Topic: Game Night: Titanfall

Long ago in the mists of early 2015 legends speak of a time where warriors of all calibers would come together and tackle great obstacles in the name of pureXbox; the name of this wonderous time? Game Night.

Our scientists have discovered clips of heroic deeds in PVZ and Forza within the dusty confines of their Xbox cloud spaces and want to bring this time honoured tradition to our modern community. Yet interest must be gauged before these contests of wit, charm and tomfoolery can begin. This thread is an opportunity to shape how we in the pX community team interact with you now and in the future. To get the ball rolling here are a few starter questions:

Do you want to bring back games nights?
If so what would you want to play and when would you like to play it?
Would you mind if they were streamed to Twitch or do you prefer a closed doors evening between good friends?

For my two cents - I thoroughly enjoy games nights as they were where I built a great group of friends who I could depend on. At the risk of sounding mushy it's places like pX that foster a group of like-minded individuals who like the same games you do. In addition, their regular nature means you always have the opportunity to group up and play your favourites, boost for achievements and make new friends. I would very much like to see the games night return, at least on a 2 week basis, playing games like Titanfall, Destiny and Forza as well as newer games such as The Division and Tom Clancy's: Wildlands.

Yes, although I am beholden to the wife to keep things civil indoors. Windows 10 streaming may change this but it seems a bit lagging even with a wired connection to my 150ish meg Virgin broadband.
Any game I've got I would love to play.
I don't mind being famous for a couple of minutes with you guys and I can moderate my swearing so I don't get in trouble

With Gears of War on the horizon too I think this will be great!

I would but I don't have an Xbox One. However if you extend it to 360 (or PS4 if that's an option) I would be interested depending on the times.

There's potential for 360 titles, but definitely no PS4, I'm afraid.

We'll have to see what the interest is like for 360 stuff, but there's no reason why we couldn't play a few

I'm always up for multiplayer gaming if you're playing something I have. Just send me a message, I feel little need for structure! Though of course structure is helpful for planning and organisational purposes.

I figured PS4 was a no go but it doesn't hurt to ask. As it is my purchasing an Xbox One is on the back burner till Christmas time I am afraid since I need to save up to go to the Portland Retro Expo this October. But if 360 is an option I will be interested.

@Tasuki if we were to run some 360 games nights what games would you like to play?

With backwards compatibility, the 360 nights could be a goer...

Yesss at last Game Nigth hehe am up for some Halo any time but be easy on me, am not to good at it unlike Red lol. And some GOW on the 24th. 360 nigth would be fun to do.

Ok, so interest is there now we need to get down to brass tacks. When would you want these game nights to run. The current consensus among the community team is once every two weeks but what day?

Ok, this might be a bit of essay but this is much about me getting my head around it as it is getting us on the same page. The TL:DR version is at the bottom so feel free to scroll past the first two headings.

Summary so far

From the feedback it looks like there is definitely interest for game nights both from staffers as well as forumites, this which is a great! It helps us know what you guys are thinking and informs future site development.

The suggestion by @Tasuki for Xbox 360 games is one we will definitely be exploring further so even if you don’t have an Xbox One please get involved and suggest some games to play.

Currently it doesn’t appear that people are too worried about being broadcast on Twitch. Again, great stuff and nicely segues to the next section:

Proposal

As many of you know I currently stream for pureXbox on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I cannot take on responsibility for a Games Night in addition to these two slots so I have come up with a compromise with the community team.

I will convert one of my streams to a games night, either Tuesday or Thursday, some of which will be broadcast on Twitch, some will not.

@Blacksilver83 suggested the first one kicks off on 25th of August in time for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which is a cracking suggestion.

This would mean that Game Nights in the immediate future will take place on Tuesday, starting at 8pm and running until 10pm, with the date up for negotiation after a trial run of 3 nights (1.5 months).

You will be informed prior to the start of the event should it be broadcast on Twitch which will involve your voice being broadcast in party chat.

Your Input

With 1 week to go till GOW launch there is a little time to assess numbers. Are you getting GOW: Ultimate Edition and if so are you available on launch night, 25th August 2015 to play a few rounds?

Are you ok with the day and time and, if not, which day would you prefer?

For the dates/times I'm cool with that. I won't be getting GoW as I've got far too many games that are taking up my limited gaming time. I have a temperamental voice connection (which cuts me out of part chat and leaves the game sounds alone) but other than that I'm good to join in on either night for any games I've got. Also would be interested in the 360 games as well (assuming I've got them )

So I'd be interested in taking part my timezone makes things a bit tricky but I'm gonna try to make the 3 trial nights at least (hopefully my copy of GoW arrives by then)

@DesignateTurian: I will keep an eye on this thread for Xbox 360, I am thinking that it will probably be easier to handle once the Xbox One BC is fully implemented, so that's no worries for me, unless of course I get an Xbox One but that probably will happen at Christmas time.

I won't be getting Gears, but just wanted say it was great playing with you guys the other night, even though we didn't quite succeed, new and old voices alike.
