Well, there we have it. After ranting about the slow trickle of ActiBlizz games coming to Game Pass right at the end of last week, the team goes ahead and announces another one - Spyro Reignited Trilogy is coming to the service tomorrow, November 12th. Following on from the addition of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy back in August, another set of family-friendly platformers will enter the library soon - and anyone who played these back in the day will no doubt love this new arrival.
We have a special sort of nostalgia for the original Spyro trilogy, you know. Yes, it never felt as big as Crash back in the PS1 days, and yes, some of those later releases in the franchise were a bit underwhelming, but man - these three games in particular are some brilliant 3D platformers that still hold up to this day.
We've seen a few small in-house arguments break out at Pure Xbox HQ recently about which of these ActiBlizz series' is best, and while we never quite agree on the true Activision platforming king, this lil' purple dragon definitely deserves his spot alongside his more popular bandicoot brother. Plus, these remasters are gorgeous, extremely polished and only further highlight how good Insomniac's original efforts were.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy errs more on the open-area 'collectathon' side of the platforming world, but these games never overdid it in that department. In the current era, this trilogy makes for a 3D platformer that feels modern to control - you get none of that jarring Crash clunkiness that comes from the different, admittedly more unique perspective that Crash plays from. Spyro is just good old over-the-shoulder platforming fun, and it'll be really easy to get back into in 2024.
That's why we reckon that this new Xbox Game Pass addition will be a true nostalgia trip for those of you who've embarked on these platforming journeys before. Spyro Reignited Trilogy plays exactly as you remember the old games playing, and that's brilliant for hopping back in and taking a trip down memory lane. New players will be welcomed with open arms, too - we mean it when we say that these '90s-born Spyro games still feel modern to this day.
So, 3D platformer fans from all walks of life will be wise to embrace this latest ActiBlizz Xbox Game Pass addition; we're certainly looking forward to seeing what you all have to say about it later this week. Spyro Reignited Trilogy finally comes to the Xbox Game Pass library on November 12th.
Spyro fans, are you ready to head down memory lane this week? Tell us your plans down below!

I loved the original as a kid and kind of remember playing some of the second one in a friends I'll enjoy playing through the trilogy its finally on game pass!
It's often on sale. No need for subscription here.
Great addition.
I'm surprised they haven't added Crash Team Rumble with how much that game would benefit from having a player base injection
The beloved classic trilogy comes GamePass!!
Had it for years. Very frequently on sale too. It is a blast.
Spectacular set of games, brilliant top tier stuff. This gamepass drop means nothing to me as I’ve bought these on disc long ago so I could permanently own them, but if you somehow haven’t played these yet (what is wrong with you?) they’re absolutely worth the download.
@Nintendo4Sonic No need to buy because it's finally on subscription I think 💩🙆👏
@Nintendo4Sonic BETTER CHANGE YOUR NAME! NINTENDO MIGHT SUE! Chris Chan coming for that bottom if he finds out Sonic is in ya name.
@Ricky-Spanish ok. So you want to pay for Gamepass Ultimate your whole life?
@Hydralicmonkey I started with Nintendolife and as you might know, purexbox and pushsquare.com are all the same system. So I don't see a reason to change my name.
@Nintendo4Sonic Yes
Great game! Bought it long time ago. I wish it could be upgraded to S/X with 4k60 though. Anyways, great addition for those who have not played yet.
But of course people are not happy again.
In a nutshell:
Gamers: “Please add older activision games on GP”
MS: adds
Gamers: “Oh but its always on sale, no need for sub”.
Lol
I got this on Xbox a few months back to show support for a 3D platformer on the console. Started the first game a month or so ago and it's pretty good so far.
@Nintendo4Sonic just a small addition to your comment "No need for MY subscription here". Many people will have a great time playing it now at no extra cost.
I wonder what other past Activision games we could see on Game Pass in the future. It would also be cool if Microsoft resurrected the Backwards Compatibility program again to take advantage of the Activision acquisitions.
Now that they own Bethesda/id and Activision, it would be great to have Quake 4 and Wolfenstein 2009 brought back from obscurity.
Also, the Prototype games, and if they could work it out with Disney... The Simpsons Hit and Run
It seems to be taking a long t9me for Activision's backlog to come to game pass. Hopefully we'll get sekiro (published by Activision) and Tony hawk remastered soon
It's a nice addition, but it's been around and on such good sales so often if you haven't played it, you probably weren't weren't that interested in the first place. $13-16 for 3 classic Platformers is very affordable.
Speaking of Activision games, it seems one of the Transformers projects for 2024 is gonna be the relisting of Devastation - they just announced a new toyline for the game. Between that and recent the War for Cybertron toyline, I can see Hasbro giving Microsoft a pretty good licensing deal for the games since it'll be great advertising.
This is the new strategy for game pass that makes much more sense than a shot gun blast. Add games to game pass strategically to fill in holes, lower costs, and appeal to all those new subscribers who are trying out game pass for cod.
@Nintendo4Sonic No not at all why so black and white chill mate some like subscription services for what they are I'm sorry if that isn't what your looking to hear💪
@Foxx_64740 no extra cost, yes. But the Gamepass costs money the whole time and it's just renting.
@Nintendo4Sonic and what's the problem if people want to "rent" games?
@Foxx_64740 nothing. Go rent your games
@Nintendo4Sonic thank you.
Go buy a temporary licence to your games too ❤️
@Nintendo4Sonic The way I see it, is... I can't really justify spending £50-£70 on multiple games anymore. So, I might not own the games, but GamePass has been a blessing and has given me access to those games I can't really afford to purchase.
Great addition as the Crash n sane trilogy! I remember playing the first game on PS1 as a kid. I am going to play and finish this one as i did and finished the Crash trilogy. Anyone who wants to play it through gamepass is great, anyone who wants to buy it is also great. I don't understand what's the fuss about it. It's a matter of preference, but if you want to own it you can still buy it, even if it's on gamepass 🤷♂️.
