Welcome to the weekend! You've got plenty of new stuff to check out over the next two days, including a huge batch of Xbox Game Pass additions, more Free Play Days titles, and the ongoing Xbox Summer Sale, amongst other things!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, News Editor
I don't really know what to do when it comes to Hot Wheels this weekend. Do I buy the new expansion for Forza Horizon 5, or do I pick up Hot Wheels Unleashed in the Xbox Summer Sale? I'll probably end up doing neither to be honest, but I have to admit I'm a little more enticed by the second option as things stand. We'll see!
I've got two main plans for the weekend as things stand — the first is to check out Bright Memory: Infinite, which looks like a flawed but enjoyable new release, and the second is to play more of WWE 2K22's GM Mode, which I'm really enjoying at the moment. In fact, I've just finished a 50-week playthrough against the AI (I narrowly won!).
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Will be wrapping up a couple of games this weekend. I've already finished TMNT: Shredder's Revenge today and will be focusing on beating Guardians of the Galaxy next. If I have some time over, I'll continue my playthrough of As Dusk Falls.
I decided to go back to Trek To Yomi and try and finish the game this time. I've got 3 chapters left to go. The clunky combat makes the game frustrating most times but still a decent experience.
I also started Dead Cells, as you can imagine the game is very difficult. I'm struggling to get past the second area after 7 runs. I paused my playthrough as I started playing As Dusk Falls which I finished on Thursday night. Hoping to spend more time on DC.
Finally I'm going to start my playthrough of Spec Ops The Line.
On my Xbox I just finished As Dusk falls, which was a brilliant story game, really loved it. So now back to AC origins.
On my ps5 I'm finishing Stray. Original idea and great visuals but the gameplay isn't anything special. Being limited to only jump on fixed places removes the sense of freedom. Most puzzles are also not really puzzles way to easy to solve them. Expected more of it. After finishing it I'll go back to Nights of Azure another ps plus game. Actions jrpg which is pretty standard in all sorts of ways but I'm enjoying it
Just finished dead space 1 & 2 for the first time going to try out stray then start dead space 3
I’m still playing Monster Hunter Rise / Sunbreak. Since I accidentally deleted my original save, I had to start Rise all over. Initially, it was a chore due to all the tutorials but I buckled down and got through it - and became addicted once more. I didn’t want to cheat myself and use the Defender gear sets just to rush through the game; because I needed to reacquaint myself with the mechanics and intricacies of the game, particularly the weapon and talismans crafting (which I’m still struggling to understand even after 40hrs in the game).
I did finally defeat the Thunder Serpent Narwa (my first time fighting this creature since I stopped playing after defeating Magnamalo). The fight was rather easy, but it was thrilling spectacle that was quite impressive.
So, I’m now officially into Sunbreak and it’s an absolute blast. I’ve only done a few hunts, but there is obvious QoL improvements that make the game more enjoyable. Furthermore, the new locations and monsters are a joy to learn and explore; there’s deeper layers to them compared to previous levels. I fought the Blood Orange Bishaten last night and that was a very fun romp.
I’m also playing Kirby and the Forgotten Lands with my 7-year-old daughter. We are having a ton of fun with this game; in fact, I’m surprised by how much I am loving it. Last night we beat the first area and Gorimondo, and we are now at the beach. It’s incredibly creative, and that is what Nintendo does best. Y’know when you play first party Nintendo games there will be some intriguing new features that will simply put a smile on your face, and at the end of the day, that’s what video games are about.
If I get the time (I work for the next seven days straight, and my fiancé has her friends over at the house for the weekend) I will start up Live A Live. I’ve been itching for an old school RPG, and I absolutely adore the 2.5 HD art style, so this game looks like a melding of everything I’m craving right now.
Finished stray tryna get the speedrun for the platnium
As dusks falls, just startes chapter 4. Great "game".
Might play some red dead redemption 2 as well
Finished up Forza horizon 1, infamous second son, stray and the awesome adventures of captain spirit in the past few days.
Currently playing Life is Strange 2 and the plan is to play God of War Ghost of Sparta after that.
Playing my Steam Deck while camping. Forza Horizon 5 looks and plays amazing on this thing.
Trying to get the achievement for doing the entire season Festival Playlist in FH5, so I’ll be doing that!
Finished Omno last night and gave up on Raji (combat not for me) so now i am focusing on As dusk falls which I am absolutely loving so far. Maybe will get a few more hours in elden ring too
I finally finally got a ps5 so I’m gonna be playing Astros playroom and horizon forbidden west
Im playing As Dusk Falls and Norco on PC game pass
Just finished As Dusk Falls, it's an incredible experience. Now I'm gonna start Red Dead 2
I’m playing As Dusk Falls and a nice relaxing game called Firewatch. Really liking both so far.
@LtSarge Shredders' Revenge was pretty good, like refreshing and fun.
Guardians is great too, I couldn't get Into Avengers but Guardians was amazing.
I used to be huge into comics, and Guardians is cool because it doesn't just rely on the MCU for source material.
Pushing a little further into Elden Ring.
Going to get into the Hunt Showdown. Been looking forward to it.
Had 5 dollar credit from Microsoft for some reason and got Hunt for 5.
Going to try out Watch Dogs Legion from Gamepass.
Level up a little in Halo.
Try and finish out Gears 5 Story.
Pretty good weekend.
Joined the Dark Side and got Ps5 last Sunday. Playing Gran Tourismo, Astro’s Playroom….got the Hotwheels Expansion and will probably play Kirby and Mario Golf at some point…
Getting very close to the end of Vestaria Saga but I doubt I'll finish it this weekend. It's a great game that absolutely lives up to it's creator's reputation. Very difficult and sometimes frustrating if you don't let anyone die, but it's worth it. Sometimes you just have to pray to the RNGesus. It's kind of a shame the graphics and animations aren't a little better, but they don't need to be as that's obviously not the point.
I also started playing Resident Evil: Survivor on my recently purchased Miyoo Mini v2, but I think I might save it for an upcoming flight.
Hmm I finally broke down and re-upped my GamePass sub, so I’ll be kicking around As Dusk Falls and Sniper Elite 5. Plus a bunch of other stuff, I’m sure.
Be safe, have fun!
New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) - As the game turns ten this year, I've finally decided to beat it. I've made it to World 3 so far.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Close to finishing the July medals I need. Then back onto challenge packs again.
Make It Rain: The Love of Money (Windows Phone) - Still playing here and there.
Little Hope….Severed Steel….Hot Wheels Unleashed
About to finish off power washer sim and will b playing in my shadow after
I'm almost done with Mario + Rabbids, Great game by the way.. I might start up Klonoa on Series X when I'm done.. I purchased Klonoa digital but just haven't gotten around to it yet..Happy Gaming Everyone.. 👍👍
Destiny 1 on my Series X with a bunch of Italians.
WWE 2K22 (Xbox Series X) Going to try and wrap up GM against my son, we have about 8 weeks left of our 50 week series.
Diablo Immortal (Mobile) Still plugging away at this when the TV is in use or on my lunch at work.
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge and Bright Memory: Infinite.
@Japer83 Avengers was such a huge disappointment compared to GotG. It started out great but then it became a generic, money-grabbing crap of a mess. I'll probably give it another try on Series X this time but yeah, GotG is so much better than Avengers.
I'd go as far as to say that GotG is one of the best licensed superhero games ever made. The story is so concise and long enough to make me care about the characters, which rarely happens for me with these superhero games. I liked the GotG movies but I like the GotG franchise even more now thanks to the game. I'm genuinely very pleased with it.
Do a list of the best Japanese produced / developed games on Xbox! Have been shopping all weekend on the shop & there's a lot of hidden gems
Playing some Aliens Fire Team Elite, Halo Infinite, Castelvania Symphony of the night via digital backwards compatibility and Metro Exodus. Probably getting into some Elden Ring tomorrow too.
@Japer83 looking forward to the Hunt Showdown event starting next week, it's low-key a sleeper hit and looks phenomenal on Series X. Will get into that next week
Halo infinite,.. Diamond 3 trying to hit onyx!!!
Q) What Xbox games are you playing this weekend?
A) Whilst I do have a bunch of stuff to do such as videos to edit and game room to sort out, I hope to finally have a bit of time to play Bright Memory: Infinite. I've been looking forward to it for a long time and have it purchased, downloaded and at the ready.
I hope you have fun with it as well, Fraser Gilbert!
Well, I picked up Live A Live and (whilst at the store) Ghostwire Tokyo after Work on Friday. I installed Ghostwire but didn't play it, I resumed from the Demo and finished the Imperial China as well as played through the Prehistoric Age stories in Live A Live (and will probably play through the Present Day before the night is over) this weekend.
More importantly, I finally started watching Sons Of Anarchy on Disney+ and am loving that show 👍
Stray, Hotwheels Forza DLC, and some old Motorstorm.
Have a great weekend all...
Hoping to get Mass Effect 2 squared away this weekend. Main game finished, just mopping up the DLC missions, plan to move onto something smaller before starting Mass Effect 3.....thinking of Genesis Noir
Corpse Party, bought it on sale, as well as Rune Factory 4 and the Summer in Mara + Deiland Bundle.
