Whether you're a fan of games like this or not, Drug Dealer Simulator is evidently getting a fair bit of interest prior to its Xbox arrival - and it's also been wrapped up in controversy over the past week on the Steam platform.
We talked about this exactly seven days ago - it was the story about Schedule 1 being "investigated" ahead of Drug Dealer Simulator's Xbox release. Since then, Drug Dealer Simulator has continued to suffer "overwhelmingly negative" reviews on Steam, and the publisher actually issued a statement to try and cool the controversy.
Here's a bit of what that statement had to say, along with our original story about it below:
The analysis and investigation were necessary in the light of repeating opinions that the games are very similar. By not investigating it, Movie Games, being a publicly traded company, could face severe consequences for negligence.
There is no ill will towards TVGS. We even mailed them best wishes shortly before the release, when the game was already huge, but before the investigation was deemed necessary. However, we are obligated to perform this investigation, act accordingly to the scope of the infringement if it is confirmed, and inform the public about it via ESPI.
Anyway, let's talk about this week's launch! Drug Dealer Simulator has an official Xbox release date of April 16th, 2025. On that day, it'll be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and you can actually see a comparison of how each of those versions will look in the trailer at the top of this article.
The game has proved popular on PC over the years, and it's since received a sequel that hasn't yet been announced for Xbox. In Drug Dealer Simulator, it's your job to build a crime empire "without the legal and moral consequences", and the Xbox version specifically includes all six content updates along with an apparent "visual overhaul".
We'll throw more screenshots down below, and the game will go live on the Xbox Store this Wednesday.
Have you ever considered creating your own crime empire, without the legal and moral consequences? SIMULATE IT! Crawl into the dark alleys of the street business in this OG drug-dealing game, and make a fortune!

At least you can't get high off your own supply in a video game that's where I went wrong haha
When you're young you make mistakes 🤷
"There is no ill will towards TVGS"
Sure...
Movie Games are just pis*ed that a game within a similar genre, from a smaller developer, got the jump on them. Their "case" is nonsense. As I said before it's the equivalent of Rockstar going after any developer that releases a crime sim before GTA 6 drops.
No one likes a bully. I sincerely hope DDS flops big time.
Not my cup of tea personally but if it manages to find an audience, good luck to 'em.
Not sure this title sends messages we want to associate with games playing, but if it's your kinda thing, have fun. I think it's clear it's not my thing 😂
I want a simulator where i can drive my ice-cream van haha .
@Titntin
Well, we happily took money from prostitutes before beating them to death to get our money back (GTA), mowed down innocent civilians in a shopping mall (Syndicate) and went gun-ho in an airport (Modern Warfare 2) so why are we now suddenly disturbed about video games that see us
play the role of drug dealer?
I think we're way beyond through the looking glass at this point with gaming.
As someone who lives in the inner city it sometimes feels like living in a GTA game so i don’t need to play a drug dealing sim to further exasperate that lol
Why would a normal person buy and play Drug Dealer Simulator? I don't think big digital platforms should allow such games to be released.
@chesheer You could say word for word what you just said replacing the game name with anything from Mafia to Grand Theft Auto to Resident Evil to Mortal Kombat, and it would sound just as ridiculous. Games are games.
Play the ones you want, let others play the ones they want. Don't dictate what should and shouldn't be allowed for everyone else just because you don't like something.
@chesheer Over 10 million copies of Schedule 1 was sold in a week (the better version of Drug Deal Sim) But yes, let's praise games like Hatred, Postal, any GTA game, Manhunt, any school shooter sim, or any Leisure Suit Larry game. But selling drugs is a problem in a goofy arcade sim. Rightttt. You want us to sell drugs, shoot up schools, rob and murder people in real life then right? Cause that's better and much safer entertainment.
@Meisfi Well then, following your logic we should condone rape sims, like the one that thankfully got banned recently on Steam. No real women got hurt, right?
There's a huge difference between games like GTA (which I personally dislike either) and Schedule 1. And the difference is context.
@chesheer it's a video game. Play it or don't. If there's a Netflix show with controversial terms and words or political views, no one is telling you to watch it. It's not that serious. Old head. People like you try to ruin games so hard over little ass things. I bet you thought GTA influences all kids to wrong.
