Back in early 2022, Xbox said that by year end 2022, gamers would be able to play games they have bought in the cloud. Not all, but a large majority. This would be amazing but yet we still sit waiting for this to come to fruition.
I for one would love this option but wanted to know why it has all gone quiet and if this is still going to happen at all?
Does anyone have any knowledge of whether we will see this in 2023 or 2024?
@BaldBelper78 indeed it is a bit strange as it has passed quite some time since the announcement. However it is something that I don't care much about anyways as I only have used it a couple of times and not much a fan of the performance
I agree that this has passed under the radar and does seem to be an omission. I would definitely like the feature as it's handy to play on my phone when out and about or when I have no access to my big TV.
I would imagine that its not an 'easy' thing to switch on.
First off, the software would need to be installed on the cloud itself - therefore with thousands of games, if you include all the Backwards Compatible titles too, that's a LOT of Games that need to be accessible in the Cloud.
Not only that, the ONLY way to verify you 'own' a game to play is via a Licence. Therefore if you bought Physical Discs, those games won't be accessible on Cloud as you can't put the 'Disc' in to verify you still own the Game. At least with Digital purchases, that Licence is locked to your Account so can be used to verify you own the game.
Unless every game is playable and a work around for 'Physical' purchasers - such as converting Disc Licences to Digital licences (but would also make your Disc 'useless' and worthless), its not going to be enough for some people...
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
