Still Wakes The Deep (Xbox Series X|S)
What's that? You need me to navigate a collapsing oil rig to save my crew from an otherworldly horror on the edge of all logic and reality? In Scotland? In 1975? In this economy?
The Chinese Room has already proven itself time and time again, and Still Wakes The Deep's spooky and stylish disaster adventure looks set to continue set to continue (said that twice to wake you up a bit) that trend. Help your crew to escape an unimaginable terror! Featuring frequent violence and gore! We can't wait.
- Release Date: 18th June, 2024

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (Xbox Series X|S)
No, it's not exactly a brand-new game, but how can we not have Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on this list?! It's a highly anticipated expansion for a game that was crowned the Pure Xbox Game of the Year in 2022, and its pre-order price tag of £34.99 / $39.99 suggests we're going to be getting a lot of content out of this new DLC.
In terms of what you can expect, there's an "all-new story" here complete with new enemies, weapons, equipment and more, set amidst the Land of Shadow that features uncharted territories and perilous dungeons. It might sound pretty expensive for an expansion, but we're confident this is going to be an amazing release this June.

- Xbox Game Pass? No
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Xbox Series X|S)
Another surprise announcement that we were treated to earlier in 2024 was in the form of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance coming to Xbox, with Atlus confirming it'll be getting Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions.
The "Vengeance" part refers to this being a definitive edition of the 2021 RPG, which is said to be "massively expanded" with a new storyline featuring new locations, demons, and choices. We'll be there day one for this!
- Release Date: 21st June 2024
- Xbox Game Pass? No
Black Myth: Wukong (Xbox Series X|S)
If you haven't seen the 13 minute gameplay video for Game Science's Black Myth: Wukong yet, you may be surprised to see it on this list, but just go ahead and take a look at that jaw-dropping footage and you'll likely find yourself as hyped as we are.
This incredible looking action-RPG has got a wonderfully Chinese look and feel to its world, which makes sense as it's based on the Journey to the West mythological stories - that's those 16th century novels full of lads kicking the dirt out of each other. Players assume the role of the Monkey King, Wukong, who can kick all manner of ass with up to 72 abilities and, judging from that action-packed trailer, we reckon we could be in for a real treat when this one drops at the tail end of summer.
- Release Date: 20th August 2024
- Xbox Game Pass? No
Dustborn (Xbox Series X|S)
Dustborn, the latest adventure from Norwegian dev studio Red Thread Dreams, was something of a nice surprise during Gamescom 2023. This ultra-stylish road trip movie sees you take off across a Neo-Western, alternate reality version of America as Pax, one member of a group of renegades charged with delivering a special package cross-country.
The twist? Pax can use words to destroy enemies in combat, with the current trailers showing off branching dialogue paths and conversational choices that can defeat foes and change the course of the story's events. We are 100% down for discovering the hidden power of words alongside a ragtag bunch of misfits when this cel-shaded adventure drops in the near future.

- Xbox Game Pass? No
Star Wars Outlaws (Xbox Series X|S)
Listen. We're all in real danger of turning into a blinking Star Wars with the amount of Star Wars stuff we've all been Star-Warsing lately. It's been non-stop.
Nevertheless, Massive Entertainment has thrown caution to wind and is set to drop Star Wars Outlaws, its sprawling open world epic in 2024. We're all going to play it. Let's face it. It's Star Wars. Let's just keep our lightsabers crossed it's more A New Hope and less The Rise of Skywalker when it comes to the quality department.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (Xbox Series X|S)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2007's cult classic FPS horror. Boasting what appears to be a truly massive open-world, players will need to constantly be on their tippy toes as they prowl through the darkness of this all-new Exclusion Zone, the game's post-apocalyptic playground.
We've got absolutely no doubt that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is gonna be an intense, terrifying experience when it lands - the trailer looks immense - and we cannot wait to return to this franchise's unique world-building style. The game's development has, of course, been affected by the war in Ukraine but, after being pushed back from a 2022 release, and then again in 2023, we're looking forward to digging into this one very soon.
- Release Date: 5th September 2024

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (Xbox Series X|S)
Focus Interactive is another publisher that's been knocking it out of the park the past few years, and this long-awaited return to the grim-dark universe of Warhammer looks set to continue that happy trend.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 is looking like it means business, early previews are positive, it looks suitably meaty and badass, and we're itching to get step into the boots of Lieutenant Titus, the superhuman Space Marine who fights on behalf of the tyrannical Imperium of Man.
The trailer looks very Gears Of War we reckon, and if Gears of Wars spliced with Warhammer is what we end up getting here...well...we're in for quite the treat!
- Release Date: 9th September 2024
- Xbox Game Pass? No
Age of Mythology: Retold (Xbox Series X|S)
A definitive edition of the 2002 PC hit Age of Mythology was first announced all the way back in late 2022 for PC Game Pass, but this was followed up with very little fanfare in the months to come. Flash forward to early 2024, and Age of Mythology: Retold made its grand comeback as part of an Age of Empires event, with the big news being that it's also coming to Xbox!
Yes, Xbox fans will be getting their hands on Age of Mythology at some point later in 2024, with the game set to feature "modern real-time strategy design and visuals" alongside all the best bits from the original experience. We can't wait!
- Release Date: TBC 2024
- Xbox Game Pass? Yes
Ark 2 (Xbox Series X|S)
Studio Wildcard's survival sequel has been delayed a little from its original planned release date but, tbh, we can't be bothered focusing on anything negative like that because this game has got Vin Diesel attached to it, and that means it's going to be awesome, even if it's bad.
The studio's CEO, Doug Kennedy, has stated that "we are embarking on something which has NEVER been done in the 50 years of video games". So yeah, expect plenty of very convincing sex scenes alongside revamped survival antics and even bigger dinos! Ark 2 looks set to fix the issues we had with the OG experience and, not sure if we've mentioned this already, but it has Vin Diesel in it.
- Release Date? TBC 2024
- Xbox Game Pass? Yes

Thanks for the list!
We also know thanks to the add of Sony that Metal Gear Solid Delta is slated for 2024.
Boy did I enjoy the original Tomb Raider games but I am really hesitant about playing them again. Nostalgia can only get you so far.
Weird how Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden wasn't listed but Alone in The Dark was 🤔
Hope the PX community supports AA games as well as AAA.
Definetly a lot of games I'm interested in coming this year. Might personally be a better year for me than 2023. And that's crazy.
hellblade 2
metaphor
persona 3 reload
stalker 2
those my top picks
Ah man, thinking Bloodlines 2 is gonna release in 2024 is optimistic.
I noticed today that another media outlet is again saying that 2024 is the year XBox goes 3rd party only and stops making anymore consoles! Nate the Hate talking nonsense. Again.
Plenty of consoles to come from Xbox. Plenty.
Nice. Looking forward to TR remastered. Just picked up TR 1-3 definitive editions in the sale on Xbox and loving replaying them.
Looking forward to Star wars : dark forces remaster , blast from the past will keep me busy on that
Avowed. Though I'm playing through the first Hellblade and 2 is sounding like a good proposition, atm.
Thank you for this list. I use it every year to bookmark what I should check back in on later. For me, Pragmata, unique Sci-Fi games/stories, is where it's at.
Thanks again and may Jesus Christ bless you and your families always!
Enjoyed looking through that. Star Wars and space marine top of that list for me
Hopefully lots of sega games too and the new Contra in Q1. I’ve been playing lots of the Sega Classics collection the last few days. Picked up the wired 6 button 8 bit-do controller. Retro goodness coupled with BG3.
Other than the Contra and Sega remakes I don’t really have my eye on anything on the horizon at the moment. The new South Park game looks cool, 2023 is a hard year to follow.
@brettvsgodzilla Definitely the space marine game, looks proper cool. Never played the first one and not really a Warhammer fan but it looks so awesome
No To A T? Man, that’s the game I’m most excited for, unless OD drops.
Star wars Outlaws
Avowed
Hellblade. (I've still not even got through the first yet! It's on my backlog list though!)
Possibly Dragons Dogma 2 and flintlock we will see...
Dragon’s Dogma II is probably gonna be my game of the year. Unless Avowed somehow manages to be good under modern Obsidian and not just “outer worlds but fantasy”.
Hyped about Yakuza 8 and Tekken 8. Kiryu is the Dragon or Dojima, not Kojima by the way.
From Game Pass, I"m interested in Eiyuden, Avowed and Flinlock. Nothing else for me.
AC Red if it does come out.
So many games from that list isn’t coming to Game Pass but there is a good 4 or 5 that are that I’m looking forward to playing. I see Taxi Life isn’t on the list that’s releasing in February.
No mention of The Banishers, @PJOReilly? It comes out on the 13th of February...
@Fiendish-Beaver Oh, that's a great shout! Yep, looks like it could be good.
Looks like a promising new year for gaming. Looking forward to Tekken 8 and Dragon's Dogma 2 in particular.
Mortal Kombat***
The other games the list don't do much for me... Avowed seems interesting (but feels like vaporware at this point) and the rest is just too western flavored for my taste
Might want to check the release date for ark 2 before posting this article
@AlienigenX yep, DMC was a really good game and could've actually stood better on its own. It got solid gameplay and narrative, and ofc, the VAs were stellar.
I'm looking forward to the Dark Forces Remaster just as much as the TR Remasters. Surprised it wasn't mentioned in the article.
Only Eiyuuden, Flintlock and Avowed for me so far.
Looking forward to playing these on PS5!
Wild card doesn't even know when Ark 2 is coming out LOL
Article has been updated with some new entries (and February's have now been removed). We'll keep making adjustments over the next few months
tbc? im guessing that means no release date. there are alot of tbc and im worried.
how solid is stalker 2's sept release?
ark 2 has lots of sex? omg why?
well i think i can count on alone in the dark and star wars outlaws to be released.
Is shin megami more like final fantasy than the persona games? Like open world not how it is on persona? Also no time restraints?
No way you put silksong on the list 🤣🤣🤣 the subreddits gunna explode 🤣
Best would be in my opinion, bring all these games physical and stop the Gamepass.
@FraserG do you know if the system shock remake is still coming to console at all?last news was like October saying it was but not heard owt since🤣😭
@Decimateh Haven't heard anything recently but I assume it's still the plan!
@FraserG hope so 😂 thanks for replying 🙂
I was getting excited until I noticed most of those games, page 2 and after, don't have a release date. But I'll keep my eyes on Metaphor: Refantazio.
@Decimateh similar to persona. It's not open world. Final fantasy isn't open world either.
Shadow of the Erdtree is my #1 anticipated game and it’s not even close. And it’s not even a standalone title, it’s DLC. Such is the power of From Software. I’m also looking forward to Remnant 2 DLC and Lies of P DLC, though the latter has not been confirmed for 2024 yet.
As for actual full games Flintlock is the one I’m most interested in currently. I really hope it turns out good. Black Myth Wukong has potential to be great but after repeated lacklustre Unreal Engine 5 ports on Xbox I’m trying not to get too hopeful - I got burnt badly by Lords of the Fallen last year.
2024 is looking as strong as 2023 on Xbox. I'm excited about many of these, but I'm also intrigued about Alone in the Dark, because the last reboot was a mess according to those that played it. I became intrigued about Avowed when it was revealed, it looked really interesting. My most anticipated Xbox game is Fable, but that is further away.
@CutchuSlow thanks for replying semi open then 🤣 is it same with all the talking to get your better like friendship things or choosing which attributes to upgrade with ya spare time that n the timed stuff to it put me off. Prefer the FF style world maps going towns N dungeons etc
@Decimateh I'm not sure. I only played a bit of it. And didn't get far enough.
The System Shock Remake being free to play doesn't sound right?
@xanderten50 Apologies, that line was meant for MultiVersus below, but somehow got mixed up.
@FraserG I did wonder!
Also Neptunia Sisters vs Sisters and The First Descendant
Mulltiplat games not xbox games
So is the starfield DLC definitely 2025 now?
@Dimey I have it slotted in my brain for Fall 2024 but really just a guess… a year after release sounds about right…
If the System Shock remake is the same one that came to PC, it is highly regarded. I haven't had a chance to start it.
