As we mentioned in our Xbox Developer Direct article a few weeks back, Xbox has a pretty stacked games lineup heading into 2025, with multiple first-party titles already scheduled to release this year. The question is, which of these games are you most excited about at this stage?
Right now at least, only one of these has a confirmed release date in Avowed, but the rest are all planned for release sometime in 2025 too. We've heard rumblings of potential March and May launches for South of Midnight and DOOM: The Dark Ages respectively, but neither of those have been announced yet - and that would make for a packed first part of the year for Xbox if it were to shake out that way.
It's expected that The Outer Worlds 2 will be later in the year — especially with Obsidian dropping Avowed in February — and given the ambitious nature of Xbox's Fable reboot, we're not anticipating that one just yet either. We hope they both still make the cut for 2025 though!
Anyway, regardless of whereabouts they land in the year, which of these Xbox games are you the most excited to play in 2025? You can only pick one in the poll down below - so choose wisely and talk to us about your top choice down in the comments section.
Which Xbox Game Are You Most Excited About? (1,055 votes)
- Avowed
- DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Fable
- South Of Midnight
- The Outer Worlds 2
- Towerborne0.7%
Here's hoping we get to play all of these Xbox first-party games sometime in 2025!

Personally, I'm looking forward to playing all of them...!
I voted for Fable, but it was a real close call as South of Midnight looks excellent, and I'm not even certain that Fable will be out this year...! 🤪
South of Midnight and Avowed.
Doom for me but what a stellar year. Odds are a call for duty will be there too, possibly even gears.
Doom for me! It would be Fable but honestly I just can’t see it releasing this year…I would love to be wrong though.
Only excited for The Outer Worlds 2 to be honest. Will give the others a try because I can but not excited for them at the moment.
Very much looking forward to play all of them. Still, voted for Outer Worlds 2 because Obsidian are one of my favourite developers.
Voted Fable because I wanna see what playground games does with the IP. But south of midnight is my main interest because of the stop motion style and just the flair it seems to be going for. I love a game where you hunt mythical creatures and learn about their existence. Especially from cultures far removed from my own
I voted for South of Midnight, assuming Outer Worlds 2 would have more votes than it. But the results showed the opposite. Just wanted it known that I am very excited for Outer Worlds 2 too!
DOOM: The Dark Ages, if it does release this year.
I'm most excited to play DOOM: The Dark Ages, even if I am a little apprehensive regarding its setting.
I'm not a fan of Fable or The Outer Worlds; my wife, however, is very much a fan of both, so I hope both Fable and The Outer Worlds 2 turn out well.
Avowed because it looks great and has a release date. Im also very much interested in South of Midnight. Odd ball game I'm hoping for this year is Mixtape.
Definitely Fable. I’ll be looking for an RPG of superlative quality, and Avowed just isn’t it. I’ll be curious to see if Fable goes down in history as another Killzone debacle where the trailer isn’t even close to what the actual gameplay looks like, or if they actually pull it off.
It's hard to say. Would have voted Fable but we still don't know anything.
Went for Avowed.
It has to be fable. Absolutely loved fable 2. Just hope it's similar to that one and not 3. I'm also hyped for avowed. Gonna do a playthrough of poe and poe2 soon to learn the lore
Other: Oblivion Remake/Remaster. Feel free to hold me to it.
On that list DOOM, followed by high hopes for Avowed and Towerborne.
Fable for me but I don't think it will come out this year I was interested in avowed but there's no way I'm playing that at 30 fps till they decide release a performance mode for it no way. I expect doom the dark ages and the outer worlds 2 to be amazing
South of Midnight, but it’s the first year in a while that I can safely say all of them!
Are they gonna be first party though
I can't remember, but I think I liked south of midnight when I saw the trailer. Can't remember if it was that or something else haha. Never been a fan of any first party xbox games tho.
I’m itching for some fantasy worlds, so I voted Avowed. I would’ve voted Fable but I think that will release in 2026.
@CenturianShark If they are made by Microsoft /Xbox game studios then they will always be First Party.
South of Midnight, Fable and Avowed.
South of Midnight looks awesome, but there's also a couple others that I'm looking forward too, so definitely an exciting year!!!
South of Midnight just looks interesting,
Even if the gameplay is an assassin's creed-esque affair, I could look at the 15 on 30 on 60fps art style all day. I know it's not for everyone, but I love it.
Fable…. But it’s also the one I’m most worried about as it’s a bit of an unknown quantity. Playground games did brilliantly with Forza Horizon 1-5 but this is a different challenge. Fingers crossed.
But im looking forward to all of them.
Fable easily. The Outer Worlds never quite clicked with me so not really bothered about the 2nd offering.
SoM looks kinda cool too, though will depend on the storyline I feel.
I voted Doom. Would have voted Avowed if it had a 60 fps mode at launch.
Fable for me tho’ I’m not convinced it will be this year so I will content myself with Avowed to start the year off, Outer Worlds 2 to see the year out and….something else in the middle. 🤓
Towerborne with just 0.7% of the vote 🤣 that game is going to be a huge flop and I can't wait to watch it crash and burn.
My vote is for Fable.
hello there fellow gamers.
The Xbox First party game I´m most excited about is Fable, followed by The Outer Worlds 2, Doom The Dark Ages and South of Midnight.
It does seems like it´s going to be a really good year for Xbox.
More so If Gears of War E-Day also launches in 2025.
We´ll see how it goes.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming
