The weekend starts here! There's plenty to discover on Xbox over the next few days including some new Xbox Game Pass additions and your final chance to snap up some Black Friday Xbox Store deals! Say goodbye to November...
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
There are two games I'm putting all my attention into this weekend. The first is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which we all know was a mess for its first few days on the market, but it's now somewhat calmed down. Yes, it's still got a fair few bugs and texture pop-in issues, but at least it's largely playable - and therefore quite enjoyable!
I have to admit, I'm much more interested in the early access release of UFL though. This is a new free-to-play football game that technically launches next week, but you can pay a little money to start playing right now. I've been getting hands-on for review, and although it's certainly rough around the edges, I can't deny that I'm having fun so far!
Have a good weekend, folks.
What are you playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

I'm replaying Cyberpunk for a second time. The first time was with Stadia (rest in peace). I'm also watching the Netflix show which is great btw.
Also a bit of Death Stranding and Top Spin ,25
Xbox: I just finished the first Hellblade game for the second time. It still holds up great, despite the weak combat. The story is just too good to be ignored. I'm also close to finishing Fractured But Whole.
PS5: I'm on my fifth playthrough of Stellar Blade on my quest to pick up the last costumes from the latest patch.
Switch: Really enjoying DQ11. A true GOAT type of game. I can't really explain it but it feels right to play now that Christmas is coming up. Maybe its the music.
Hello there fellow gamers;
This weekend I´ll probably go back to the amazing Cyberpunk 2077 and finaly play The Phamtom Liberty dlc.
Will also go back to play the also amazing Metaphor Refantazio. One of the best RPGs out there.
I do tend to stop playing games when I get closer to the end. Weird, right?
And will probably play some Street Fighter 6 online.
There are so many games in my backlog, that I don´t even know what to do sometimes. Oh well, not a bad problem to have 😜
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
Mass Effect 2 (Legendary Edition) on Insanity.
Assassin's Creed Rogue.
Maaaaaybe The Witcher 2.
Honestly I don't know. I still have to continue Greedfall too.
Now the patch has dropped I will be starting my second run of Stalker 2 as I had such a fun time the first go around.
This time I am aiming for a more completionist approach with no stash left unplundered & no side quest left undone plus taking different options on the main quest for an eventual different ending.
I expect this run will be more of a long term project to slot in besides other games. This game is stuffed full of hidden stuff & optional content it will take a lot longer than my first go.
EDIT: Stalker 2 Patch 1.0.2 has been deployed for pc & xbox in addition to yesterday patch (about 8 Gb )

Its a few more quest blocker fixes that can occur under some circumstances.
Still mostly microsoft flight sim 24 and black ops 6. I did manage to start assassins creed Mirage and a dead space 2 replay but have barely touched either. I'm in the skies most of my free time.
I think I'm going to hold off on stalker 2 until after Indy.
When I'm not watching the snooker or football over the weekend I'll just be on call of duty black ops hopefully hit the 2nd prestige level happy weekend people 👍
Still working my through Dragon Age Veilguard and thoroughly enjoying it. Seen about 10 minutes of what some people might complain of as 'woke' conversation in the over 120 hours I've played so far. It's a really fun game.
I had been playing Avatar and still need to finish it, but the recent update has added an annoying shimmer which has stopped me playing it. If you were to believe the ps5 pro haters it's the pro patch to blame, but my wife is also playing it in the same room on an og ps5 and has exactly the same issues. It's a bad patch.
I've also just bought the star wars outlaws game. I was going to wait till it was cheaper, but ps rewards have reinstated taking PSN credit as a reward and I had £15 available from that and I got the usual %14 credit discount buying it elsewhere. Together with the current %25 sale discount, it was cheap enough for me to jump in. Since the last big update it looks great and runs 60hz with no dips, huzzah.
Following the recent previews I'm excited for both Indy and Avowed on the series x!
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun 😊
I'm 45 hours into Dragon Age Veilguard on Xbox and I'm also going to try Sea of Stars.
@RaZieLDaNtE I am exactly the same! The amount of games I have got to the final mission and then either never completed or had a long hiatus before going back is crazy…must be something in our psychology 😂
I am mainly going to be playing the many games I picked up in the Autumn steam sale with some Dragon Age Veilguard thrown in.
More Veilguard. I’ve reached the bit where it tells me the next story mission is the endgame, so I’m hoovering up the remaining companion quests and increasing faction strength in preparation for starting it.
If I finish it this weekend, I have Stalker 2 and Death Stranding installed as well as Life is Strange DE and Rise of the Golden Idol. I reckon I’ll go for one of the latter two - something a bit shorter between epics. And I’ve got Monday off. 😄
Lies of P. On chapter 8 of 11, so I'm getting closer. I bounce between this and matches of black ops 6, where I'm about to prestige.
If anyone hasn't played Lies of P and are a fan of the genre, it is awesome. It's been on gamepass for over a year so they could yank it at anytime.
This weekend I'm rotating between Starfield and Nine Sols on Xbox, Bravely Default II on Switch(working on clearing the true ending route before Fantasian drops next week) and then maybe like...Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2 and Slitterhead on PS5.
@RiverGenie how long did your first run take?
Got a bit tired last weekend with DA Inquisition becoming a bit repetitive, so I tried Stalker 2 but didn’t get on with it. Yesterday I went back to Baldurs Gate 3 (via GeForce Now on my M1 MBA) to pick up wheee I left off after 25 hours in Act 1. Really enjoying it again, and having to experiment with all the spells and cantrips to remind myself how they work.
After the MSFS2024 debacle I’m thinking of cancelling Game Pass Ultimate.
I’m hardly playing my Xbox let alone Game Pass games. My wife and I are mostly playing Kingdom Two Crowns on the Switch and we’ve got gaming PCs to play online games too.
I just don’t see any use for my Series X at the moment.
Stalker 2 on Series X and PC
Forbidden West on PS5
@BIG3 About 76 hours. Mainly main story focused with some side mission stuff if it wasn't too far out of my way.
It will probably be possible to do it quicker after yesterdays patch as that added some extra fast travel options that I didn't have access to.
Also maybe knock 6 hours or so off if you don't explore Prypiat too much. I spent a lot of time just looking around there with no quest objective active. Its probably the best ruined urban environment I have explored in any game I have played in over 20 years of gaming.
@Titntin all the "woke" stuff is literally contained in one companions personal quest which is entirely optional & can be ignored. Saying that doesn't get the YouTube engagement though.
I enjoyed my time with Veilguard a lot & want to return to it at some point to do a warrior play through
This weekend I’m playing Space Marines 2. This game rules. It harkens back to the 360 days with the early Gears of War titles. The combat is visceral and satisfying, with unique gameplay elements sprinkled throughout its 8-hour campaign (perfect length, too) to never make it boring. And the writing, despite being campy and bombastic, is actually well written, with a cool story. The banter between your party members is also great to listen to because of the distrust between your band of brothers, but remaining composed and uncompromising in their beliefs in order to get the job done.
I can’t stop playing Dragon age Veilguard! Have clocked up around 55 hours and still not finished the main story, though have been doing a lot of side/companion/faction quests. I’m already looking forward to my second play through, next time as a mage. I can’t believe some people would deprive themselves of this game just because of a minimal amount of woke content 🤦🏻♂️
Since dropping Stalker 2, waiting for it to be patched etc, Ive played Neva. It was awesome, from the same developer that made Gris. Of you liked Gris, you need to play Neva!
Also waiting for some games coming in december, Indy being one of them
@RiverGenie Sounds awesome. I decided to hold it off until they got some patches in but I'm very much looking forward to it. Thanks for answering. Enjoy your weekend.
@Nightcrawler71 People are missing out! I had so much fun with my playthrough as a grey warden. Will definetly do another run next year.
There were some pretty steep discounts on switch, ps5 and Xbox, so I picked up some deals that I’ve wanted to play and am waiting for them to arrive. In the meantime, I’m figuring out what to get digitally and what to get on the steam sale. Have a nice weekend all.
Played through Cuphead & DLC with my partner this week. A lot of fun trying to grade high on each boss.
Next is Nine Sols. A game I would’ve probably purchased on Switch if not for GP.
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - My neverending questing through the Adventure mode and also the dailies.
iStunt 2 (Windows Phone) - Still working through the Windows Phone backlog, so I've started this Joe Danger wannabe.
Elements: Epic Heroes (Windows Phone) - Also just started this one.
No bombastic games for me this weekend, playing through Lorelei and the Laser Eyes with my wife. Really looking forward to Indiana Jones next weekend!!!
I put a bunch of other games on hold because I got Astro Bot and now I don't want to play anything else.
@Lup Good problems to have… all those choices in my backlog as well….
It will be Brotato with a sprinkling of Tales from the Borderlands. 9 Sols and maybe a rpg like Assassin Creed 1 if I get more time…
I'm currently playing Tales Of Kenzera on my Series X
Also playing Pokemon Violet..
Stalker 2 on xCloud and Horizon FW on PS5. Last week I managed to finally watch Fallout and Like a Dragon tv series from Amazon. Loved both of them and now I’ll be watching Rings of Power.
Stardew Valley (PC) Picked it up as part of the Steam sale for $10 so I will be starting a farm there.
Black Ops 6 (Series X) Double Xp Weekend so my buds want to do some MP and Zombies.
River City Girls (PS4) I started this awhile ago but never finished it. I am still in a beat em up mood so I will be dusting off the PS4 and playing this one with my son.
Up to Case 11 on The Case of the Golden Idol, it’s been absolutely stonking brilliant and utterly frustrating all in equal measure so far. Was thinking of playing something a little more on the dumb fun side of things and come back in a few days with fresh eyes and brain, but what? 🤔
Finishing my first playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy. I have one main quest left and the final bit for Sebastian. Probably go back to RDR2 and/or Fable 3 afterwards.
I got a decent amount of Metaphor in and I started the extremely underrated Nine Sols.
@everynowandben that’s my game of the year!
Still plugging away at Xenoblade Chronicles 3 I already loved the world and the gameplay but this was the week I fell for the characters. When they started playing the XC1 music I teared up, not for the first time.
What a game!
I'm finishing up persona 3 reload and I started Final Fantasy XIV and I'm finding myself enjoying it quite a lot. So, probably will just carry on with those two for the rest of the weekend. Anybody else playing ffxiv on Xbox? just curious!
Aliens: Dark Descent,
It’s hard, gritty and immersive.
You can either set up full pause or slow-mo in menu. Custom difficulty settings is also available.
Learning game mechanics is a must.
Good game, recommended for Aliens(1986) movie fans and even for Xcom fans(but this one is actually real-time, with some Xcom game elements).
@Stamnoso yes! I am about 15 hours into it and really hooked, love the music and the world building. Also play on my steam deck through xcloud to knock out some quests. Definitely feel like I will really get stuck into it properly over Xmas, game is a beast!
Just ReCore this weekend. I'm reaching the end now and so far I can say is that the gameplay and the story are simple but it's a fun little game.
I'm playing some more COD with the double XP weekend and I'm also going to start Alien: Dark Descent
@GeeEssEff Hello there friend.
I´ve been doing this kind of thing since forever.
Two of the most intersting ones:
I didn´t want it to end, you know?
Eventualy I finished both games and have finish many others, but there will always be one or two that I just stop and eventualy go back.
You said it though, we must be a little weird 😜
Cheers and have a good one
I'm playing some more flight simulator. My current annoyance is having to u turn on runways to take off. The arrows in the ground form a much tighter circle than I can turn the plane and I always crash. Am I missing some way to turn in smaller circles?
Been having a great time on COD and Metaphor refantazio.
Stalker 2, buggy and janky still after the patch but the experience is so memorable that I know I will be talking about this game for years to come.
My go to games are Grid Legends, FH 5, and Disney Storm time time. I played some Baja Edge of Control also. I am waiting to get back into Elder Scrolls Online again soon as it takes a lot of your time as I don't have a lot. Hard for me to start a single player game nowadays so I don't start. Got a PS4 Pro also, played FF15 then I got bored. Don't even feel like starting Spider Man. Racing games are quick to get into and fighting games which I have also. Hope to reinstall Halo Infinite for the Helldivers 2 mode and 3rd person update. How is that going also, fun?

Well here we go with another amazing WAYP. Been a stupidly amazing week around here. The week was mostly the games to work on for GOTY like Star Wars Outlaws, Visions of Mana, YS X, Emio and Metaphor. Most of the weekend was spent with Emio and Visions of Mana. Both games continue to knock it out the park Uce. Absolutely excellent. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some YS X Nordics. It also keeps knocking it out the park with excellent absolutely excellent story bits and great gameplay. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Emio, Dawntrail, Metaphor, Star Wars Outlaws, Visions of Mana, Tekken 8 Platinum, Lego Horizon, Zenless Zone Zero and really just anything that can get on the GOTY list. Probably vote for The Game Awards too and check out all the cool new stuff on the new phone I got this week too. Try too get a copy of Dragon Quest and Power Rangers too. The wrestling thing this week being Survivor Series WARGAMES just was absolutely amazing. The Women’s Wargames match, new US Champ Shinsuke Nakamura, and the Bloodline Men’s Wargames matches were absolutely splendid and honestly even the Gunther and Damian and Intercontinental Triple Threat match were splendid too. Anime of the week gotta go to Dandadan and Ranma 1/2. Not as many picks this week but they are absolutely two bangers no doubt there absolutely splendid. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally amazing weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
@Deckard85 Nice! feel the same, I'm starting to understand why some people keep saying is the best FF in the last 10+ years and apparently it only gets better. I agree with music and world building! beautiful world, I unlocked the "sighseeing log" the other day and I'm excited to complete it.
I think I'm close ish to completing MSQ chain for the base game. What class did you go for?
@Stamnoso Agreed, I loved all the final fantasy games but after X nothing has really clicked with me like the older titles did. This definitely has though. Ahhh I don't think I've unlocked the sightseeing log yet. I would be all over that though, sometimes I like to pause and soak it up.
I'm playing as a conjurer, which in retrospect playing solo means I'm casting a lot of the same attack but for some reason I really want to become a white mage. How's about you? Are you on the free trail for it?
@Deckard85 Yeah, I feel the same about FF. I always say "X" was the last great one for me. Many people love XII, but I just couldn't get into it (and left it 1/3 into the game ish), then XIII had some good things, but nowhere near the level of the "classics". Can't say about XV and XVI cause I haven't played them yet (XV has been collecting dust on a shelf in my gaming room for the last 1+ year -.-U)
Anyway, on FXIV I'm a white mage too!! for some reason I love healing people, but yeah the "solo" part is a bit less involved. It's essentially "stoning" enemies right? haha I got an AoE now too, which is cool. In the long run, I might go with tank too, I like the idea, but got a bit worried about having too much of a "lead" role from the beginning.
I was on the free trial until a couple of days back, I see myself playing the game in the long run so decided to invest and get the full version to lift some of the limitations that were starting to bother me (e.g. gil limit, market board, socials) At the end of the day, here in the UK the subcription is like the price of a pint and a half in the pub, so it's not really that much in the whole scheme of things.
@Stamnoso totally agree, nothing has clicked for me in the same way since X and I don't feel like the newer Devil May Cry combat is appealing to me at all!
Haha no way, a fellow White Mage! Yeah excessive stone attack but it's strangely enjoyable. Yeah I agree, I fancied being support rather than lead on the attacks. Still an important role though!
Yeah I'm leaning towards paying up to get a fuller experience too, as a fellow UK resident, I don't mind paying for something I enjoy and I can see myself sticking with this for a while, apparently the story after ARR really takes off so excited for that. Enjoying listening to the music too on YouTube, epic.
@Deckard85 Yeah, agree hope to see you around in Eorzea. I've been listening to the music on YouTube while working too xD, even gave a try to a couple of "lofi" mixes that were pretty good.
