The new Final Fantasy looked sick… until they mentioned summoning characters from old games. Now I have a sinking feeling it’s another F2P gacha title.
Final Fantasy has the Rayman video.
I don't think there's anything for me so far.
@Lup Yeah, it's switched now. Placeholder that was left in by accident!
DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 EXPANSION, IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!!
Well this is my E3 moment of the year easily, I'd seen a few vague rumors here and there but what a huge surprise. Dark Arisen was fantastic, having a Dark Arisen 2 for my 2024 GOTY, absolutely pumped to go back. Purexbox's 10/10 review by @PJOReilly was spot on.
@RadioHedgeFund exactly the same here. I felt the excitement drain out of me so damn fast.
@RadioHedgeFund Dont do this to me. Thats my most hyped game from the show. I just want a traditional game in the HD-2D sprite form.
Very average Direct for me - mostly games that are available/better elsewhere - but rescued by a few things I am really into like Xenoblade Genesis, Ocarina remake, Xenoblade 1-3 upgrades, Muramasa, Star Fox, Tales of Eternia etc. And a few I need to know more about like Final Fantasy Resonance.
@abe_hikura @RadioHedgeFund Felt the same. Very excited until they said that. it could also be a Dissidia like situation. Definitely killed some of my initial hype. Need to know more.
So I guess this means Stellar Blade missed Xbox?
@anoyonmus It's only been announced for Switch 2 right now, but that could change in the future. We've seen the same thing happen with Final Fantasy before.
@J_Mo_Money I hope it’s a premium experience self-contained single player
@FraserG Did you confirm if Atelier is coming to Xbox? I can't find proof of it anywhere else yet
I feel the direct was rather solid, not as powerful as the Xbox show but big hits for me:
@RadioHedgeFund ign has an exclusive 10 minute game play. it sounds like a story driven single player, so im back on board again.
@Questionable_Duck Yeah, it's official. There's even an Xbox Store page for it:
https://www.xbox.com/en-gb/games/store/atelier-karia-the-night-kingdom-the-guide-of-memories/9N6HNLVW5RJV/0010
@J_Mo_Money @themightyant @abe_hikura GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! https://www.ign.com/articles/final-fantasy-resonance-we-played-the-first-turn-based-hd-2d-ff-game-ign-exclusive-preview
Great show! Xbox getting another Atelier game was a nice surprise!
@FraserG Oh, that's great news!
@MinervaX76 Nah KH4 will be coming in 2030.
Trust me (im joking btw)
i really wish they showed more of OoT. I'm sure ill get it but they showed almost nothing.
nintendo direct blew everyone away a rpg direct dream..
You can definitely tell the major Japanese studios save their best for the Nintendo Directs. Kinda bummed we don’t get Vanilla Ware’s new game but otherwise, a good Japanese showing for the Xbox crowd.
when you sell tens of million of consoles everyone wants to be on your platform nintendo is killing it now.
@MinervaX76 FFR and KH4 confirmed Play Anywhere. Looks like SE are all in with the Play Anywhere stuff!
@RadioHedgeFund @abe_hikura @RadioHedgeFund But it's still an adaptation of mobile F2P game Brave Exvius which was developed by Alim.
I get that it's a completely new version if it, not just a port, but that's not as exciting as I thought initially - I thought it was a brand new HD-2D FF from Square Enix. Not sold on it yet, but hope i'm wrong.
@FraserG Kingdom Hearts IV and Kingdom Hearts collection (I, II, III) and final fantasy resonance are Xbox play anywhere:
Atelier does interest me! Hell yeah.
Nintendo's Direct was filled with old third-party games launching on Nintendo, but Kingdom Hearts IV and Final Fantasy Resonance were remarkable announcements besides the Ocarina of Time remake and new Xenoblade Chronicles. It seems that from now on, Final Fantasy games will be real-time RPGs and they made a new series for turn-based RPGs. Nothing wrong with that. My only complaint is where is FF IX remake? Like others here, I love that Square Enix if fully supporting Play Anywhere, who would have thought, huh?
EDIT:
I played the Kingdom Hearts collections on PS4, but I probably will get them on Xbox now that there is a complete bundle.
@Banjo- What makes you say that? It's just one game. And FF Resonance is a reimagining of a mobile F2P game, not entirely new.
I'm honestly surprised, in a good way, that the Atelier series is still getting Xbox ports. I was worried after Atelier Yumia apparently performed very poorly on Xbox.
Tales of Eternia also getting announced is great. Lot of Japanese games coming!
@Elbow Too many (not complaining). 🤣
Great Nintendo Direct, some more RPGs and JRPG's to add to the wishlist.
@themightyant same. It's cool that it's "new" but it's not the same as a cool "new original 2d-hd FF game".
@abe_hikura I thought it was a new original game. It looks great, though. I love the Octopath Traveller trilogy.
@Banjo- @abe_hikura I'd love nothing more than for them to knock it out the park and this to be utterly fantastic. But building on the shaky foundations of a F2P mobile game doesn't inspire confidence. Please prove me wrong Square-Enix.
@themightyant it appears to be inspired by the characters ect of Brave Exvius but otherwise this gives me solace ...
"This is not a port or even a remake of Brave Exvius, rather it serves as the narrative foundation with a whole new combat system and overworld. Its story has been tuned for a traditional RPG that's informed by Brave Exvius' first season with everything else built from the ground up."
Oh I am going to be all over that Final Fantasy game and Zelda OOT remake! Wallet buckle up more for some collectors editions!
@J_Mo_Money So we could say it's a brand new game, after all.
@Banjo- in theory, yes. I'm a final fantasy legacy dude from the original in 1990 so im all over this!
I don't mind paying again for Kingdom Heart Collection on Xbox after playing them on PS4, but there's one thing that scares me...
The tiresome grind to unlock all the cutscenes and endings, that I love in these games.
@RadioHedgeFund It's a retelling of the mobile game Brave Exvius, but beyond that is a full premium game. Simillar to what they did to Octopath Traveler: CotC with Octopath Traveler 0
@J_Mo_Money I read that, it was the "Its story has been tuned for a traditional RPG that's informed by Brave Exvius' first season with everything else built from the ground up" that didn't inspire me with confidence. But fingers firmly crossed, like I said at the top i'd LOVE nothing more than for this to be great, i'm just dubious.
Earth defense force 5 & 6 also skipping Xbox? Stellar Blade, Muramasa, Touhou. So we get a total of 5 games skipping Xbox. Well at least we got some other games
@rhyno_888 They may be announced later. Stellar Blade is almost guaranteed because the sequel is coming and the first one was just announced for Nintendo.
There is a brillant comment on the kingdom hearts 4 trailer ,, see you guys in in 3 more years for the next trailer
@Martsmall It looked like III graphically so maybe not? 😂
What's the difference between these new Kingdom Hearts collections and the old ones?
@rhyno_888 I didn’t hear anything about EDF 5-6. And aren’t those older games anyway?
@Banjo- I am wondering if Stellar Blade will be coming, if Sony still has publishing rights. They've licensed older games to Bandai Namco with apparent stipulations that the games Namco ports can go to anything... but Xbox. Examples: Everybody's Golf Hot Shots, Patapon 1+2 Replay, Freedom Wars Remastered. On everything but Xbox, when Bandai has a pretty good relationship with Xbox otherwise.
@Elbow You have a point as Sony has signed Xbox-exclusion deals before. Publishing rights expire, but perhaps they haven't expired yet and thus there is just a Switch 2 version, for now.
@Banjo- Thankfully games like Earth defense force, TouHou, and Muramasa I have NO interest in and are such niche titles i can see why those are skipping. I still have hope for Stellar blade and thankfully Square Enix (who is my most import JRPG studio) has 100% shown now every game is multiplat as KH, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest ect are all day one.
We've come a long way from 10 years ago all those plus Yakuza, Tales series ect ALWAYS skipping xbox.
But where are the exclusives????
@J_Mo_Money Yes, that's right. I'm very happy with all the third-party support this generation. It has been great. I'm sure Stellar Blade 1 will come to Xbox because the studio is bringing the sequel. It's just a matter of time.
Indeed. Who would have thought that Series X would have more Final Fantasy than PS5, including backwards compatible titles in 4K, after Final Fantasy VII being a PS-console exclusive for 6 years?
@Banjo- For the Namco games, I doubt that will ever change unless Sony received massive PR backlash. For Stellar Blade, hard to say. I hope it changes, but their wording doesn't make me too confident.
Yeesh. Sad that the most interesting thing for me in the entire show was the Star Fox remake and Stellar Blade being ported (where's the Xbox version, dammit?!)
Sadly Switch 2 is already looking to be a repeat of the first Switch. 90% of it's library is going to end up being ports of games released on other platforms 5-10 years ago. Just a generation of Nintendo playing catch-up with the competition...
Everything else just... I have no interest. Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem. It's all just kind of... whatever.
Final Fantasy Resonance reminds me a lot of Octopath Traveler
Tales of Eternia won’t have a physical edition on Xbox, just like Xillia. Really disappointed… This is probably the thing I dislike the most about XBOX…
@RadioHedgeFund it’s not. It’s based on one, but it’s completely redone and zero gatcha. $50, pay once, similar to Octopath 0
@Elbow What did Shift Up say regarding Stellar Blade?
@Banjo- They said the sequel will launch multiplatform at launch day. Doesn't necessarily mean it will come to Xbox.
I think it probably will come to Xbox but next year.
If we go by pattern for Stellar Blade:
Original release 2024: PS5
First port 2025: PC
Second port 2026: Switch 2
Third port 2027: MAYBE Xbox
@Elbow Additionally to add it is likely Shift Up prioritized a Switch 2 version first before an Xbox version.
Reason being is that likely have gotten the Switch 2 dev kit WAY before an Xbox dev kit and not only that but Shift Up famously gave their employees a Switch 2 last year after celebrating Stellar Blade's success.
@Banjo- Exactly. I've had no remorse for not getting a PS5 this gen (I've owned all ps hardware prior to 2020) and aside from that Zelda OoT remake i dont care for a switch either. Xbox has so many games now that couples with the Rog Xbox Ally is all i need these days.
@Kingleo31 it was announced in Nintendo direct japan, it's ported to switch2 but no Xbox. Edf series are good match for Xbox audiences but D3 Publisher sadly never heard of Xbox existence
