Last week, we talked about a game called Sledders that was getting lots of attention ahead of its Xbox launch on March 20th, and we thought you'd be interested to know that the launch has gone very well indeed so far!
Looking at the "Top Paid" Xbox chart in the US, Sledders sits in 14th position right now above the likes of Minecraft, EA Sports FC 25, PGA Tour 2K25, Mortal Kombat 1 and a whole lot more.
This was never a game that the mainstream critics were going to pay much attention to, but if you look at the reviews for Sledders on the Xbox Store, it currently has a 4.4/5 rating based on 128 reviews - 78% of which are five stars.

We'll throw a few of the five-star Xbox reviews for Sledders that we've spotted down below:
ItsDeeep: I have always wanted a snowmobile game, but anything I have tried has always been bad. Sledders is different, the snow physics are realistic and forces you to drive your sled properly which means there's a learning curve when it comes to this game, that's a good thing. The maps are nice, featuring a wide variety of terrain from woods to valleys, mountains and open, tree-less spaces. This game has a lot of room for improvement as well meaning we can certainly see updates in the future.
sprucepigeon: Great game! I love that I can change snowmobiles anytime and don't have to go back to the garage. I would recommend turning on auto counter steer at first. It is tricky to get the hang of steering and handling at first. Map sizes are big. Lot of space to explore.
Tokentim4207315: I am 18 hours in on this game, I play a lot of sims and this one is 100% hands down the best sim I have played! Thanks developers.
There's obviously a lot of positivity surrounding Shredders on Xbox right now, but it's not all good news - some have pointed out that the controls and physics in the game can be difficult, and that it's lacking a lot of content as things stand. We noticed that Xbox Tavern ended up giving it a fairly average 6.4/10 in their review just a few days ago.
Here are a couple of more negative impressions of Sledders on the Xbox Store for balance:
AK Valkyrin: It's like Mudrunners, hence the physics based controls. As someone who actually spent years riding snowmachines (what we called them) the physics are very over dramatic, couldn't go for very long before the sled tipped over even if I was on level snow going straight, never had that happen in real life. Also counter steering in powder isn't always necessary but the game makes you have to use it all the time. Just be careful if you want this game, I wanted something physics based but also arcade like, this is not that.
BeerBellyBaron: This "game" feels more like a tech demo. It's entirely freeroam; no objectives or progression. That might be ok, but like someone else said the physics feel off and it's very frustrating even to just get moving at times. It's not terrible but it's not very fun either. $35 just feels like way too much for what you're getting here. Refunded. Might pick it back up later if it's on sale for at least 50% off.
Looking over at Steam, Sledders has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" average at the moment based on over 3,000 player ratings, although that also includes the early access release that was available on PC from December of 2023.
It seems Sledders is the kind of game that some players will absolutely love, while others will be turned off by the difficult controls and apparent lack of content. So far though, it seems to be going down well with the majority on Xbox.
Did you buy Sledders? Anything to tell us about it? Let us know down in the comments below.

Sounds like that reviewers comment of turning on "auto counter steer" may be quite important to the general user playing this. Just picked up the game myself and that'll be the first options setting I change.
Not my cup of tea but glad it's reviewing well on the store. Anyone check out the store reviews for that new GP game (the Greek inspired one)? Clearly a dev left an outstanding review and got piled on lol.
@Kaloudz I never really use any store reviews as 90% of the time it’s just nonsense.
I normally just give them a quick glance to check that there isn’t a common theme that points to performance issues.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Same here. Most of them just talk about people's nan for some reason 😅 but that one caught my eye due to the severely low ratings.
What’s put me off trying it, it seems the game is free roam and multiplayer only. As far as I can tell there’s no races, championships etc. I don’t really do MP, and free roam could get boring quite quickly.
Didn't expect them to use my thoughts on the game lol.
The lack of objectives and progression locked this one out for me.
