As we fast approach the end of the year, it's already time to look ahead to what Xbox has in store for us in 2023. It's no secret that 2022 hasn't delivered quite as many AAA experiences as we would have liked, with many of them delayed out of the year for various reasons, but that means next year is already looking much stronger than we might have expected. In fact, in terms of Xbox Game Pass alone, 2023 should be a seriously fantastic year!
Let's check out some of the highlights. The obvious new Xbox Game Pass titles for 2023 to look forward to are Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport, all of which are Xbox console exclusives from Xbox Game Studios. Two of these games were originally scheduled for 2022, but have since been pushed into the 2023 lineup instead.
Another couple of highly anticipated Xbox Game Pass launches were delayed to 2023 recently in the form of Stalker 2 and Atomic Heart, both of which we can't wait for! Then, we've got some of the games that were announced for Xbox back in the summer, such as Lies of P, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Minecraft Legends and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, all of which should find large audiences when they arrive on Xbox Game Pass.
And we're not done there! Don't forget about Age of Empires 2 and 4 on Xbox for the first time ever, the arrival of Valheim on console, Persona 3 and 4, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, Warhammer 40k: Darktide and even GoldenEye 007!
If you want to see the full list of Xbox Game Pass games for 2023, you'll find it below:
And of course, those are just the games that have been announced so far. We'll undoubtedly be treated to many, many Xbox Game Pass announcements throughout 2023, hopefully even including a few more Xbox Game Studios surprises. Will we see Hellblade 2 or Avowed next year as well? Probably not, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.
The one thing that we can count on, as long as the deal goes through and is completed by the end of next year, is that Xbox will be bringing an absolute ton of Activision Blizzard games to Xbox Game Pass in 2023. There might be a few issues with Call of Duty, but everything else seems fair game as far as we can tell, so hopefully we'll also be playing the likes of Diablo, Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk and Spyro on Xbox Game Pass by this time next year.
So yeah, get ready for a big Xbox Game Pass year in 2023! We're really excited by what's included in the list so far, and hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg - there are plenty more reveals to come over the next 12-13 months!
What are you most excited for right now? Let us know down in the poll and comments below.

We have been saying this exact same thing for 3 years now, and we end up with 💩 like pentiment.
Ghostwire Tokio as well!
@cburg Yep, not confirmed yet but we all know it's happening
After switching from PS to Xbox for a while in this household, we are currently doing a combination of catching up on what’s been missed and playing third party games.
However, if it wasn’t for that, it would be hard to justify staying. It’s mainly the much cheaper cost of how easily I can get foreign games online to use here in the UK digitally that keeps me.
But if they start to release some brilliant big hitters, I’m sold on staying!
Either way, it’s rather difficult for me to complain about the lack of releases when playing catch up, and mainly playing third party.
And when I add to that getting Argentine or Turkish keys for so much less, something I can’t easily do on PS. I think they’d have to fail big for me to move.
I am looking forward to some of the future releases, but to be fair I’m not a fan of what some of the studios have produced before, so I’m a little wary.
Could, would should. Be careful of hyping it up now.
Starfield and HK:Silksong are two of my top 3 most anticiapted releases of 2023 alongside Zelda... everything else is well behind.
But we have been saying "next year is THE big year for Xbox" for around a decade now, at some point they have to start delivering.
Thankfully Game Pass continues to give plenty even if Xbox first party has been weak sauce.
Actually Redfall, Forza and Starfield are promised at the showcase before the end of June 2023.
The fact that is still very quiet, no new gameplay or dates for any of those three are beginning to dash my hopes for the games and about Xbox yet again.
Its about time to reward the faithful and release some big hitters, so I hope all the expected titles ship and have actually been worth waiting for.
Please note, I don't count myself as faithful as I play on all the systems, but there are good people here who I know just game on Xbox. It would be nice to see them get the big hitting AAA titles they deserve, and I want to use my series X more as well!
Actually not just the silence about the big three before the end of June 2023, Redfall, Forza and Starfield.
But in the UK and Europe the almost deathly
Silence on game pass the Xbox consoles and anything Xbox related.
We have billboards, tv and radio adverts pushing PlayStation and Switch coming into Black Friday and Christmas, especially TV main stream adverts.
I’m not joking it’s like XBOX does not exist in the UK and most of Europe.
And being honest XBOX now will most definitely not recover in these territories, they have blown it again to no advising, no big exclusive AAA and just pure dam arrogance my the higher ups.
Silksong is my top game release period of 2023. No other game even comes close, the original game clowns on all the AAA releases of the past decade. Will be playing it on Gamepass until the inevitable physical collector’s edition pops up online.
I have an interest in Redfall and very little faith in Starfield. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong, we’ll see.
Wo Long for me. Love me some Team Ninja.
Thankfully I can go to Push Square where they’re more excited about games like Lies of P and Atomic Heart coming to GamePass than people are on this site!
@awp69 Atomic Heart also looks quite good.
@Sakisa
Yes Redfall and Forza should hit the spot.
But the same as yourself, very little faith in Starfield.
I guess me and few other people are waiting for Atomic Heart, gameplay seems to be right up my alley. And it has been too long since last Bioshock.
Zero interest in Starfield for first 2 years post launch.
Wo long and Starfield are the two big standouts for me personally
@uptownsoul Does well rounded equate to toxic? The comments are as bad as Twitter. 😂

Aw ***** here we go again
Starfield and Diablo IV are basically tied for me, and Redfall isn't too far behind, but Stalker 2, Motorsport, Atomic Heart, and Wo Long all have me excited as well.
Based on it's getting 0% of the vote, I think the sleeper that could surprise everyone is Minecraft Legends. Based on some things I've read elsewhere, that one could be a lot of fun if they give it enough depth. More depth than Dungeons please.
So they held all their first party games till next year and we are supposed to forget this drought?
Anyone else fancy playing drinking game involving @Dezzy70 and "AAA"? Pretty much every comment of his involves the term "AAA" and Xbox's perceived lack of titles.
I'm fortunate enough to own both a series X and ps5. The only "AAA" Sony title I've bought at launch for my ps5 is Ragnarok. Horizon might well have "AAA" production values, but it doesn't stop it from being yet another generic sony open world title imo. I enjoyed the original on PS4, but it does seem like the majority of Sony's "AAA" titles are bloated open world copy and paste games. They're fast becoming the Ubisoft of the gaming world.
Say what you want about Xbox, but at least gamepass and Xbox studios provide a hugely diverse catalogue of game genres. "AAA" means nothing to me if all your games are the same. If you've spent 100+ hours in any of Sony's open worlds you're probably bored of chasing map markers and completing the same five objectives on loop.
Looking forward to next year for Xbox - another diverse lineup of titles to play day one on gamepass.
Remember when we were here last year saying the same thing? I’ve had a great year with my Xbox Series X. I don’t need a console seller to continue that either.
Im sure that’s what they said about 2021……… and 2022??? Heard it all before
@Eslam Pentiment happens to be a great game that fully deserves praise. Even if you don't like the game it's still one of the best games of the entire year.
And maybe wouldn't have even been made without Game Pass.
So stick the elitism up your own and let people enjoy their games.
@uptownsoul I sure did, they’re the worst, especially with how the mods handle things.
@Dezzy70 I think you're overreacting a bit there mate, I know it's almost panto season but you could reign it in a bit yeah?
@uptownsoul That’s very possible, I have no idea? I’m just referring to their comment sections in general being turrible.
I kinda remember last November 2021 we said the same thing about 2022....so this article just makes my head hurt lol...we always say could be a big year.... time will tell
I really hope so as we keep hearing this year in and year out. I do think that 2023 is key for Xbox and Gamepass. If lots of titles get delayed to 2024 or titles fail to materialise next year then it could see many leaving the Xbox brand.
@uptownsoul That’s a fair point. I think if those debates and arguments on PS weren’t moderated one sided it wouldn’t be near as bad. It’s still an echo chamber in the end.
Probably Forza is my most anticipated. I haven't played a decent non-arcadey racer since Project Cars 2. I loved Horizon 5, Grid Legends and some others, but looking forward to a more realistic one now. Starfield I'm also interested in just because I love Elder Scrolls and Fallout but I just can't get as excited for space stuff. Lies Of P also looks pretty great. And if we actually ever see Silksong released, that's already going to be a 10/10 game.
@Neither_scene
Enjoy your diverse games and I will enjoy my big production AAA.
Too little too late. I'm probably going to sell the xbox. Barely use it now.
@Acurisur
He’s behind you 😂😂😂

There's nothing I'm really looking forward to playing next year. Mostly because I've learned the hard way to try and ignore marketing hype, and wait for decent reviews before committing time and money.
Still the best games I've played on Game Pass aren't the big tentpole releases, but the under the radar ones, or older games added to the service. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than overhyped by a moderately good charmless AAA release.
Let's see some concrete release dates first before I get my hopes up.
I mainly want Starfield and Avowed, but would also like to see some State of decay 3 gameplay.
@uptownsoul Ya that’s not really what I meant, non gaming topics that arise is what I was thinking. I can see that wasn’t clear at all. My bad.
@uptownsoul
If true, it's probably simply a byproduct of Push Square having more traffic. Otherwise, I don't see where you come off making such a claim. Did you conduct a peer reviewed study? What was your sample size? I also don't trust your assessment because it seems to me you really enjoy coming into the comments on this site and stirring the pot. Am I wrong here?
I know I’m daft for stock counting, but in the two years since release of series S and X I have never seen so much stock of these console sitting there unsold in the UK even with the recent Series S price drop. It’s a dam disgrace by Microsoft for Xbox.
Also in the USA if they have shortages as so many say on here, then it is a logistical disaster by Microsoft of stock allocation.
Far too many in the UK and not enough in the USA.
Companies have sacked managers etc for far less, they must have so much money or be so mismanaged or just don’t care.
Unbelievable from a management point and business point of few.
@Eslam Are you high? Pentiment is fantastic, has a Mighty rating on OpenCritic. An 86 average score with 89% of critics recommending. If you don't like puzzles and can't read well that's a you problem, not a Pentiment problem.
Just Starfield for me, although that depends on how well it manages to run on my aged GPU.
I might play Silksong someday... on my Switch. Not the sort of game I want to sit down in front of my monitor to play, unfortunately.
Lets be honest, 2023 has to be an improvement!! Since release Playstation has absolutely crushed the competition. Lets see if Xbox can catch up a bit in 2023!!
Several on the list but Starfield isn't one of them (minority, I know)
More excited for more older games from other consoles like Persona coming to Xbox than anything new. Personally hoping Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Complete Edition & SMT 3: Nocturne HD will find their way to Xbox & Game Pass eventually, especially with the Bandai leak from earlier this year saying a Cyber Sleuth 2 was happening, with most of the list having been proven legit, and Digimon Survive being multiplatform.
It would be the remake GoldenEye 007, but much like the DOOM remake it seems to be a big miss not including online multiplayer & co-op. Sad that 2 decades later we either have less or the same amount of ways of playing with friends... modern Halo dropped Split-Screen, DOOM traded online for local, & GoldenEye still can't be played online - why is the remake of Quake the only one that can do online & local everything???
Didn't we hear the same thing last year lol
I’ll believe the hype when I see it, but right now, Starfall, Atomic Heart, and Silksong are my big titles for Gamepass, though I’m honestly sort of nervous about all three of them for some reason. I’m a little leery with Redfall and Stalker, though I’ll try them both. The other titles, I suppose I’ll wait for reviews? I dunno. 2023 still looks like I’ll be more invested in Switch and PS5, but I’d love to be wrong since Gamepass IS cheaper than buying games, of course!
Goldeneye… I’ll be playing on Nintendo Online! Lol.
I'm sorry, but the Xbox line-up just feels like having a PS5 without any exclusives. MS makes me so sad just sitting on IPs for so long, and taking forever between releases. What was it, 5 years for a new Halo game? I know games take longer than ever to make, but good lord.
Looking forward to Motorsport and Redfall.
Will give Starfield a try, but not sure it'll be my thing.
This Christmas is a massive miss for Xbox though... no big game to promote to drive Christmas sales of Xbox over PS. You should always have a big game to bundle in over the Christmas period.
Also... this generation, the marketing for Xbox in the UK has been almost invisible. The marketing department needs to put more money and effort in to bridge the gap to PS.
I'm ok though... I moved back to Xbox after skipping a generation (I tried PS4 instead of Xbox One), so catching up on older games, plus gamepass fodder, plus Halo Infinite has kept me busy.
But... desperately need some new, big, good games to come out.
This generation has GREAT hardware, but the games have either been absent, late or (in some cases... Forza Horizon 5) underwhelming.
Hellblade 2 has finished mocap which is the final stage of development and a year ago the game looked much better and ready than half the games released in 2022, so I'm very very confident it'll launch in 2023, Avowed was already playable as of August 2021 according to Josh sawyer's tweet, so I'm also confident this game will launch in 2023 as well, problem is.. how will Xbox manage all those releases. my guess is Redfall in March, Starfield and forza in May or June, Hellblade 2 in september and Avowed in december
"We've hopefully got an amazing year ahead."
Key word here is "hopefully." I have a feeling that Starfield isn't coming out until Fall.
@awp69 I agree. I am reading on here for 10 minutes and see nothing about Lies of P. This game seems above the rest to me. I don't see any reason for some talking, for example about the next Forza or whatever edition is going to go up on Game Pass. This game is known to everyone here. Why so much expectation? Personally, I tend to be only interested in anything new.
@antstephenson My friend, lots of games are releasing these days. They are so many I can't name them all here. Have you checked on Game Pass too? Try The Chant. It will keep you busy during the Holidays.
@uptownsoul Lol, Let's intrude on Push Square us Xbox Era fans. You just gave me a strange idea to do!
@Dimitris_Sf
Yep, looks of games out there and I am fortunate to be pretty busy with gamepass (as I mentioned in my comment above).
My point was more relating to big exclusive games, which would drive Xbox sales.
Personally, I have found Forza Horizon 5 a bit disappointing.
Halo Infinite is ok.
But, I feel Xbox should be in a position to have a big game every Christmas to drive sales of their hardware... and this year it just ain't there.
