In case you'd hadn't clocked on, today is April Fools' Day, and we've been spotting plenty of April Fools' Jokes on social media over the past few hours as a result, including a few that have been getting quite a bit of attention.
In particular, the folks behind Zenless Zone Zero (or "ZZZ" as it's often called) teased that the game might be getting a release date for Xbox, and there are some who believe it might be hinting at an actual announcement. If you're not aware, ZZZ is a popular free-to-play action RPG that's been on PlayStation, PC and mobile for a couple of years.
You know else I found heartbreaking? Xbox fan Klobrille posting on social media that Brutal Legend: Remastered would be coming to Xbox Game Pass this fall. I believed it for a second, and then realised what day it was!
Here's a look at the creative poster that Klobrille put together for this:
How about Insider Gaming as well? They posted this morning that GTA 6 would be getting a special "throwback edition" for Xbox 360, and you know what? I'd be all for it! It'd probably run at 10 frames per-second, but still...
As you can see, their post has proved pretty popular on social media today:
Finally, we're going to give a shoutout to our sister site Nintendo Life, which put a ton of effort into an April Fools' Joke about something called "PLAYi" - a machine that's designed to play your games for you!
There's both a website article and a video for this one, and it's pretty funny stuff:
So, yeah... be careful today. Websites and social media accounts will be trying to sneak these April Fools' Jokes all over the place, so don't be surprised if you read something about Xbox acquiring Nintendo before the day's out!

Whilst I disagree with Jez on a lot of things and whilst I don't see much weight behind half of his ramblings, I do too feel like this is something that is likely on the cards.
As a gamer I really hate April Fools Day... So many good things that they actually should make and they end up being jokes. The sad thing is they know they're good or they wouldn't be joking about them. They just aren't willing to commit.
I can't help but start salivating at the idea of a Brutal Legend remaster with some new content.
I love April Fool's Day so much. There's just such ambient energy in the air for enjoyment. It's a day where there's just collective agreement to be silly and run wild with it all and it's harmless in that we all collectively know what day it is. Like hey, maybe we get another Yakuza 7 turn based situation, but that's just a happy bonus. This year especially it's felt needed. There's so much tension and hardship right now and it feels like things are squeezing tighter from every angle (from social media to the economy and inflation to tense politics). I've already great enjoyed April Fool's Day so far and I always love seeing what gamers and gaming companies and game content creators come up with. The entertainment idea behind April Fool's compliments the industry so well. Stuff like Pocket pair making a steam page and trailer for their Palworld furry dating sim just brings a smile. I hope everyone else has fun with it (and if you don't it's just a day) 😊😆!
