The original Planet Coaster (well, the Console version at least) was actually a launch title for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S back in 2020, and four years later, we're finally being treated to a sequel in Planet Coaster 2!

We've talked about this game elsewhere on Pure Xbox - such as how the big addition is the ability to create your own water parks - but what are the reviews saying? There aren't many of them yet, but let's take a look at a few examples:

GameGrin (8.5/10)

"Planet Coaster 2 is one of the pinnacles of the theme park simulator genre and while it doesn’t have a smooth learning curve for newcomers, it’s safe to say that those who have already mastered its systems will enjoy it immensely."

Push Square (8/10)

"In conclusion, Planet Coaster 2 is a worthy sequel to the original and it seems Frontier has really listened to fan feedback and delivered what fans have been longing for. If you liked the original then you'll love this follow-up, but genre newcomers could find the sheer spectrum of options here a touch overwhelming."

Metro (8/10) - Reviewed The Xbox Version

"Everything you could want from a theme park simulator, with a near endless collection of modes and options, and an endearingly cheerful tone and sense of humour."

GamesRadar (3.5/5)

"The graphics are stunning, the water slide additions are fun, and the creative potential is immense, but it comes at a cost. The complexity of infrastructure systems interrupts the creative flow, making the impressively customizable experience feel unnecessarily convoluted at times."

It's still very early days for Planet Coaster 2 in terms of Xbox reviews, with just two of them appearing on Metacritic right now, but it seems a fairly safe bet to suggest that if you enjoyed the original, you'll like this sequel as well.

The game has an official release date of this Wednesday, November 6th for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and you can pre-order it now on the Xbox Store. There are two different versions, with the cheapest being £39.99 / $49.99.
