Weekend time! There's plenty to check out on Xbox over the weekend, with the highlight being a massive array of Xbox Free Play Days titles from EA Sports, and there are also a small number of new Xbox Game Pass additions as well.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I feel like there's just so much I want to play at the moment. I got back into Baldur's Gate 3 recently and I've remembered where I was and what I was doing... so that's on the list! Football Manager 2024 is dominating my time on PC Game Pass as well right now, to the point where I'm going to have to buy it before it inevitably leaves in March.
Perhaps I'll check out some of these Xbox Free Play Days games as well - I know most of them are part of Xbox Game Pass now anyway, but EA Sports FC 25 isn't, so it'll be good to see what it's like. I've actually really missed having Xbox Free Play Days around over the holidays, so hopefully it's here to stay throughout 2025.
Have a good weekend, folks!

Played since last week
Spider-Man 2 - Finished it, amazing game. Miles is still my favorite of the three Spider-Man games but some of the main missions in S-M 2 are incredible.
The Stanley parable - finished and platinumed. Brilliant game, great humour. The end is really never the end with this game. Not even sure I´ve seen all the game has to offer but having seen most of it I can put it down now.
Star Wars: Tales from the galaxys edge VR - not been feeling the urge to play it at all since last week, which is pretty telling. Mediocre game, but I think I´m gonna drop it. There are other games I want to play instead.
A Plague Tale - Requiem - I played this back at release on the Series S but I'm going back to it now on the PS5 pro, really enjoying the game. Loved the first one as well, need to add the platinum of Requiem to the collection as it bugs me otherwise. Yes I’m wierd like that 😂
I'm a few hours into Banishers ghosts of new eden and Dredge on Series X. Both games are good so far and I might also try Carrion.
Visions of Mana and Dragon Age Veilguard on PS5 and Indiana Jones and Black Ops 6 on Xbox.
I finished Indiana Jones, so going back to the FF Pixel Remasters.
On Series X its still mostly Minecraft. I have most of the basic farms set up in my new settlement so its time to start planning the larger long term projects that I want for my new location.
On PS5 still playing some GT7 but not as much as i am not a huge fan of this weeks daily races.
Planning to look in on Diablo 4 season 7 when it starts next week. Also God of War Ragnarok drop on PS+ next week too so I expect to be putting time into that.
Atelier Totori and maybe The Great Ace Attorney on Playstation.
Gladius and maybe Cuphead on Xbox.
This weekend I’ll be focusing on a NG+ run in Stellar Blade. I’m halfway through and plan on wrapping up the platinum trophy. I forgot how brilliant this game is, from its soundtrack, combat, and ambience. Meanwhile, earlier this week I completed Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl and got the platinum for that. It’s an achievement I’m quite proud of, and after playing the first game — recently starting my entry into this franchise with Stalker 2 — I can confidently say it has become one of my favorite franchises.
Edit / Update: I just got the platinum for Stellar Blade. Now I’m unsure what to play next.
This weekend I'm continuing Black Myth: Wukong(just got past the Tiger Vanguard boss yesterday after having been stuck on it for a few days, great game so far, getting Sekiro-vibes from the level of challenge on display) and on Switch I'll bounce between Cassette Beasts and...Balatro actually.
More Stalker 2 on Series X - just reached an important decision point. About 60 hours in and still really enjoying myself.
Toiling away at the remaining Spider-Man 2 trophies. I finished the story last night and have to say my brief increase in enthusiasm was defused at little as I thought the finale was a bit of a let down. Ok game overall, will be glad to have it done with.
On Series X I’m making good progress in Indiana Jones, currently exploring the delightful Siam. I’ve taken a really long time with this game and loved every second of it.
Have a great weekend everyone 👍
Working on first playthroughs of Pokemon scarlet on switch, hogwarts legacy on xbox, and Medieval remaster on ps5.
With a healthy dose of civ 6 and flight sim 24.
I'll be on the road 96 great game great music, story as well and just relaxing to play and I'll probably jump on Indiana Jones as well just after getting to Egypt but kinda miss the Vatican!!
It's probably that Catholic blood in me haha 😂!
Happy weekend peoples!!
I’ve been delving into my back catalogue recently. Assassins Creed Mirage - which I got for Christmas 2023! - has been getting the most play. Quite enjoying the back to basics gameplay, and Ubisoft’s depiction of Baghdad is gorgeous. Also from my back catalogue - I’ve finally got around to playing Slay the Spire! This has been on my Xbox for a good few years now, but I just never got around to playing it. I’m enjoying the combination of a roguelike with card deck building mechanics.
Finishing up deaths door finally before it leaves gamepass at the end of the month. Then maybe some tunic, or maybe some dynasty warriors origins if it comes in the mail.
First Descendent, grinding for the new character, Ines.
Deaths Door too before it leaves Gamepass.
I finally sat down and spent more than fifteen minutes at a time with Indy, it’s a really fun game. I also started Kingdom Come Deliverance recently, so I’ll be playing that as well. It’s realism is something that would normally put me off of a game, but it really works with KCD.
Jedi Survivor final level, South Park 2 dlc and lego marvel 100% grind
@Boldfoxrd
I finished the Skywalker saga %100 last weekend. Took me 90 hrs.
Just finished beating Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Gonna do another play through. Maybe jump into Street Fighter 6.
I haven't played much in the last month and some outside of Mario Kart with my daughter (who has recently been obsessed with it) while I've been working on music, but I have been playing a bit of Indiana Jones, and I'm really liking it. Just got through the Vatican and looking forward to seeing more of what comes next.
On switch just DQIII hd2d. On xbox wwe 2k24 and visions of mana.
Honestly, I’ll probably play Skyrim at some point. I can’t believe I touched it for five minutes when my son discovered it on my Xbox 360 and now I’m mildly hungry for it… again… eight playthroughs over the years aren’t enough, I guess? It’s sort of amazing how well it holds up, but it also sort of makes me feel a little weird about current games because it just feels better than most of what I played last year.
I should play some more Indy. I’d like to beat it before the Xbox showcase in case there’s a shadow drop.
Friends of mine want me to play Hunt and Marvel Rivals, but plans just haven’t coincided for that. I’m sure that’ll eventually happen, but will it be this weekend?
Oh, and then there’s the ever present Balatro which is the only certain thing in gaming lately. I’ve played it on my phone every day since it’s released on mobile to some extent... and that’s after owning it on PS and Switch. I think I’ve got an addiction.
Have driven every centimetre of the UK in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and have headed off to the continent.
Need to get back to Zelda BotW.
This weekend, I've been running around in Diablo 4, Roblox and earlier today, picked up and started playing Miside on my Steam Deck.
Finally finished the main story in Star Wars Outlaws, took me 112 hours and I loved it all. I intend to return and mop up lots of smaller quests as I just love the world and the vibe.
I started Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth from my backlog. It tells a good story if you played the previous title, but I've spent about 1 hour of my first 14 watching story and not actually playing at all, so that balance will need to change quickly for me. I love Ichi but I want to play as him, not just watch . I'm sure it will start to balance out soon!
Whatever you are playing this weekend I hope you have fun..
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Adventure mode and Dailies as usual.
Gravity Guy (Windows Phone) - Nearly halfway through it now.
Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - I'm not very familiar with this franchise, slowly getting the hang of it though.
Playing Doom (2016). I never finished it so I thought I'd start over and finish it and then play Doom Eternal which i haven't played yet. Prepping for a hopefully Doom Dark Age 2025 release
Stuck into baldurs gate 3 again, just like last year.
Still need to finish metaphor, and I feel like I need to play episode aigis in case p3r leaves next month. Busy.
Well here we go with another interesting WAYP. The week was some new games and some of the GOTY hunt again. Trails Through Daybreak, Emio and Metaphor with some Mario and Luigi and WWE2K24. Started Wuthering Waves too and honestly of all these Gacha games it’s the best not Hoyoverse game of all of them. Most of the weekend was spent with Mario and Luigi Brothership and Wuthering Waves. Mario and Luigi is honestly just a good comfort game and I’m not just saying that. Granted I ain’t played much because I’ve been going in on Trails Through Daybreak like Alana but I feel bad for that because it’s genuinely cute, comforting and fun it reminds of Bowsers Inside Story And with Wuthering Waves like I said it’s a game that honestly may not be the best but like I said outside of the trio of Genshin, Star Rail and Zenless it may genuinely be like 4th place then it’s fun, cute, has awesome characters and a really interesting world. And fantastic combat. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be maybe some Marvel Rivals or YS Memoire The Oath in Felghana. Didn’t start that one yet but it’s apparently stellar so I’m excited. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Emio, Dawntrail, Metaphor, YS, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and WWE 2K24. Try to start Tales of Graces F Remastered and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD too. Genuinely wanna try to beat Emio too like for real. As a side note the Switch 2 getting announced really makes me wanna go hard in the switch and just destroy that backlog because I’m so excited. GameStop actually didn’t even get a copy of Dynasty Warriors Origins although I preordered it so we’re gonna just wait on that one. Little disappointed I won’t lie but I’m excited to crack into it when they do get a copy. The wrestling thing this week being more of WWE on Netflix. This second week of it was way better with things like the debut of Penta and Lyra Valkyria becoming the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Here’s hoping Saturday Nights Main Event and the Royal Rumble as well as the continuing Netflix RAWs keep the good vibes going. Anime of the week gotta go to Dragon Ball Daima and Shangri La Frontier and Yakuza Fiancé and Ron Kaminohashis Forbidden Deductions and My Happy Marraige. Slotted in that last one to replace Ranma for now. Still gotta focus on the picks for Winter still dunno what we’ll do with those. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be cool to each other. Have a totally amazing weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
