Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 has been announced today after weeks of rumours, arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S this July (along with other platforms), and unsurprisingly it's getting an early access offer too.
This has become typical for Xbox first-party releases at this point, with the Deluxe and Collector's Editions both providing access on July 8th rather than July 11th, while also offering some very cool bonus content including DOOM Slayer and Revenant skins complete with a couple of unique tricks each.
"Play as both the Doom Slayer (with two outfits, two unique tricks, and a hoverboard) or a Revenant (with its own two unique tricks), not to mention themed skate decks, Create-a-Skater items and bonus soundtracks."
You're looking at £59.99 / $69.99 to pick up the Deluxe Edition on the Xbox Store, but there's good news if you intend on playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in the form of a 'Digital Deluxe Upgrade Edition'. This provides you with all the Deluxe content - including early access — for just £18.00 / $18.00.

Of course, this version assumes that you're going to be playing THPS 3+4 via Xbox Game Pass permanently, as it doesn't actually include the base game itself, so that's something to keep in mind before hitting the 'buy' button.
There's no rush to make a decision right now anyway, as we've still got a few months to go until Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 lands this July. If it's anything like THPS 1+2, we'll probably be tempted by the Deluxe Upgrade here!

I’m not usually one to pay for these things… but if the bonus soundtracks and decks are cool, I might bite. Playing as Doom Slayer would be funny, too. Maybe I’ll start the Microsoft rewards back up so I don’t have to pay with real cash.
This used to be an unlockable in the OG THPS3. The nickel and diming is way worse than what Activision themselves were doing with THPS 1+2.
No thanks I’ll play Day 4 on Game Pass
Nearly doubles the price of the month's subscription for 5 days early. Easy pass for me. I hate the early access gimmick they try to sell and how they still claim gamepass is getting it "day 1."
The early access period for the almost 5 year old port of forza horizon 5 to ps5 is laughably stupid.
@BacklogBrad MS and early access is quickly becoming the scummiest thing in gaming imo. They are just throwing the tag on everything at this point for the fomo payout.
@Ilyn basically asking us to pay extra for the worst state the game will ever be in. Those players are essentially paying to identify the bugs that may or may not get fixed in time for the people getting lied to about having "day 1" access.
@Ilyn Almost every publisher is doing this stupid pay for early access thing. It’s far from just Microsoft. At least it’s easy to just ignore it.
No way in hell, that I'm gonna pay extra to beta test, before the day 1 patch.
To the people paying for this, YOU are part of the problem, for supporting this crap.
I don't see how this affects the people that don't decide to pay?
@Lup you play it after everyone who pays the additional money. It's not that hard to see.
It's not the absolute worst thing in the world. But it's still scummy. Gamepass subscribers get the game 'day 4' rather than Phil Spencers 'day 1' promise.
I wrote quite a lot on this perk when starfield opened the floodgates, and now multiple games are doing it. It can and probably will get worse in the future.
Seeing the Doomslayer and a Revenant skate around a track, doing tricks, is the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. Can't wait! 😬
@Lup It doesn't, just as it won't affect PS5 and Switch owners who also get it Day One on July 11th.
This game is also 'Play Anywhere' on Xbox and windows devices.
I say this every time, but I will never play extra to get "Early Access" to a finished game. The game is finished, it's ready to play. Publishers cash in on the hype by delaying their games a week to get more money out of people.
Don't pre-order. Don't pay for early access. Wait for release, and wait for reviews. See how the game lives up to the hype before you give them your money.
In these days of digital games you can do this all on the day of release with no downside. Get up in the morning, see the reviews and first impressions over breakfast. If you like what you see then you can decide to buy it, and you'll be playing it in a couple hours. If it turns out to be a real mess, or the servers are in shambles then hold onto your money.
@Lup It wont affect a single person. People take issue with the "day one" thing, and assume that Xbox invented the whole "early access" incentive - which they didn't.
Day one to me equates to global launch date. Early access to me, equates to paying a premium to get hands on early. It really isn't that hard to understand - but alas, many don't get it lol.
