Well, we didn't expect to see this announcement so soon! Just six months on from the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have announced Space Marine 3 - "an even more immersive experience" coming in the future.
Of course, all that's really been said right now is that the Space Marine 2 sequel is currently in development - there's no real way that the team can give us an accurate release window at this stage. What they can talk about are some of their high-level plans for Space Marine 3:
"Today, we are thrilled to announce that the adventure will continue with Space Marine 3. Players can look forward to an immersive campaign, a multiplayer mode, and innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games. Developed in close collaboration with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will take the genre to new heights by introducing large-scale battles that are even more spectacular,"
The announcement of this new Warhammer 40K title comes off the back of a very successful launch for Space Marine 2. Developer Saber Interactive describes SM2 as "a transformative game for Saber", and a title that "is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business".
As we previously mentioned, there's no sort of release timeframe attached to this one just yet - or even target platforms for that matter. However, given that Space Marine 2 crash-landed on Xbox Series X|S on day one last year, we're expecting the sequel to hit Xbox platforms when it does arrive in the future.
Hyped for more hordes, Space Marines? Talk to us about this surprise announcement down below.

Boltgun 2 please. That game was a masterpiece.
I'm happy for this studio and the devs for sure, and I'm cautiously optimistic for the third entry. The second game has a lot of positives for sure, but also has a lot of core issues that likely won't be addressed, so here's hoping the third game outpaces it in every way.
Great news, was to be expected. Space Marine was easily my game of the year last year, nothing else comes particularly close.
I just got Space Marine 2 this week in the sale. Finished the campaign & I am glad I didn't pay full price. The campaign is ok I guess though the story is predictable & cliche. This then leaves you with operations or pvp.
Operations are essentially just 8 missions which you are supposed to grind on various classes just so you can keep grinding the same content on harder difficulties (which is basically more bullet sponge.) Can't speak for pvp didn't try it.
Game already uninstalled and as I said glad I didn't pay full price. After that If I even look at Space Marine 3 I will for certain wait for a sale with a deeper discount.
Please add space marine 1 to backward compatible
I still have to play space marine 2 but I definitely will at some point so this is good a new one is baking away in the oven right now!
It was a classic 360/PS3 Era game that people really want more of these days, instead of more 100 hour open world games that all feel identical. Hope that after 3 does well they redo the first ground up so it's playable on modern hardware with the other 2.
Hasbro is also working with Saber Interactive on something, and considering their in-house game engine specializes in vehicle physics, that screams Transformers or G.I. Joe.
@abirazor Yeah that would be nice but it doesn't seem like they care about that anymore, they would rather focus on things like streaming and AI.
Oh **** yeah, glad the wait will be a lot shorter than the last one where I never thought we'd ever even see a sequel.
I’m still waiting for a deeper sale to try Space Marine 2 especially since a lot of the complaints were that it was light on content
Awesome news for the Emperor
@JayJ a remaster from developers would be perfect
