With today's fresh Xbox Game Pass update delivering 10 games for the service over the next few weeks, it's looking like we'll all have plenty to enjoy as XGP subscribers for the rest of the month - including some day one releases. But, it's worth taking note of one decade-old addition that'll still be an absolute blast to play when it heads to the service later in April.
Those of you that have been around here for a while will know that I love a bit of Far Cry. Sure, my relationship with the series has soured somewhat with some of the more recent entries, but Far Cry 3 in particular is an absolute all-timer - and 2014's Far Cry 4 isn't far behind either. This was the series at its absolute peak in my opinion!
FC4 took the rock-solid foundations of its predecessor, mixed things up with a gorgeous Himalayan setting, delivered yet another compelling villain and threw it on the Xbox One to boot. That made it one beautiful open world playground to go and explore - one that's also running at 60FPS these days if you play on Xbox Series X|S.
The shooting mechanics were tightened up quite nicely with this entry too, and combined with some fun & trippy side missions and super varied environments in open-world Kyrat, Far Cry 4 really does stand the test of time as a great Xbox shooter. It's not revolutionary, but if you're into just messing about with loads of guns and gadgets in a big old open world, look no further than this upcoming XGP addition.
On that note, Far Cry 4 officially joins the Xbox Game Pass library on April 30th, so that's definitely something to look forward to at the end of the month here. Sure, most of us have probably had the chance to get stuck into this first-person shooter already, but if you haven't, the end of this month will be a very good time to do so. Xbox Game Pass delivers again!
Far Cry 4 fans, tell us what you like about this one down below. And if you've never played it, let us know if you're planning to try it out on Xbox Game Pass!

I'm glad for those that like far cry games they are eating good with gamepass screw Ubisoft+👏
Far Cry 4 has always been my favourite of the series, glad to see it coming to gamepass finally
Excellent entry, possibly pushing out 3 for me. The setting is just stunning and so much fun to play 👍
Ubisoft really needs to make a new Far Cry Instincts. That formula was great. It's a shame they only did one stand alone expansion and a port of them for the 360.
Easily one of the best in the series along with 5.
I have 1 achievement left to unlock on Far Cry 4 (the one and only online pvp achievement) due to no one playing online anymore, so hopefully adding this to GP will bring in some new players and i can finally 100% this game
4 is actually the only one in the series I haven’t played. No real reason, I just didn’t get to it. I am tempted.
I know Far Cry games get a bit of stick but I enjoy them. I'm looking forward to this much more than GTA.
I agree that FC 3 was the peak but I have to say 6 is decent too!
@tacosharko I would be down for pairing up on this pal, I'm planning to start a replay on xbox very soon (I already own the game) I remember getting a partner for the PS4 version was particularly onerous.
Not a bad entry. My favourite setting would be Far Cry 5, though. That and AC Odyssey was the last Ubisoft titles I actually bought. (2018).
Any hope of a resolution boost? FC4 is the best of the series and the one I've replayed the most (along with Primal).
Far Cry 5 on GP was a fun one to relax and cause a little havoc. Not sure if it is still there. I had completed all the others on PC and got burned out after FC4. Felt good to return after a long break.
I thought Farcry 5 was the best of the series the opening is amazing and the dude who played the cult leader was just great. I didi think that it was kinda funny what Ubisoft thinks of Americans who are anti gov. If they think everyone who owns a a gun is slightly religious and doesnt trust the gov is a cult member they should probably not go to Texas.
