Weekend time! There's lots to enjoy on Xbox as usual over the next couple of days, including a selection of recent Xbox Game Pass additions, another batch of Xbox Free Play Days titles, some new free-to-play releases and a whole lot more!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I'd be all over Split Fiction this weekend if I hadn't played it for review already with my wife - we loved the game so much and now I'm desperately searching for something to fill the void. To be honest, we're probably just going to end up going back to Mario Party - it's the only thing other than Hazelight Studios games that interests her!
For me personally, I'm looking at more Football Manager 2024 over the weekend, as well as maybe some Balatro and Rock Band 4. I reviewed PDP's Riffmaster guitar for Pure Xbox last weekend and found it really kickstarted my love for Rock Band once more - the massive DLC library that I've created has gotten a lot bigger now!
Oh, and WWE 2K25 as well. That game seems great so far, but I need a lot more time with it.
Have a good weekend, folks!

What’s the game in the pic?
Played since last week
Avowed - I’ve finished the main story and I feel done with the game. It was a fun game once I started playing it for what it is and not what I wanted it to be. Looks good, great world thats fun to explore but too shallow for it to be a great game imo.
Warhammer 40k Space Marines 2 - Cant stop playing 😅 I got the platinum earlier in the week but I’ll keep playing it now and then as its so awesome. For the Emperor!
Dragon Age Veilguard - Hadnt planned to play this now but since it dropped on PS Plus I decided to give it a shot! I’m enjoying a lot so far, they’ve created a beautiful world that feels magical and I like the gameplay. Its not perfect but better than I expected after all the ***** surrounding the game.
Hello there fellow gamers.
This weekend I´ll be playing Evil West, since it´s leaving Game Pass and I´m having a blast with it.
Will also play Split Fiction with a friend. We both played and finished It Takes Two a few weeks ago and it was very fun.
And might also dable in some Street Fighter 6 matches.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
WAS going to be original Gears of War X360.
But save data has just disappeared twice recently (luckily I haven’t gotten too far). While can’t manage it too specifically on XSX and seemingly not at all in-game.
Guess will have to choose another title 🤷🏻♂️.
@Angelus3K Image: One Lonely Outpost, Xbox Game Pass. Easy to miss but it's there under the pic.
Working through Wolfenstein Youngblood, and back to Ziggurat 2 as it's been a while since I put some time into it
I was going to start a fresh run at Baldurs Gate 3 but patch 8 with new sub classes is seemingly right around the corner so putting that on hold for now.
Instead I am finally going to finish the first dlc for WH40k: Rogue Trader. Had it for a while but I always seem to get distracted by other stuff.
The base game is on gamepass & if you have even a passing interest in crpg's or Warhammer 40K I cant recommend it enough. Its not as flashy or polished as BG3 but its packed full of style, lore and fun game play.
The devs (Owlcat Games) to me are up there with Larian Studios in terms of their passion for the games they make & crpg generally.
I just beat Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on Ps5, close to the platinum too as I only have a handful of things left like 3 more crewmates, beat amon, donthe minatonsubstories and complete the baseball minigame.
Besides that I started playing Bakeru on my Switch which I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment.
The plan is to start either Sea of Stars or Star Wars: Jedi Survivor after.
Only really playing 2 games right now. Avowed. Have clocked up around 70 hours (!) so far, and I’m now in which I believe is the game’s final main area - Galawain’s tusks. I love the variety of combat options in this game, though I’ve had my trusty unique axe - “Drawn in winter” - since quite early on. Am trying to finish the game before AC Shadows comes out.
Also playing Two point museum, which is great fun. It’s one of those games where you start a session and suddenly 3 hours have gone past 😂 expeditions are a nice addition to the series, and you always get that tiny dopamine hit when your expedition team return and you open a crate.
I recently purchased a metaquest3 and I can't stop playing beat saber. Also a bit of the batman game which is truly amazing.
When it comes to Xbox I'm playing RoboCop. It's good so far but I gotta admit it doesn't hit the same level of dopamine as the VR games
I've just finished Far Cry New Dawn on the Series X this morning. The rest of the weekend I'll be cracking on with Silent Hill 2 on my newly acquired PS5. Loving it so far.
I'm trying to beat Star Wars Outlaws before Assassins Creed. I've been enjoying the game so far. I just finished the Lando dlc and reached the halfway point. Still got like 12 days before AC, so I think I can manage it.
I was going to play AC mirage, but its a bit boring, so now Im playing South park the fractured but whole, which is an awesome game. 😀
Having sunk lots of time into Avowed and enjoyed it a lot I'm now taking a break from normal games to play some PSVR 2.
Using it as a way to be a bit less sedentary. Bringing out the old favourite - Pistol whip and then Synth Riders and Beat Sabre, plus a decent amount of Drums Rock thrown in.
I also played thr opening of Metro awakening but finding myself having trouble adjusting to the control scheme.
If I get a chance to play it, absolutely Split Fiction with the wife. We keep putting playing Lost Records off too, just because there’s been a lot going on for us, but we may finally play that one too. We’ll have a good time with both of them when we get to them.
Outside that, I think I might finally put Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on the back burner. I’m struggling to get into it. Maybe it’ll be something for me at a later point. I mean, it took me half a decade to finally appreciate The Witcher 3, so it can happen.
If I play something solo, it’ll probably be something arcade-y We Heart Katamari or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 or Dig Dug.
And I’ll be keeping tabs on SXSW because Kojima. I can’t wait for Death Stranding 2. I’m at that point in my gaming life where I sort of know most things I buy will be a gamble if I like them, but there’s still a select few games that I can say, “When that comes out, I can basically guarantee it’ll probably be one of my favorite games I’ve ever played.” You know, that kid feeling of playing games. I get it with Mario, Zelda, (usually) Final Fantasy, (usually) Resident Evil, Remedy’s games now, you know? But, more than anything else, I feel that way for Kojima games. They just feel like they’re a different level of special. They’re games that feel like they talk directly to me, and I could not anticipate any game more.
Series X- Monster Hunter Rise, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Street Fighter 6, and Marvel vs Capcom Collection.
PS5- Metaphor Refantazio and Sonic Generations
Switch- Pokémon Scarlet
I'm trying to beat 3 games before they leave Gamepass.
I've finished Solar Ash last Wednesday, this weekend I'll try to beat Evil West and after that I'll dive into No More Heroes III
Finally finished Eiyuden last night after finishing Avowed. Great ending but damn it was tedious recruiting everyone.
Now onto Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, trying to finish it before AC Shadows.
I finished Metaphor Refantazio 2 nights ago after 3 months / 105 hours. Wonderful game with a great ending which is always appreciated.
Last night I started Songs of Conquest, a spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic III, one of the greatest games of all time. So far I'm digging it and it certainly gave me "just one more turn" syndrome as I wound up going to bed late. My biggest complaint so far is the music which is passable, while HOMM III's (and II) are legendary and almost 30 years later still have live orchestras playing it's songs.
About halfway through Doom 2016. Playing on Ultra Violence which is the perfect amount of difficulty for me. I die a fair amount but never get stuck on a part for more than just a couple tries.
On Xbox:
On Switch:
I'm still playing dead rising 3 nearly done with the main campaign and then I'll finish off the dlc's I might play some black ops multiplayer and maybe Hogwarts if I'm in the humour 🤷
Happy weekend peoples 👍
One Lonely Outpost has my name all over it.
Suikoden 1 and majoras mask
Bit of Avowed and Tales of Kenzera: Zau. I don't have much free time right now, but I'm really tempted by some of the games on sale lol.
More KCD2 on Series X. Got a horse now, which saves on shoe leather and also makes it easier to avoid bandits. Still relatively early in the game, doing side missions today, maybe a main quest mission tomorrow.
Monster Hunter Wilds for me with some Road 96 thrown in for good measure
I'm 46 hours into Avowed and loving the gorgeous world Obsidian created. The exploration, movement and combat are outstanding too. So more Avowed for me for the time being 😁.
I was playing Monster Hunter Wilds but it just didn't click with me. Right now I'm playing Kena Bridge Of Spirits on Series X. This game is gorgeous, The cutscenes look like a Pixar movie..
More of the same for me this weekend.
Avowed (Series X) Really enjoying this game alot, I find it relaxing just exploring and doing the quests. Still doing side quests around Paradis before moving onto the main story. I believe I am level 7 right now. Really enjoying the combat and just learning about the world.
World of Warcraft Anniversary Classic (PC) Going to try and do a few dungeons tonight Wailing Caverns to be precise and maybe Shadowfang Keep OG. Been years since I have done either of them so it's going to be fun to see what I remember.
Sims 2 (PC) Mainly dinking around with this game but then again isn't that what Sims are all about.
I also would like to get back into Indiana Jones if I have time this weekend but we will see if I have time.
Bought Alan Wake 2 in the sales and loving it so far, not a fan of horror games but it has hooked me in. Will also be dipping into Hauntii on gamepass, great indie game. Thought was going to be a simple casual walking type game but is more of a shooter/puzzle/collection game which I'm enjoying
On PS5 I just bought Star Wars Outlaws on sale started that last night and I'll be playing Lost Records later with the Mrs. On Xbox still playing Avowed about 50 hours in and nearing the end now absolutely loved my time with it the world is beautiful and just fun to explore.
I have the use of both my ears this week which is welcome. Made a start on Assassins Creed Origins this week and also started Quantum Break. Thinking of taking a break from GoW Ragnarok for a bit as it was starting to drag. Atomfall is fast approaching too so may very well be after i'm done with that.
Have a fantastic weekend all and happy gaming 👍
Hunt Showdown and Legends of Mana. Maybe Phasmophobia since it's all the rage with the youth rn
Predator hunting grounds. Picked up robocop for £11. I’m back in the 80s and I love it. Grew up watching these movies. Waiting for atomfall
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Dailies and Adventure mode as usual.
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - At the end of the road here now.
Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - Also nearing the end of this as well.
Avowed has my full attention until Atomfall hits in a few weeks! Loving it so far, currently at level 8…
War Robots: Frontiers
It’s a new free to play mech game. So far PvP only. Gameplay is really good and graphics(UE5) and sound too.
Some say it’s p2w but it could be matchmaking problem.
It’s on all platforms excluding switch with full crossplay support.
I’m having a blast.
Check it out
I play;
1 - Grim Dawn (with all DLCs)
2 - Warhammer 40.000 Dark Tide
3 - Lego 2K Drive
this weekend...
After Avowed and Road 96 (game club) and before xenoblade takes my life away I decided to finally give a go at Bully (enjoying it quite a bit) however I am currently stuck demolishing picross instead 😅
Split Fiction of course! What a gem of a game. I’m having a blast with this one.
Avowed. Just incredible game. Spent huge amount of time in Dawnshore, exploring, side quests, bounties…..time to get back to main quest and move on. I really struggle to complete games, giving BG3 a go few times, just can’t get into it, not a fan of turn based combat. Avowed has my total attention for a very long time!
@Foxx_64740 I thought I was crazy for trying to knock out two games. NMH3 is a lot better than I expected. Weird AF but in an interesting way and the combat is good enough.
@fabisputza007 would recommend upgrading your auto pistol to 'full-auto' mode with circuit boards asap. And set the auto fire to fire max bullets. It really matches the gun from the movies then and feels great blowing bad guys away with a hail of bullets.
started Red dead 2 for the first time after finishin 1
and im loving it.
got it for 20 bucks
Well here we go with another wild WAYP. Again missed a week due to spending the weekend with the GF but we got a really good one this week. Again spending time with someone you love beats gaming by far.The week was some good fun games all around. Mostly Trails Through Daybreak, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pirate Yakuza, FFXIV Dawntrail with some Mario and Luigi Brothership as well. Pirate Yakuza may be a GOTY it’s so much fun and I loved it so much. Monster Hunter is fun too it’s easily the most fun I’ve had with a Monster Hunter game by far. Made the GOTY list and can’t wait to share it about to any who wanna hear. Most of the weekend was spent with Split Fiction with the GF. Yes I’ve decided to share the very special experience of a Josef Fares game with someone very special to me. Honestly it didn’t wow me at first but I’m willing to give it a fair shake. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Trails Through Daybreak as I’m really hoping to beat it and start II. As well as some Pirate Yakuza or Monster Hunter or maybe Death Stranding Directors Cut or maybe even Lost Records Bloom and Rage. Maybe even Disgaea 7 too as I got that as a gift last weekend from the GF too. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Dawntrail, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Pirate Yakuza, Monster Hunter, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Dynasty Warriors Origins. Try to pick up my preorder of WWE2K25 too. The wrestling thing this week being the WWE Elimination Chamber and WWE2K25. To start with the game first what can I say I’m excited for the BLOODLINE showcase mode and overall excited for a fresh new game. As for Elimination Chamber what is there to say except two words: CENA SUCKS. Anime of the week gotta go to Dragon Ball Daima and Shangri La Frontier and Solo Leveling and Okitsura and Sakamoto Days and 100 Girlfriends. They all continue to be absolute bangers as they keep trucking. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally magnificent weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
Playing KCD2 ahead of AC Shadows on the 20th and Atomfall on the 24th. I'm about 75 hours in at least but I think I might have another 20+ hours to go based on the number of main missions.
