Although August has felt a little quiet for major new Xbox releases (don't worry, we've got plenty next month!), it's ending things in a big way with the likes of Age of Mythology: Retold, Visions of Mana, and of course, Star Wars Outlaws.
Yes, Ubisoft's first crack at a Star Wars adventure is a little over a week away for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and following our recent hands-on preview of the game, we're keen to see how the full experience stacks up.
Before we get to the reviews though, we're interested to know if you're planning to pick up Star Wars Outlaws later this month. There's been a bit of controversy over how expensive some of the special editions are ($129.99 for the Ultimate Edition on the Xbox Store), but the standard version is as low as £56.95 here in the UK for a physical copy, so you shouldn't need to break the bank to get started with this one.
And of course, don't forget that Ubisoft Plus is an option on Xbox these days - for £14.99 / $17.99, you can get a month's subscription along with access to the Ultimate Version of Star Wars Outlaws, which even allows you to start playing three days early on August 27th. If you think you can finish it in a month, that might be a great idea!

I'll see how it is if it's typical ubisoft then no wish they would just make a new trials game that's not bad!
Nah. I’m good. Ubisoft is just on my do-not-give-money list anymore.
I'm picking up a one month Ubisoft+ this month 🤣
Probably not, but I still want to see how the reviews shake out.
I refuse to pay more than £50 for ANY game and for £50, I'd expect to get 'Everything' - not have to pay more to get the content they have 'cut' or haven't finished yet so will arrive post launch.
As it's a Ubisoft game, it will likely be on sale in months after release so if it reviews 'OK', I'll consider picking it up as and when its on Sale. Its an Ubisoft game so I expect it will feel like I've already played the game - just with a different skin...
I refuse to buy games 'Day 1' - not because of Game Pass - but because I am not 'desperate' for something to play and therefore not paying a 'Premium' to play it Day 1 - the day it is often at its worst to play and also has the least amount of Features and/or Content as they'll be patches to add features/content and improve the way it runs, fix bugs etc so it will be a 'bigger, better' game for a lot less money in a year. Every game these days seem to release with a 'base' game - but then you'll miss out on all this extra stuff that should be in the game, but now you need to pay more for the 'full' experience... Look at Goldeneye - extra Maps, Characters etc were all in the game and lasted me 'years' of playing it regularly...
I grew up when you could buy a game for £2 on a tape - Dizzy by Codemasters for example and 'Premium' games were £10 but came in a box with either tape/Disc and often had a 'book' with the box. Consoles were 'Premium' priced because they came on Cartridge with massive manufacturing costs and materials so can't 'compare' with modern Pricing even taking inflation into it - £10 in 1986 is like £36.73 so they are exploiting Gamers and using Console Cartridge prices as their example despite a completely different and 'almost non-existent now' Manufacturing/shipping cost.
I still have hundreds of games to play in my backlog - thanks to years of Gaming and Backwards Compatibility. I'll still play the 'same' online games with friends too. Add in all those years of Games with Gold and Game Pass games I also have access to, I'm now happy to wait and spend money my money in sales (adding to my Backlog) and/or content in games I'm playing (DLC, Cosmetics etc) - get a lot more for my money instead!
Will play it with Ubi+ and then buying the Ultimate version later.
I think it is advisable, with open world games especially, to wait a bit to play them, with the complexity that these titles have they always need a few patches until it's possible to play them without too many bugs.
So I'll wait for a discount, I may hopefully even be able to play it thanks to Gamepass.
I’d get a month of Ubi+ if this is worthwhile. I’m getting Wukong, so I’ll probably be busy (and September is loaded) for a while, but I’d like to try it
I can't remember the last Ubisoft game I was interested in. From Dust maybe?
@JenkinssMy My man. From Dust was an absolute gem.
Definitely a discount game for me. I like ubisoft games but not Star Wars. I am not that hyped for it.
It looks kind of bad. Will see how reviews are. I don’t like Star Wars enough to waste time on a mediocre game.
Day one buy for sure. I'm trying to finish up some smaller games before this comes out
Big, fat no.
Star Wars has lost all its charm for me. But the game looks horrible on top of that. Cant imagine I would even play it for free.
Certainly not a day one purchase for me.
I might get it in the future once it starts getting a deep sale discount & I have enough spare points to get the store credits alongside that.
Outside chance I might rent it via Ubisoft+ if I am bored at some point before those sales kick in.
Waiting for reviews and non-Ubisoft-proctored gameplay. It looks fun but a lot of what we’ve seen recently has me a bit wary. If it reviews well and the gameplay looks good, I’ll get it on discount or pay for a month of Ubsioft+.
Waiting for deep sale or used physical. Preferably $20. If it's like a PS3 era Uncharted game with nicer visuals in a SW world, I'm satisfied
From what i have seen and heard i will be on the day one train. But the standard version.
Day 1 buy for me. I actually enjoy the majority of Ubisoft games.
I wish they would release sales figures for the Ultimate Edition so we can see how many dumba$$e$ there are.
On console? Absolutely not based off Jedi Survivor and Avatar.
On PC? Potentially. Likely this is the only way to play not at 30/40fps or at sub 1440p.
Ubisoft+ is not working on Xbox atm.

Most likely is a no for me as I never enjoyed a open world Ubi game both from gameplay and narrative. Will wait to see if it is somehow different but not raising my expectations by much lol
I personally love Ubisoft games, its not for everyone the maps and the points of interest, but me I like it
I would usually buy the Ultimate Edition of a game, and that is what I would have done for Outlaws. However, I have not bought this game at all even though it is definitely something that interests me. I simply refuse to pay £120 for a game. So I have decided to wait until the game is at a more reasonable price. Truthfully, the fact that Ubisoft are renowned for dropping the prices of their games after just a month or two plays into my decision, and if it were from a company that made us wait much longer, and offered us far more meagre reductions in price, then I might behave differently, but regardless, £120 is just too much to be asking...
I'm still deciding whether to buy it or get Ubisoft+ for a month. Either way, I'll be playing it straight away.
Ubisoft players should get used to not owning games me ubislop should get used to not having my money
