Who in here is planning on getting this? I've already got mine on pre-order as was only £12 as I had the PC version. If so, are we having a guild? I'm transferring (hopefully) all of my crafting characters, so should be good for everything up to (but not including) endgame weapons, armour and foodstuffs and aim to roll (at least 1) a new character for the Xbone playthrough.
If so, what alliances being chosen. If anyone plans on working together, it really HAS to be together (for main quests and some sub quests) as once you've completed a quest, the main enemies aren't even there for you. You can, however, complete nearly all of the content solo or with randoms.
I was thinking of pitching in for this as it looks great. However, I have been less than impressed with ZeniMax's payment policy and fear it will turn into another The Old Republic game (i.e. if you don't pay a subscription you don't have to but if you do there is free cake and pats on the back.)
Plus at £46 from GAME it's a bit steep especially after The Witcher. However, if I do pick this up I would be a Bosmer/Kajit Nightblade thus aligned with the Aldmeri Dominion
The sub just seems to net you free 'crowns' which are used to buy horses and cosmetic items. Any 'game change' items are free in that you make em or find em. It isn't 'pay to win' at the moment anyway.
IMO, the Dominion is the hardest 'starter area'. There are a couple of quests that are a nightmare solo unless they've fixed your companion AI for them by now (basically they used to just stand around whilst everything aggroed on you).
I soloed the game with every class but you need to pay close attention to racial bonuses when creating your character. Different races are definitely better at some classes than others. This time, I'm probably going to play as an Argonian as I'm going to TRY to make a healing tank. In other words survivability solo combined with the ability to heal others in a group as every time you try to get a group together there's a real shortage of healers. Sword/Board or 2h and a reso staff. I can play in any alliance as my PC edition was Imperial Edition so I will just join whichever alliance has the most players from in here (if any).
Nightblade is your best class. If you want to level faster, use a bow. Bosmer get a 15% XP gain with a bow equipped.
E.g. when you turn in a quest, have a bow equipped, even if you never use one. Instant +15%. Dual Wield if you like to get close, high damage when stealthed. On my playthrough I used a bow but I like distance.
Any race can play any class. It just makes it easier if you pick the right class/race combo. Argonians get a 15% bonus with the reso staff and improved healing/potion use.
The other thing to remember is swords/bows use stamina and staffs use magic so it's often best to have a secondary that is the opposite of your primary.
I will be using a primary of staff and a secondary of sword so my hits come from different pools. It's not vital, just a bit easier. But a bowman with secondary of magic = all ranged (But drawing on two pools). But a bowman with a secondary of dual wield = all stamina but you can cope with ranged and up close.
Food/drink helps with this. Again, you need to learn and you need the recipes!
Upside - if your all stamina, that's where you can put all the points
Stamina/magic - you have to split them. In the end, go with a play style that you like. I like to keep my opponents at range but it's not always possible so secondary tanking skills.
Also, mix up your armor, wear bits of each.
I usually go with - light Helmet & Gloves
Medium Boots & pauldrons
Heavy Cuirass &l leggings.
Each piece can also have a 'trait stone' fitted and can further be enhanced with magic. I can build most armours and traits as long as my chars transfer properly. Learning crafting takes a long time (each trait learned doubles the time for the next and you have to learn them for every piece of armor in every class (light med & heavy). To research a trait, you have to have a piece of armor/weapon with that trait in your inventory and it I'd destroyed on research (there are still a couple of combos I'm missing and I haven't done anything introduced with the later patches but that's endgame stuff). So learn but get someone else to build whilst learning. I will build for anyone in outer guild as long as they have the required materials. I recommend upgrading your Armor every 5 levels.
Honestly don't think I have to the time to play this whilst I'm still working my way through the Witcher... especially with Batman being so close to launch! Will wait for a review and see what people think of the single player/solo aspects of it before re-evaluating my position I think ...
So weirdly, I got my upgrade directly from Zenimax and not Microsoft as I had this on PC before. Can't even START to download it until the game goes live and my code activates. Still, only paid £10 so can't complain as it includes all my previous 8 characters and is the Imperial Edition with a white gee gee. Don't expect to be playing much before tomorrow lunchtime.
If you bought this on disk, you've still got a healthy update to download.
Code arrived @ 10:30pm so download in progress. Looks like it's a full download again, even though I've got all 60gb already there from the beta. Oh well..... Glad I'm not on a meter!
Quick question, can you create more than one character?
If, hypothetically, I have 2 really good friends who I love, but they can't stand each other, could I make another character to keep both happy? Hypothetically speaking of course....

That surely wouldn't happen, as long as both friends were reasonable men who don't get blamed for, say, a very racist Austrian?
"Justin Bieber looks like a lesbian i'd like to ****..." - Megakillscreen, out of frickin' nowhere!
It's glitching like hell, I guess due to the amount of downloading going on ATM. You can have up to 8 characters for free, maybe more if you buy them, I don't know.
