Remember Arcadegeddon? This co-op roguelike shooter was initially a PlayStation exclusive before it made its way to Xbox consoles a few years ago, and now it's suddenly become a free-to-play game for the very first time.
The title is clearly embarking on a new strategy for the future, and its relatively decent Metacritic score of 73 suggests it's worth a try at least - it also has "Mostly Positive" reviews on Steam and a rating of 4.3/5 on the Xbox Store.
Here's a bit of what you can expect from Arcadegeddon on Xbox:
"Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. ...and what better way to stick it to the man than with a brand-spanking-new super game. Unfortunately, the corp gets wind of Gilly’s plan and launches a cyberattack, injecting a virus into the game. Now it’s up to you, will you rise up to save both the game and the last remaining local arcade?"
"This ever-evolving co-op multiplayer shooter allows you and up to 3 friends to explore multiple biomes, compete in mini games, find hidden chests, and battle a crazy cast of enemies and bosses. Arcadegeddon lets you play at your own pace with its mix of PVE and PVP gameplay. Speed into the action or take it slow, it’s up to you."
It'll be interesting to see how the free-to-play strategy works out for Arcadegeddon, and it's certainly helped in terms of marketing - it feels like it hasn't been talked about much for ages, and now suddenly it's getting a fair bit of attention!
We can't say we've tried this one for ourselves, so we're keen to hear what you think. Have you played Arcadegeddon? Would you recommend downloading it? Let us know in the poll and comments section down below.

Doesn't look too bad. Definitely worth a shot for free. Is it just me, or are Steam user reviews almost always more positive than console user reviews?
@Kaloudz played it on PS5. Generic, repetitive, boring. Might be interesting at first, when you try different weapons, abilities, etc., but afterwards becomes too grindy. Better spend time on something more rewarding.
@Tomato_Goose Meh I'll give it a skip then. Thanks chief. I'll probably claim it for the sake of owning it. I used to do that with all the Games with Gold games and still to this day haven't touched more than a handful of them lol!
@Kaloudz I did same 😂 but games with gold was straight 🐶💩though 90% of time😭 best game I reckon was resi evil remake was a few good ones but could go months with nothing worth loading lmao 🤣
coop shooter … nope back to Monster Train
@Decimateh LOL Glad it wasn't just me that grabbed them for no good reason other than to just own them lol. I often forget they have their own tab in the "My Games and Apps" section - and for some reason don't show up in the "Owned Games" section.
@Kaloudz coz we don't own them as soon as you don't have gold so gamepass now I guess you can't play em 🤣
@Decimateh Oh yeah!!! I totally forgot that 😂 We only own them as long as we have an active subscription, right?
@Kaloudz ye pal that's why not in owned games. stop paying stop playing 🤣🤣 although suppose you gotta be actually playing em for that 😅
@Decimateh That's true 🤣🤣 I don't think there's any I'll ever play but ah well, I was still greedy enough to grab them at each and every opportunity 😜
@Kaloudz same I played a couple but majority I don't even know why I downloaded em tbh I was like it's free might aswell 🤣 although
