the main part are shared, as are weapons and currency that's limited. Using other characters of different classes helps level your main weapons up, and using one of each class makes it easier to accept when that exotic isn't for your class... Personally I think the best way to experience the story is solo. It may not have much of a story and much of it is told through your Ghost on the way to the mission so can be easily missed if chatting with friends.

I do think IF you plan to have 3 Characters, to start them fairly close to each other. Don't let one get too far ahead in terms of levelling as you can then pass weapons down to your other characters. If you focus too much on one you will soon have a vault full of level 20 weapons which can't be used by your other characters. I didn't let mine differ by more than 4 levels so the ones behind always had fully upgraded 'favourites' As soon as you reach level 4, do your daily bounties as that will help increase your level greatly.

Don't worry too much about the weapons and gear you have until you reach Level 20+ Its not worth investing time and resources in as it will be replaced and fairly quickly too. Its OK if you have lower level characters and they will use the weapons but unlikely that the armour will be useful if you have different classes.

Level is important as determines your damage to enemies in PvE. for example you do about a third less damage to enemies 1 level above you and around 50% less damage to those 2 levels above you so level up your character...

Anything else you want to know - don't be afraid to ask...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
