It's a real shame that so many games are launching in an unplayable state, but even so, this is a pretty awesome freebie from Microsoft and 343. It's been a while since I last played Halo 3: ODST, but I remember it being the most interesting and atmospheric game in the series; kind of like a film noir set in the Halo universe.
Black Flag was the first Assassin's Creed I really enjoyed, and I was hoping that this one would be more of the same... It's a shame that it hasn't delivered.
I was expecting some exciting changes when 2K took over the WWE license from THQ; a revamped engine and some more realistic character models would have been very welcome, so this is a little disappointing.
I suppose they didn't really have much time to do anything drastic, so hopefully next year's release will be a little more radical in its approach.
This weekend is a Mario 3D World weekend, with a bit of A Link Between Worlds. Once those Twp games are polished off, I'm finally playing some Skyward Sword (two years too late) and Assassin's Creed 2. I'm not a big AC fan, but I feel like I should play all of the previous generation's big games before the floodgates open on Xbox One.
This is probably the most interesting launch-day release on either of the two next-gen consoles. Single-handedly Justifies the purchase of an Xbox One.
Hopefully the loss of Rocksteady doesn't affect the quality of this franchise.
Seeing as this is an earlier Batman, I'd like to see WB Montreal go the Batman: Year One route and really delve into the origin story. You can't go wrong with Frank Miller's writing as your foundation.
I don't think a game's value should be based on its length. Journey was very shot, but I'm sure people would be willing to pay a lot more than the going rate to experience that game.
After The Walking Dead, I'm willing to try anything Telltale releases. Although, I doubt this will even come close to garnering the critical acclaim and mainstream success that The Walking Dead achieved.
I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Tomb Raider will be number one next week; Lara Croft is such a video game icon and the reviews appear to be unanimously positive. Way too much buzz for it to be anything less than number one.
A next-gen release that ties in with the film release would mean extra exposure for the franchise as a whole and the game would receive more TLC as a result of the extra development time.
However, the games industry moves so quickly that 1313 could very well be outdated by the time the release rolls around.
I had never touched an Assassin's Creed game until recently. Just finished the first game and found it some of the most repetitive gameplay I have ever experienced.
I know the second Assassin's Creed is supposedly a lot better, but I'm struggling to build up any enthusiasm to play it.
I enjoyed Crysis 3 so much that I'm now working my way through Crysis 2.
Considering the bow was a point of contention for many people, its omission from Crysis 2 is rather glaring after spending so much time using it throughout Crysis 3.
@davahsa I think a worthy solution would be to lose your 'rights' to a particular game in exchange for a percentage of the game's value in credit on the Xbox Live Marketplace, although I just don't see this happening. It would be like Apple offering you an exchange on iTunes purchases.
Digital is what it is... You gain convenience and an experience that is immediately accessible in exchange for of the privileges that physical media offers.
I understand the Aliens: Colonial Marines is a new release and based on a popular film franchise, so will usually sell reasonably well, but it still disappoints me that lacklustre games like this can top the charts, while quality titles like Hitman: Absolution struggle for sales from day one.

Great review, Ken.

Re: A Release Date for Fable Anniversary is Here
Not even the free copy of Fable 3 that Microsoft gave out managed to lure me in, so unfortunately I doubt this will have much success either.
Re: Out This Week: December 17th (North America)
Cannot wait to sink my teeth into the new Walking Dead episode. Think I'll save it for my time off over Christmas.

Re: Tomb Raider Heads to Xbox One
Bit of a cash-in considering the DLC was all focussed and the mediocre multiplayer rather than the stellar campaign. However, I do love this game.

Re: Talking Point: The Cost of Play - Are Games Too Short?
I don't think a game's value should be based on its length. Journey was very shot, but I'm sure people would be willing to pay a lot more than the going rate to experience that game.
Re: Adam Orth Leaves Microsoft
How he addressed the situation was incredibly immature, but it's sad to see anyone lose their job over something so small.
Hopefully this was his own decision and he wasn't forced out.
Re: $99 Xbox 360 In The Works
At $99, this would be a no-brainer for anyone just wanting an Apple TV style device that also plays games. I'd even buy one to stick in another room.

Re: Xbox Live Spring Sale Details Revealed
Some incredible deals to be had here. I was already looking into Hitman: Absolution, at this price it's a no-brainer.
Re: Square Enix Publisher Sale Kicks Off
Think I may have to pick up Sleeping Dogs. £8.99? Absolute bargain.

Re: Resident Evil Prices Cut For Day Three
The perfect opportunity to revisit Resident Evil 4, but I'm holding out for some Metal Gear Solid reductions next.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Xbox 360)
Good to see that, after a rocky start, Konami managed to turn this around and make it into a very good game.
Will definitely be picking this up.

Re: Next Xbox Codename Uncovered
I can definitely see Microsoft opting for just 'Xbox' with their next release. I like it. A simple brand that casual consumers can recognise.
Re: Microsoft Apologises for Cloud Save Issues
I wasn't even aware of the problem until Microsoft dropped me a message with a month of free Xbox Live Gold. Not complaining.
