Another month is in the books for Xbox Game Pass, and July ended up being a pretty eventful one in the end! The highlight for many, of course, was the first ever Call of Duty title on the service in the form of Modern Warfare 3.
Before that though, there were some big day one releases on Xbox Game Pass in July, with the 18th and 19th notably treating us to Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Dungeons Of Hinterberg and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.
Some of the other favourites here include Neon White, The Case of the Golden Idol and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members were also treated to a 10-hour trial of EA Sports College Football 25.

I've been thoroughly enjoying my time playing Dungeons of Hinterberg. I'm around 5 dungeons in and it's a nice chill game. I'll probably check out Tchia too after im done.
I’ve really been into No Man’s Sky since the World Update 1 was announced. It’s been great getting back into it again.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
An interesting and somewhat recycled campaign, 8 hours and a half long, so not as short as some people say, with charismatic characters, great storytelling and trademark excellent gameplay, so not as bad as those people say! The campaign consists of 14 missions and ends abruptly on a cliffhanger. Rushed development is the reason. Multiplayer modes excel.
I choose Modern Warfare 3, the campaign has been a surprise for me, I didn't expect anything good and I enjoyed it a lot.
It was June, not July, but Still Wakes the Deep finally got cleared from my backlog. Fantastic few hours of gaming.
MW3 for me. It feels good to be into a call of duty game again. I am mostly holding my own but every few games I get absolutely stomped.
I’ve absolutely loved Dungeons of Hinterberg. Finished it today and enjoyed every minute.
Kunitsu-Gami!
I cancelled my GP sub, but I’ve tried and played enough of these to say Kunitsugami is the best of this batch.
Call of duty for me it's the only game I properly played loving the multiplayer again after all these years and the biggest change from last time is I don't care about my k/d ratio anymore much more enjoyment instead of stressing over stats
@BacklogBrad I'm with you mate loving playing cod again ain't been on the multiplayer or game since the 360 days!🤺
Nice to see hinterberg get some love. Case of the golden idol needs more attention tho.
Magical delicacy and Tchia are also bangers.
I just finished path of the godess this morning and for me it is one of my favorite gamepass game this year.
Cod3 when matchmaking is good...
MW3 for me. Enjoying the zombies mode and will pay single player. Though I was an amazing month.
Kunitsu-Gami! Next for me an Hinterberg followed by flint stock. Great month for me
I can't grade this objectively, only based on my personal gaming tastes, so with that in mind this is an F. There's nothing here for me except Journey to the Savage Planet which I played on gamepass a long time ago, and it was passable.
I'm not a gamepass complainer, tons of strong months this year and I'm certainly not wanting for games to play right now.
Best single month I've seen, personally.
Loved flintlock, as I'm a big a44 fan. Kunitau gami is one of the best games of the year and such fun. Dungeons of hinterberg was cozy but cute and engaging. Neon white is a game I normally wouldn't like but immediately blasted through. I've played with the madman behind the ost and boy it did not disappoint. Flock was relaxing and serene. I haven't gotten to thcia but I'm sure to enjoy that too.
Unique offerings/variety I loved and that's more games in one month than I normally would play from the back library.
Bravo.
I don't know what would top this for me.
I don't touch cod fish
A pretty strong month with something for everyone. Case of the Golden Idol was my favourite, I really enjoyed solving the scenarios and the story is terrific. I ended up buying both the DLC levels too, which are also great and are a prequel to the main game.
The Case of the Golden Idol or Neon White.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess seemed like it was great but it was a bit too slow for me.
Everything else this month was just average.
This is a really incredible month.
Imagine Modern Warfare 3, the worst CoD game being your game of July 😂
Call of Duty 4 can still be played online. The PC lobbies are stacked!
I played through Magical Delicacy. Really liked it. It's like an adventure game crossed with a metroidvania. There's no combat, you collect ingredients and make food and potions to complete missions and unlock new abilities to progress further. Good game that hooked me but probably not for everyone.
Also played MW3. The monetisation makes it feel like a mobile game. Can't imagine how I'd feel if I'd paid full price for it. Absolutely ridiculous.
Neon White occupied a big chunk of my time. Utterly excellent game.
I am playing through Hinterburg right now and cannot believe how fun this game has been. It's as if Old School Zelda's puzzle dungeons and Persona's social links had a baby.
