IO Interactive, the team behind the Hitman series, has today announced that it will be publishing new AAA blockbuster MindsEye this summer; developed by brand-new studio Build a Rocket Boy.

With an official Xbox Series X|S release date of June 10th, 2025, MindsEye looks to thrill players with its "story-driven, action-adventure thriller, set in a fictional near-future Americana". The team also says that the game will feature "best-in-class cinematics, high octane driving, and explosive combat" - which sounds like a nice recipe to us.

Here's the basic setup for MindsEye on Xbox:

"Play as Jacob Diaz, a former soldier with a mysterious neural implant who is suffering from memory loss and flashbacks. Set out on a series of dangerous covert missions to unlock the secrets of your past in a world filled with the persistent threat of artificial intelligence, high-tech experimentation, corporate espionage, political corruption, and an unchecked military. MindsEye is an immersive experience with a mind-bending complex narrative, rich environments, groundbreaking combat, future tech, and high speed chases."

If you're screaming 'GTA, GTA!' at your screen while looking at any of this, well, former Rockstar president Leslie Benzies is directing MindsEye - with some clear influences from his past work. Benzies was the lead developer from GTA 3 right up to GTA 5, so it's safe to say the bloke has some pedigree behind him when it comes to blockbuster action games.

While this is the first we're hearing about that nearby launch date, the team did actually showcase MindsEye earlier this year at State of Play, and got lots of attention while doing so. We'll throw the studio's previous gameplay trailer down below to give you even more of a taste ahead of MindsEye's Xbox Series X|S release on June 10th.
