Fable could apparently be joined by Gears of War: E-Day next year according to the well-known Xbox leaker 'exTas1s'.
In a new update, the insider claims E-Day is currently targeting a 2026 release window for Xbox platforms, but also notes how it could be shifted across to this year if it's done in time.
Additionally, the same source claims the rumoured Gears collection (featuring older entries) could finally be getting a reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase this year, followed by a potential release later in 2025.
Once again, it's also believed this particular collection will be launching on PlayStation 5 alongside Xbox and PC.
Here's a rough translation (from Spanish) of what exTas1s had to say on YouTube:
"What [my sources] tell me is that Gears of War: E-Day is increasingly far from even having the possibility of being released in 2025... "
"It seems every cloud has a silver lining because according to the reports and according to what I am receiving, in 2025 we will indeed have Gears... it has always been very difficult for me to confirm this, but it seems that we do have a Gears Collection [on the way]."
"If everything continues according to plan at least, the plan as of today (which means things can go wrong) is that the collection will be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase this year, and that in principle it is planned to be launched in this same year."
This latest rumour on the next Gears and rumoured collection follows an update in January when it was reported 'People Can Fly' would be helping out as a co-developer on Gears of War: E-Day. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer also recently made a trip to The Coalition to see how everything was going.
When do you think we might see the new Gears game? Do you think this rumoured collection will happen? Let us know in the comments.

Makes sense to have the new Gears and Fable as launch titles for the new Xbox. The collection can release later this year cross platform and build hype for the new game.
so we have a "insider" fight
One is claiming that Fable was delayed to create a space for Gears of War E-Day and other Xbox releases
Other is claiming that there is no GoW E-Day for 2025 but we will have Gears collection this year.
We shall see in June.
@Nexozi Yeah, if the rumors are accurate, it sort of feels like Xbox is taking this generation as a loss and moving ahead from it. Certainly feels like they’re moving things around to bolster next year’s launch if that’s true. I suppose we’ll see Xbox’s vision soon enough if the rumors are accurate.
Gears of War: E-Day, State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark and Blade did not include a 'Series' logo when they were shown at last years Xbox Summer Showcase, and the rumour was that it was because they were to be launch titles for the Prime. There are rumoured problems in the development of Perfect Dark that mean it may not be released as a launch title for the Prime though. The converse it possibly true of Fable, and the extension given to its development will quite possibly mean that it will be available as a launch title for the Prime.
It makes perfect sense that the really, really, really, long rumoured Marcus Fenix Trilogy will finally release this year, and my money is on it shadow-dropping on both the Xbox and the PlayStation.
Personally, I am absolutely convinced that the Prime will release in Fall of 2026, and E-Day in particular will be a launch title for it. Whether E-Day will launch day one on the PS5 too, I am less certain of. I'm probably 50/50 about that, though it needs to be realised that if The Marcus Fenix Trilogy does release the same day on both the Xbox and the PlayStation, then Pandora's box will have been split wide open, and thus the chances of E-Day releasing on the PS5 the same day as the Prime are massively increased as Microsoft will want to capitalise on any momentum that The Marcus Fenix Trilogy will have garnered...
The gears collection day one makes sense on PS5 but gear e day wouldn’t if they want to sell a new Xbox console off the back of the game.
Then release gears e day on PS5 about 6 months plus later.
But I bet you millions they won’t say gears e day is going PS5 until after its release on a new Xbox console.
I don't care about a Collection, but I'll play E-Dsy.
I'll get hyped when we have something concrete to go on!
@Nexozi when exactly do you think a new Xbox is releasing? 2026? No way, bro.
2028/29 at the earliest
Please include Judgment and RAAM’s Shadow DLC in this collection
@dreadful Well the rumours are 2026 is when they'll release it. We'll see, but why would they want to leave it any longer considering they've given up on the series X/S?
@somnambulance Yes, with them stopping advertisements and the stock shortage, it does seem like they're moving on. Gears and Fable are 2 big games, so would make sense to launch with the new console.
I don't recall that rumour, @Godot25. Fable was delayed because it needed more time in the oven. I think E-Day filling that gap was speculated on websites such as this one.

I don't believe anyone has actually stated that Fable was delayed to make room for E-Day...
Phil already said he wanted to include PS5 (and PC/Switch etc) logos in last years summer showcase but they decided too late. So yea. If they hadn’t decided too late - we would have seen PS5 logos on anything that is far enough out to have a PS5 version ready at launch.
There isn’t really any discussion or speculation anymore as it’s all multiplatform.
Regarding the actual trilogy - I would have always assumed it would be 2026 because it’s the 20th anniversary; same as Oblivion. But hey they really are going hard this year.
Makes sense. This year is going to be great as it is, not only for first party, but for 3rd party, and GP combined. If Fable and Gears are 2026, and we manage to squeeze in SoD3, 2026 will be pretty damn special!
@Fiendish-Beaver I think they push back on xbox for 2027.
Also there likely wont be a true next gen only game when prime launches, especially if its earlier than ps6.
I bet gears e-day to be cross gen title on current and next gen, with smaller improvements on next gen (similar to ps5 pro improvements). And day on ps5.
Especially if mark fenix collection is released this year on ps5, makes perfect sense to launch e day day 1 on ps5 as well
@OldGamer999 I dont think they want to sell console. I dont see them aggressively marketing next gen. It will be there for whoever wants it and thats it.
Games-wise I bet on starting with next gen every game will be day 1 on all platforms including switch 2 where technically possible. That includes e-day, especially if they launch marcus fenix collection this year on ps5.
Honestly very hyped for both. Dont care if its on PS as I will play via GP.
Next gen I plan to wait for PS6 and Prime and see what happens in 2-3 years before making an educated choice but leaning towards Ps6 as likely will have less time to play so GP factor will be less important. Regardless will keep my SX as a backlog/backwards compat machine
I mostly agree, @Millionski, though I still think 2026. Honestly, I would not be shocked if E-Day can be played on the One and the PS4 too. All that we would see is improved performance on the better consoles.
As for the Prime. I think there is a possibility that it will be sold at close to £1000, and that it will be a premium console, verging on being a PC. I think that is what will make it unique within the console sphere, and is what Microsoft mean when they say that they are looking to make a console that Sony cannot compete with...
@Fiendish-Beaver I think gears will be on UE5 so xbox one/ps4 wont handle it. Even series s struggles.
Phil said they are not trying to sell $1k consoles. Maybe he will pull it off at 999 haha but I doubt so.
Ps6 will be sold likely at 600-700. Even with inflation, people are not ready for 700 consoles. Maybe for next gen yeah, but definitely not 1k.
1k will annihilate the current xbox user base where they have most of GP subs.
Maybe alongside a traditional box for 600-700 they sell xbox pc hybrid for 1k but not replacing it fully.
I entirely get what you are saying, @Millionski, but if the Prime were sold as a premium product, alongside the X and the S, then that makes all the difference. If Microsoft look to have this truly high-end product that completely differentiates itself from the PS6 and the PS7, then that would make it a unique product that some people will buy into. Just because Microsoft bring out the Prime does not mean they have to stop selling the Series consoles. Thus Microsoft could offer the Prime as a premium console and the Series consoles for those that just want to buy into the Microsoft universe without spending a grand on the Prime.
It's just a thought. I honestly have no idea about what the Prime will be like. I'm just taking the two statements that we have thus far had (Bond: huge technological leap and Spencer: a product with which Sony cannot compete) and trying to make sense of both of them. A 'premium' console is the best I can come up with! I mean, it could even be modular so that you actually upgrade parts of it, rather than buy a new console every 5-7 years. Plus, having the Series consoles selling along side the Prime does mean that the Series can actually run a normal 7 year cycle.
Like I say, I have absolutely no idea. I'm just spit-balling
