Sniper Elite dev Rebellion's new title Atomfall is almost here on Xbox Game Pass, and in a new interview with the folks over at IGN, the team has revealed what sort of runtime we can expect for the upcoming open-world survival game.
According to Ryan Greene, art director at Rebellion, Atomfall is "25-ish hours" long - with Greene then adding that completionists will be able to stretch that runtime "a long way" if they check out everything there is to do in Atomfall.
"It [Atomfall] is a spider web of connected story [...] So even if you sever one thread, you can usually find another thread that leads you back to the overall mystery."
That sounds like a pretty healthy runtime to us - these sorts of survival games are usually pretty adaptable, and how long you spend with them can totally depend on playstyle. Even with that in mind, it sounds like there'll be plenty to dig into with Atomfall on Xbox Game Pass later this month.
And, if you're excited to try this one out ASAP, the game has actually just gone live to preload. Rebellion's Atomfall comes in at roughly 30GB and is available to install right now with Xbox Game Pass - ahead of the game's full release on March 27th, 2025.

That's a good runtime as far as I'm concerned. I quite enjoy their games but that last Sniper Elite was... lacking
Seems a good time.
Some other site yesterday was moaning it was a short playtime at 25 hours ish.
That's a good length. Too many games are far too long these days. Yes they represent great value in that sense but it's the main reason many of us have neverending backlogs. Personally I don't want most games to be more than 10-40 hours. If it's an epic RPG then I can and will do more but they are so commonplace I don't know how anyone gets through more than three or four games a year and does other things in life haha
There is a lot of hidden stuff in Atomfall so if you are someone like me who looks in every dark corner for stuff & does the optional quests I believe you could double that play time at least (going from what has been said by other Rebellion devs in their many pre-launch video overviews.)
Can't wait to dive in to this one.
Atomfall and Blue Prince are my most anticipated games… I usually have to double the time expected times anyways as I like looking around for things…
@OldGamer999 a lot of folk like long games, sometimes not even long, engaging games. I don't really mind filler as long as it's fun. I liked AC Odyssey because it gave me that dopamine hit constantly but hated AC Valhalla because, despite the fact that there was so much to do, a lot of it was carbon copy sit-and-wait-for-AI-to-walk-to-you *****. Both had similar playtimes for me and but I'd rather spend 200 hours doing something I like than something dull.
That said, people see playtime's and think that's going to be 50-60 hours of pure fun, and a lot of the time it's menus.
Not long enough. I demand that the developers reduce the walking speed by 75% to make the game longer. Maybe stretch out those loading screens too. Gamers need value for money these days.
@Kaloudz I quite enjoy their games as well, I'm definitely looking forward to Atomfall. I'm almost done with Avowed, I've got a little over 3 days play time. With games like Avowed, I will do every possible side quest until I can't then I'll progress the main quest until I unlock more side missions. Right now I am at the last map and finishing the side quests there before continuing to the Avowed end game.
I'm kinda bummed to be done with Avowed. I've never played The Outer Worlds & I keep reading that it's similar but obviously a different type of setting and play style. I hear the writing is spectacular though so I may give it a try. Have you played The Outer Worlds? You have any input?
@Master_Cthulhu70 Yeah Atomfall looks great. I'm keen to try it out and see what it's like. I actually like the slow-burn design choices that they've gone for.
As for Avowed, I sadly had to stop playing as it give me a seizure. It's not the game's fault at all, but more the colour splashes and flashes. I'm glad you're having a great time
I've not played Outer Worlds but I've heard great things about it. I think it looks quite comical too. Like a sci-fi light hearted adventure with humour dotted around the journey.
