Growing up sucks, huh? It feels like the older you get, the more responsibilities are placed upon you, and suddenly it becomes difficult to find time for your favourite hobby. Xbox is that hobby of course, at least for the team here at PX!
What the lack of time does do, is change how you think about your backlog. Suddenly, 100+ hour games feel out of the question (unless you're allocating time for them), and those smaller bite-sized experiences feel much more manageable. Personally, I gravitate to sports games - partly because I love them, and partly because they're quick.
And of course, it's always worth jumping into a quick multiplayer session in the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6!
There are some great narrative experiences on Xbox Game Pass that serve this purpose as well. Still Wakes The Deep, The Walking Dead, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - short and sweet games that you can hack away at in quick bursts.
Realistically, there are thousands of titles that you could pick for this purpose, so we'll stop waffling - we just want to hear what you personally pick when you're low on time. Are there any Xbox games that specifically stick out to you?
Tell us the games you play in these situations down in the comments section below.

Slay the spire. Although I'm sure that will be supplanted by Balatro one day soon!
Used to be fifa or eafc nowadays but because I'm a man united fan I hate football lately again so probably black ops 6 just to get in a quick multiplayer game if not that some random game I downloaded for my daughter to get the easy achievements 🏆
Old 360 games are good aswell for achievements 🏆
It's typically mlb the show with a few games of my road to the show character if I just have 20 minutes or so but lately it's been a few rounds of black ops 6.
Cities skylines and civ 6 are also classic go to games for me.
Anything that has save anywhere. It really helps for quick gaming sessions.
Bit of football manager always hits the spot.
I'm pretty often low in time for gaming. And often, I'm playing nothing, when the time so low. When I know I have like 30 minutes, why should I even start my XBox?
Either a few matches of black ops 6 lately or I'll just do whatever I can in whatever game I'm currently working on. For example I'm playing Lies of P and if I'm on a boss sometimes ill just give it a shot 2 or 3 times then turn it off. Often I only have 30min -1 hour chunks of time so I gotta keep making progress with whatever I can.
@FatGuyInLilCoat Like elden ring, dark souls when you beat that boss or just make progress ina game like that next bonfire or beat that boss it just makes the mini session worthwhile 🏆🧎💃
I’m always low on time. Working two jobs sucks. Part of the reason why I fell in love with cloud gaming. I don’t have to wait for hours for a game to install and can switch from one to another easily.
Blackops 6, couple matches and then back to business lol.
Right now it would probably be Vampire Survivor. Tomorrow though I'm Ravenswatch drops so that will be my 30 minute run game, jump in jump out go to. Used to be Overwatch until they dropped Overwatch 2 and completely ruined the game.
COD. 1 Match is like 10 mins
Brotato - the ultimate in a fast get in session … love this game!
If I want something really quick, Vampire Survivors.
If I don't feel like playing a long game, I'd check How Long to Beat.
Recently I chose a few metroidvanias.
Timespinner was good and around 10-12 hours to 100%.
Then I played Gato Roboto which was incredibly average but around 5 hours or so.
I don't have a game I specifically gravitate towards.
That's just recently.
Also, beat:em.ups or platformers in the classic style are a good choice too.
Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Toki: Juju Densetsu.
Just last night a played some rounds of Blackjack too.
Oh, and if anyone likes Vampire Survivors like me, Army of Ruin is really good too.
I try not to play long games because I just don't have time for them anymore. RPGs are my favorite genre but I don't have the time for a 100+ hour RPG.
With that said I tend play games like XDefiant, Forza Horizon or beat em ups. Something that I can play for an hour or two and feel satisfied playing a game rather then feeling I got nothing accomplished because a game is 100+ hours.
Any roguelike/lite (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells, to name a few), Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival.
Also, not Xbox, but Helldivers 2; a three mission op usually takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
Tony Hawk 1+2. 20 minutes or so of just skating around with good music
I used to play for 1 or 2 hours a day, but lately been just like 10-20 mins, doing Starfield role playing as UC Vanguard. Been doing Alien Sample Collection, Terramorph Clean-up, and Vanguard Ship Battle Missions. I don't really like getting trapped in closed quarters on-ship and in enemy outposts, so said Missions work for me and let me get to explore/see new beautiful space/planets. Starfield is such a good game for sci-fi/space fans.
I'll jump into a simulator of some sort, most likely Cafe Owner Simulator or Lawn Mowing Simulator.
Anything that is not multi player. Most multiplayer games tend to take way too much time and are only good if you have plenty of time to spare.
The best game on the Xbox platform of course: Geometry Wars!
This is the police
Brotato
Racing games. 😁
A couple of matches of The Finals are my go to, otherwise it depends on what I'm playing at the moment.
Usually boomer shooters are also good because they tend to have short levels (and I love them to bits lol).
If i'm short on time I don't usually play games. Most games want to pull you in and eat up the clock. Being self employed if i'm low on time then it's usually my fault, i've done a bad job organising my own time or taking on too much work. I try to manage that carefully so this never happens, including leaving time for things outside your control to crop up. Gaming is my reward for getting the balance right, and if nothing drastic crops up then I just have even more time to game.
@AlwaysPlaying This is the one!!
Vampire Survivors. I've also been Playing Persona 3 Reload, so a run through Tartarus when I'm low on time usually works.
maybe a Balatro run or two, anything rogue
Something familiar I know 100% I’ll enjoy, BLOPS 6 multiplayer or if I’m feeling too tired some good old Gears or Halo campaigning on easy or normal.
Geometry Wars Retro/Evolved. Still satisfying, I would love a remaster as long as it just upgraded it technically, no need for any gameplay changes.
I've been playing short spurts of Hogwarts Legacy on the Xbox One S. Usually find the time to do a side quest or two before I have to power down.
