In recent months, Microsoft has announced PS5 versions of some of its biggest Xbox titles - but not many of them have actual release dates just yet. That's about to change though - because alongside Age of Mythology's arrival next month, Xbox is set to move two more games over in April 2025.
First off, let's talk Forza Horizon 5. This one has been confirmed as part of the team's recent information blowout on Horizon Realms; a major update coming to the open-world racer. The PS5 early access version arrives alongside 'Realms' on April 25th - with the standard edition then releasing a few days afterwards on April 29th.
However, that might not be it for major Xbox releases heading to PS5 in April. In a new 'notepad' article from The Verge's Tom Warren, it's said that Microsoft is also planning to move Indiana Jones and the Great Circle over that month as well. We don't have a nailed-on date for Indy just yet, but given that April is a little over a month away and the team said it was coming in Spring 2025, we're expecting Xbox to formally announce that one soon too.
With major Xbox titles now locked and loaded for PS5 in both March and April, Microsoft really is going full steam ahead with its new multiplatform plan. We maybe expected the team to spread these out a little more, but with games like Hellblade 2, Gears of War and Halo also rumoured to be moving over at some stage, they have plenty to pick from in the coming months and years.
Thoughts on this, PXers? Talk to us about these planned PS5 releases down below.

I’m over this but still doubt a full home under the tv next gen Xbox.
I read an article the other day that Xbox are about a year behind Sony on the PS6.
Sony have their SoC sort of ready and Microsoft are not even at that stage and it is still in the balance. It did get the green light but not sure it what form or even if an under the TV pure home console as we know it.
I think it will happen if game pass stays off PlayStation and Nintendo as Xbox consoles have a high game pass subscription count.
But I bet a trillion dollars Microsoft want game pass on PlayStation and Nintendo and if that deal went through, there would no next generation Xbox standard home console.
I'm just interested in what games we are getting on Xbox really can't be bothered by what old games Microsoft release on playstation anymore I'm not financially benefiting or losing anything from it or gaining anything from it as a Xbox gamer!
It's the same story just told slightly different to the ones we are hearing for months!!
Literally can't wait till loads are just released so this isn't a thing anymore!
Is it me or does this belong on Push Square? Hardly Xbox news.
@gollumb82 You are 100% right on that mate!👏
Microsoft play this very close to their chest when it comes to the new games releases.
Yes Doom they have said is day one PS5 and of course COD is the deal that was done.
But other games like avowed, south of midnight and Fable, even though delayed they have said nothing.
Phil said they would say now, but there is a big but.
It really means we say when we are ready to tell you which means they could release Avowed and midnight and fable but not on release day on PS5 and say nothing. Then once released a few months later say the games are getting a Sony or Nintendo release in 6 months time.
The big reason to keep some Xbox console momentum and of course the big one game pass on Xbox console subscriptions, which is where over 50% of game pass subs are.
They not as open as we all think or they say they are. They are extremely cagey about it really, with new game releases.
By the way reference my above post.
If I was in business at Microsoft I would have to play the same cagey game, for the sake of Xbox consoles and game pass subscribers.
Else they could lose a lot of money.
Man they in for a treat with Indy! What an exceptional game.
The downward spiral continues. It was a good run Xbox.
@gollumb82 you aren't wrong but I think Fraser has said before. Industry buzz is all over MS bringing titles to PS5 at the min so any news around it drives site traffic.
Do they want to be publishing articles like this on here all the time? I'd imagine not lol
The stages of grief... first there was denial, then anger, and now we are in acceptance lol
@FatGuyInLilCoat It's just boring now even the comments are the same every story like this!
Some people like it!
Some people think it means Xbox is dying!
There's the trolling the outrage the explanations to how it's good or bad it's a groundhog day story with groundhog day comments!!
@gollumb82 Might have missed the memo... Everything is an Xbox
@FatGuyInLilCoat it was always indifference to me. It doesn't matter to me in the slightest what platforms games release on & never has.
@Ricky-Spanish i agree. And I was partially just joking but looking back on this rollercoaster you can definitely see the phases. I definitely went through a few phaes myself.
PS5 news - Pushsquare. Xbox news - Purexbox. See how easy that was? You're welcome.
@themightyant
Touche! 😉
It is very sad that xbox thinks 5 days of early access on a simple port of a game from 4 years ago is something people will want to pay extra for. I hate this fake "early access" version when its a new game but this is just pathetic.
Otherwise I am happy to see these games available to more people.
@OldGamer999 honestly the biggest wake up call is that they seemingly not trying to restock and sell series consoles which is just insane in big markets for xbox like UK or Canada.
With such approach I dont know how they gonna sell next xbox.
If they dont restock around GTA time…thats just free several millions of console sales right there along with peolle playing for GP to access online. That would confirm the theory
In next decadeI bet on them losing the platform at all because PC is dominated by steam, handheld market is dominated by switch and switch 2, and home console will be dominated by Sony. There is just not enough place for xbox.
I dont think share will drop less than 20M or so as those are GP people and loyalists.
And for sure in distant future when we are all in cloud, Ms will make a huge comeback but why not even try with console until then? Why push cloud so hard today when technology is just not there yet.
Anyways, I am enjoying my series X. Great console. Thinking about not buying any next gen consoles tbh and just sit on series thru the cross gen. So good 5 years or so. And then market will show if xbox console is worth it.
Next gen even for Ps6 doubtly will amaze us.
Way more excited about switch 2 tho - thats where we see huge difference.
My sleep addled brain read this title totally wrong haha. I read it as "Xbox planning release dates for 2 games being ported from ps5"
Wowzers
@OldGamer999 problem is solved if they could say “we have too many games to keep as exclusives, so here is the criteria - these games are multiplat, and these are permanent xbox exclusives”.
Thats it.
Even if its more of a tier 2 exclusives like HB2 or south of midnight, still having some permanent exclusives will be wise.
Its just seems they are trying to exit this game all together. If next xbox is a pc then its done basically. In such case maybe sony stops porting to pc lol.
If you think about it, they are releasing best series gen games on PS. While starfield and redfall are still exclusives, hifi rush/forza/indy are in high 80 or 90 even are going to PS. The most anticipated Ms game that is not COD this year is Doom - day 1 on PS.
Interesting times.
Personally think Series X is just great machine. I got a 2nd one for another floor and enjoy despite all this. Next gen is big question mark though
@Ricky-Spanish true and this year is pretty dry for sony. But if they figure out their pipeline in future and have more interesting games, then PS looks lucrative. I am not a fan of their open world 3rd person games, but something like astrobot sequel or recently announced saros looks interesting
@Millionski
Absolutely correct most main stores in the UK are totally out of Xbox console stock, Argos and Game none and Smyths Toys very little and restock date is April.
What a joke really that’s at least one month away and the UK is a big Xbox market.
And you think the daft buggers would realise Xbox consoles are the biggest game pass buyers as well.
Don’t care what any Xbox fanboy says on here it is obviously deliberate.
@Millionski
Switch 2 I was excited for thinking would release early 2024 or maybe September 2024 now I’m bored of waiting and the longer it goes on the less interested I am.
The main reason is that third party support will be all old PS4/xbox games that I’ve played already and probably won’t play as well performance wise. Especially if you included the Xbox one x.
First party I’m not sure what will release in 2025, looking like a Mario kart but if that’s the only really big one and no Mario or DK 3d platform game and just a 4K BOTW and some quirky game, then the Switch 2 is definitely not doing it for me in 2025.
@OldGamer999 i want it for first party and indies.
Like i have so many indies on xbox via GP or the ones I bought on sales and I hardly ever touch them.
Seems like switch is the perfect place for them. Something like recent tails of iron 2.
I am huge fan of MK8 and Mario odyssey is one
Of the best games I ever played. So odyssey 2 would be instant buy for me.
I also liked zelda but I was already picky at that time and wanted 60fps lol. I will play both if they get 4k/60. Just these 3 games is like several hundred hours lol. Thats why I am hyped.
Yeah I agree, dont care about ps4 era games, played them on xbox
@Millionski
Definitely for Nintendo first party games.
Mario odyssey was amazing.
I shall wait and see what big Nintendo in house AAA release in 2025 before I jump in.
So much on Xbox GPU this year so far so much to play.
@Millionski
Interesting in the UK Xbox all access that got you a series s or x console and 24 months GPU paid over 24 months interest free has now been stopped.
They really trying hard not to sell consoles or GPU with a console.
Was an amazing option and deal for people being interest free paying monthly and always worked out cheaper than buying separately.
@Millionski Regarding Starfield, I think it's going to be brought over to PS5 when the 2nd expansion releases. That appears to be Microsoft's strategy for games that have post-launch updates or DLC, PS5 release to coincide with PC/Xbox getting the update/DLC. Grounded, Sea of Thieves, AoM, FH5 and AoE2 have all followed this pattern.
So like I wouldn't be surprised if Indiana Jones PS5 releases the same day as the Order of Giants DLC releases for all platforms.
@gollumb82 Get used to it mate. If we want this site to survive, then it needs to report news on Microsoft Gaming and not restrict itself to a hardware platform with a debatable future.
More players on these titles is also favourable to the online modes and communities, so it has some small relevance to those that choose to play Xbox..
I play everywhere, so it's not irrelevant to me, I guess it's just about how this site remains viable for the future? This is my favourite of the sites, sites I still pay a yearly sub towards, and I'd like to see them carve out a solid future concentrating on Microsoft games in addition to the console. If everything is genuinely an Xbox, then they need to report on everything to stay relevant. They should have articles about cloud access and best hardware for portable access to cloud gaming, how best to play native on the gaming TVs where you can play Xbox etc etc.
As someone who wants to see the site flourish, I recognise it can't stand still and fade to obscurity, it needs to develop in the direction that Microsoft themselves have chosen.
Am I wrong? Maybe there is an arguement for keeping it small and drawing in the barriers, but all I see with that statagey is a gradual decline and closure.... I think it's a debate Fraiser has to be considering..
I hope they use their ABK deal to do an Age of Empires port for mobile. Let's face it, Clash, Age of War and so many crappy mobile apps have tried to copy their formulas and put in Timer-For-Money gimmicks to give mobile gamers just a taste of what the real AoE has to offer. I really like the controller feel they added to the series on Xbox. Hoping for more Age of Empires!
@Titntin I feel a focus on Microsoft Game Studios makes total sense as Pure Xbox is no longer Microsoft's focus. That is super hard from an SEO perspective so I'm sure it will be a challenge for the PureXbox team as they've written thousands of articles. I'm sure they can consolidate some stuff with Push Square and Nintendo Life like they do with Time Extension. I visit this site almost everyday but agree it'll have to transform with Microsoft's strategy to generate more buzz. I imagine if the Xbox market is shrinking the site will plateau too. Hoping Fraser, PJ and team can keep all the good stuff coming regardless of what MS is deciding on!
@Kilamanjaro Thanks mate. I'd be gutted if this site faded away so I hope they take this opportunity to consider some new sections or ideas AS WELL as being the place for all our Xbox console news...
Xbox has become a PlayStation developer. PureXbox reports on Xbox. Should PureXbox ignore what Xbox has become or embrace what Xbox has become? It’s a multi-platform site now. Embrace the change.
@Grumblevolcano thats not my point. I am saying best games of series gen (based on scores) are coming on PS.
It really is extremely weird, isn’t it? That the Series S and X are no where to be found basically. It’s the same here in Sweden. Not a single X or S in stock anywhere…. I could have understood it if a new console was on the way, or if the S/X sold like hot cakes. But we know none of those things are true. So yeah. What the hell is going on?? It’s almost like they’re exiting the console business completely like ninjas, except in plain sight. We know that’s not the case though, obviously. It wouldn’t make sense.
But no consoles to buy basically anywhere doesn’t make any sense either!
Baffling to be honest…. 🤦🏻♂️
