In case you'd forgotten, Xbox Game Pass Core launches this week! This is the new version of Game Pass that's replacing Xbox Live Gold (for the same price), meaning all Gold members will switch to it on Thursday, September 14th.
And now Xbox has revealed the full list of 36 games included with Game Pass Core on day one! All subscribers will get access to these at no extra charge beginning this Thursday. Let's take a look at the list:

- DOOM Eternal Standard Edition
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 4
- Fallout 76

We don't know about you, but we think that's a superb lineup! These games replace the monthly Xbox Games with Gold offerings which officially ended on September 1st, although you can still play GwG titles with your Core membership.
Microsoft also says there are plans to update the Game Pass Core titles 2-3 times per-year, so we'll almost certainly see more added into the mix (along with a few taken away) when that happens. For now though, this is a great start!
What do you think of this list of Xbox Game Pass Core games? Tell us in the comments down below.

That is a decent list - after this fall I may downgrade.
36 decent games instead of just '2' mediocre games (1 every 2 weeks) or 24 a year - none of which you get to keep, although with this, if they 'leave' GPC, you can no longer keep playing, but I'd expect something else to take its place.
Obviously lacking any big 'new' games and I expect that to continue as 'Day 1' releases is a 'big' incentive to upgrade to GP or GPU for and I notice they have PayDay2, Forza and Fallout with PD3, Forza and Starfield releasing for Game Pass+.
I'm more than happy with GPU - particularly as I have invested in PC hardware (RoG Ally & RoG Zephyrus Duo) and it allows me to play on PC or any Cloud device at NO extra cost. Its been 'useful' to stream games to these, as well as my XB1X in the bedroom, let alone download 'native' PC versions so I think it's worth the extra for GPU.
At this point, I do think that GPC is looking 'better' value than Gold but it will depend on how often they rotate games in/out and what games come in/out over the year...
Nothing here for those of us who've been on GP for a while, but thats not who it's targeting 😁
Its a fantastic 'introduction game set' for anyone new to the ecosystem though. Very nice and a good move from marketing..
Nice incentive for those who are just using Core to play online.
Though, I wish the "pay to play online" thing would just go away all together. It's just dumb. PC has been free to play online since...well...people could play online.
I know back in the day it kind of made sense as the console and PC space were separate and it helped pay to keep those servers up and running (Sony's was a mess before it started charging for online). These days though, I don't know if that's necessary anymore.
But, I guess it's so engrained in the console space that I don't see if ever going away.
I do think Cloud Saves should be free across the board. It's great that Microsoft doesn't have Cloud Saves locked behind a paywall.
Wow! That's an incredible list for newcomers. Though personally there's almost nothing I haven't played except Spiritfarer which I previously missed on Game Pass. Will be interesting to see how often and how much this changes over time.
Also a bit strange having Ori 2 & Dishonored 2 instead of the first games. Also Dishonored 2 doesn't have FPS boost, whereas all the other games in the series play at 60fps on XSX
Fantastic and diverse set for newer players, honestly. Nothing for me there, but I’m on GPU for the days 1s.
I don't see a point of this to be honest but I suppose if you just want the basics it's ok
@Dan1283 for people who buy a lot of games, just really need online and don't want to pay more per month than they need to.
me: I buy many games physically. I don't need 100 games to play per month but I need online. This gives me a few great games to play that i haven't yet and cuts out the fluff.
I personally like it.
@somnambulance Same as that. Anything I'm interested in there I've mostly played already. But it's a good mix of games for sure.
I'm also on Ultimate so not really an issue.
If they EVER take away ANY first party games that is a major fail.
That list is much better than I would expect. Really full of bangers. It will be interesting to follow how will they update it and how long games will stay.
@Cashews fair enough i suppose its what suits each person best 👌 but online should be free in my opinion
The nice thing about this, if the Core library doesn't go down, only increase, it just confirmed several games that MIGHT leave Game Pass just got made permanent.
Means for quite a few people who bought only the Dimensional Shellshock DLC for Shredder's Revenge just saved money, for example.
I like it. I downgraded because of money reasons. I'm really happy with this list of games I can still play.
The only thing it's really missing is a sports game. It would be nice to see EA throw in a sports game like FIFA to get people interested in their service too since it's included in XGPU.
Plus EA makes money on the people who like paying to play draft games.
Decent list, I'll get to see what all the fuss is about with Dead Cells and get to play TMNT on console, again.
Edit: missed a few. Spirit Farer is one people raved about, so I'll absolutely give that one a try.
@blockfight The only oddball to me is that Ori 2 is on there instead of Ori 1.
Where is SEA OF THIEVES?? It is an online only 1st party game that has sooo many season passes and microtransactions. It was a mistake not including it imo
@GamingFan4Lyf i agree the cloud saves on Xbox being free is really nice and something i don’t like about PS. But YES, please get rid of the online pay wall, it’s just dumb and PC has free online. It would cut into profits on Xbox sure, but it would leave PS on an island. Could get more gamers to come over. Plus PS just upped the price on its tiers. Now seems to be the best time but they came out with GP core, this is a solid list of games for new Xbox users tho. Well stated!
A nice list really, seems worth it for the previous gold only subscribers
Great to see Dead Cells and Slay the Spire in the list. Looking forward to installing them tomorrow.
@Skedaddle I thought of that.
I personally would pick Hockey or Baseball, but if there can only be one sport, it would have to be the world's most popular sport, which is soccer... for some reason lol.
@Skedaddle Don't they sell SoT for practically nothing on the regular? I bought it on the pc at release so it doesn't matter for me - but I see sales on it constantly. The game is one of the best values in all of gaming there isn't a reason to not just plunk down the money imho.
Eiyuden Chronicles 100 Heroes is coming to gamepass April 23rd 2024.
