Hi. I was recently given a limited edition Xbox series S monster energy drink console unopened. I was wondering if anyone has any information on it before I decided to open it up ? I have one person telling me it’s a older gen and won’t update and another saying it’s just a collectible console and another saying it’s just like any other Xbox. I have pictures of the console also. I’m new to Xbox. Thanks
@DayNight a series S console is the low budget current gen option. It will play all games available on the series X console (the high end option) altough at a lower resolution. Generally speaking X targets 4k and S 1080/1440p. It has the same SSD, similar CPU (at a little bit of lower clock speed) but weaker GPU. It also is digital only so won't read any discs.
@DayNight As long as it is an 'Official' Series S, its the latest equivalent to the last generation 'XB1S' in that it plays all the Latest and future games releasing but, like the PS4/XB1S, won't have the highest Picture Quality and/or won't offer 'Performance' modes.
Just like the XB1S/PS4, the Series S is the latest equivalent. Just like those consoles, the Series S misses out on 'enhancements' offered by the 'Mid Gen' Refresh - Higher Resolutions, higher Visual Settings and/or Performance modes.
As long as you understand its the latest equivalent to the One S, the 'base' console of last gen and won't get the same 'enhancements/modes' as the Series X, exactly the same as the previous gen, and understand its the 'cheapest' and entry level console for Xbox this gen, its a great little console - perfect for HD TV owners who can't take advantage of 'resolutions' above 1080p anyway...
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
