It's usually the case that December is a quiet time for new video game releases, but we've still got a few notable ones lined up for the first couple of weeks on Xbox, including two very interesting remasters on December 3rd.
We already knew about the first of these - Rayman Legends Retold is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on that date. It seems a little bit redundant to "reimagine" an Xbox One game like Rayman Legends on the face of it, but the previews have been pretty great for the most part, and there's no doubt that Legends is a great game in general.
The next one has just been announced for December 3rd today though, and it's Thief: The Dark Project Remastered. The original Thief has never appeared on Xbox before, having first released on PC back in 1998, but it was considered one of the best games of that year across any platform, and has a whopping 92 average rating on Metacritic.
Its remaster is being handled by the experts at Nightdive Studios, known for an absolute ton of great remasters in recent years, so as long as you don't mind the dated nature of it, this could end up being a must-buy on the 3rd.
Exciting stuff! We'll leave you with more details on both games down below.
Rayman Legends Retold

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered (Date Just Announced!)
In Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, Nightdive Studios brings back the pioneering 3D stealth game from Looking Glass Studios. Described by its developers as a “first-person sneaker,” the 1998 title challenged norms with its non-confrontational gameplay at a time when most first-person games prioritized combat. Thief was the first stealth game to use light and sound as game mechanics to help you hide from and sneak up on characters, rather than simply attacking them. Remastered with Nightdive’s KEX Engine, the release includes Thief: The Dark Project and the additional missions, content and updates from the 1999 Thief Gold re-release.
