Queen for me at the moment. I've been listening to The Platinum Collection while out on runs and in the car.
Lots of other great suggestions in this thread even if Queen is still top dog for me atm. Radiohead, Joy Division and Pink Floyd among others. Id probably throw Muse up there too
@ralphdibny It's a really tough one isn't it. I know its all preference, but we have had so many good bands and singers over the last 60-70 odd years its easy to forget some.
I've had the Specials on for a few hours today. I miss a bit of Ska.
@ralphdibny He had the Spiders from Mars for a little while. Yeah Muse are up there too. It's weird. I like a lot of 60/70's, loads from the 80's and 90's but since around 2005 ish, I haven't really picked up any new bands.
Someone should start a thread for US bands. Some Gold there too.
@GarbonZoni same really but probably a bit later for me, like 2008-2011 but even then, most bands from that era were probably one hit wonders. I just figured that I liked what I liked by that point. No new rap or rock has really grabbed me after that apart from albums by artists that existed before then. There has been a few stand out pop songs since though
My taste is really random actually. I still like basically everything that I liked through the different phases of my formative years...
The most recent albums I've been listening to have been
Queen - Platinum Collection
MJ - Essential Collection
Bowie - Platinum Collection
Jamie Cullum - Twentysomething
Johnny Cash - the various American Recordings CDs but mainly American IV and the Greatest Hits
Eminem - Encore/Relapse (I wasn't too hot on these at release after the first 3 albums but I've really come to appreciate them later in life)
Elliott Smith - most of the albums but mainly Figure 8 and From a Basement on a Hill
Muse - most of the albums but mainly The 2nd Law
