@Krzzystuff I was trying to remember how it looks before unlocking and I now believe it shows first like a golden keyhole and when you intereact with it opens a new door to the main area. Allways loool for those for new respawn points
@Balta666 ROFL i feel dumb. I literally just opened up two doors, one in the mansion and one outside, so the fact i was walking back from the birdcage lift every time i died is embarrassing. Really appreciate the tip. I just thought i needed a key so i never inspected the pink keyholes.
I killed the first main boss but man I died about 8 times. Luckily I had opened the door right by the boss so avoided your pain @Krzzystuff
On to part 2 now and feel like I'm having proper progress. I'm really enjoying it so far, and the music is great, especially in the witches lab
Ok i just got my fire magic skill so I can't wait to burn all them webs blocking doors and light up them pots to see what I can access...also i guess I'll have to fight the witch next.
Just fought the witch for the first time...i made sure I opened that door before habd and i did die. The game is really good and it just gets you sucked into it. Going to get stuck into it for a fee hours tonight so be we'll show far i progress.
@Krzzystuff that's probably my favourite boss fight, the music is great during the fight. I liked unlocking the shortcuts back to the doors as you progress, I think that bit of the level design has been influenced by dark souls
So i beat the witch last night and got my third magic spell. Already thinking of where I'll have to go back to to try and open new areas.
The art style and music is great and I'm definitely a lot better at the game now. Once I'm done with the game Ori and the Will of the Wisps is going to the top of my backlog. Another game with great music and art that I'm sure i will die a whole bunch in.
I'm on the second boss and i still don't have a single achievement! I looked some up and see i missed one with the first boss fight but o should be able to goes to one during this boss fight. It's just an odd feeling being half way through a game without an achievement!
I've been playing this a bit over the weekend and I'm trying to get to the witch. I have one achievement that I got by accident. I'm finding it a little on the difficult side and the exploration is confusing for an old man like myself. I really struggle to remember how to get to places and where shortcuts come from/lead to. Overall I'd say I am enjoying the game and even though there's some frustrations it doesn't seem rage inducing like I found Ori to be.
@crippyd i forget what was where as well! I think i might carry on until i have my last magic spell and then go back and explore everything for missed items. Game is fantastic and does feel rewarding when you get a hang of it. Might even entertain the idea of replaying the game with just the umbrella....
I've 3 achievements, one accidentally unlocked while fighting the Witch. I'm trying to get to the 2nd boss but there is one section where enemy waves keep spawning that I keep dying on. I had to take a break form it as I was so frustrated. @crippyd I also find the exploration a bit confusing, a map would be helpful but I guess it's deliberately missing. @Krzzystuff I sill only have 2 spells, maybe that's what I'm missing for the difficult fights...
@Krzzystuff I'm playing with the umbrella from the start as I saw there's an achievement for it. Does it make it more difficult to play this way?
I'm going to get a walkthrough so I can find all the stuff and navigate my way round. I havn't managed to get to the witch yet as I keep dying but I have managed to unlock the third door in that area so I can just warp straight there.
@crippyd yeah the umbrella is a weaker weapon I'm pretty sure so it will make it harder, but like you said there is an achievement for it.
@lookupmore the spells do get stronger but mostly you need them to access certain areas. I found one area, forgot where it was lol, where i hit to a certain part that i needed the third spell to get past the blockade in the path. So I'm going to play until i get the last one and just start combing everything from the beginning again.
With so much to play recently i've been neglecting this, but finally played a LOT yesterday collected all 3 large souls after playing till 2am. What a brilliant game this is! It amazes me in so many ways. The tough but fair combat always seems well balanced. The skill trees, different weapons and skills allow for different approaches based on your playstyle, each again well balanced. The wonderful world to explore with nooks, crannies and secrets to discover. A small but engaging story and a wonderful soundtrack and absolutely has that "just one more go" factor.
It ticks all the boxes. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.
@crippyd If you look at the stats the umbrella is like the starting sword but does half the damage. It's basically HARD mode, plus you can't switch weapons to one that may be better suited to a certain enemy. Once you've got the patterns down 95% of enemies aren't hard. Personally wouldn't recommned for a first playthrough though.
@themightyant Ah, that explains why it's taking me a while to get going! I'm going to carry on as is, as I'm working my way to the witch and I don't want to start the game again. I've managed to collect the fire spell and the fire upgrade so that is making things a little easier now.
@crippyd No problem. FYI I also saw that the umbrella has to have a red background in the weapons screen, otherwise you have done something to void the achievement and can change weapons. Worth checking!
EDIT: I'm enjoying the game so much I'm considering going for a replay and this achievement once done. But always so much to play.
@themightyant Thanks for the heads up on that, I'll be sure to check it out tonight when I get home from work. I hope I haven't accidentally voided the achievement!
