This week, Xbox included Bandai Namco fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ in its Free Play Days selection - a program that allows free access to games for a limited time each weekend. However, just like we saw last month with Alan Wake Remastered, it appears that some players are managing to claim this game to keep forever.
We've spotted this glitch over at bargain-hunting website HotUKDeals, which details how players can seemingly grab the Free Play Days title to keep for good. Basically, both the current-gen and last-gen versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ are playable here - and if users download the Xbox One version and load it up, they're being offered to "upgrade" to the Xbox Series X|S version at no extra cost.

What then appears to happen, is that the Series X|S version is tied to your Xbox account and should remain active and playable after the game leaves Free Play Days. Of course, this is seemingly a glitch and there's every chance Microsoft could revoke the game afterwards - but for now, the Xbox Series X|S upgrade is being tied to accounts for keeps.

This strange glitch method does mean that you'll need to have an Xbox Series X or S console to play the game this way, and you also need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to download the FPD version in the first place. We can't guarantee that this glitch will work for everyone though, and as we've already mentioned, there's every chance this could be revoked once Microsoft and/or Bandai Namco spots the error.
Has anyone here managed to claim this yet? Talk to us about it down below.

This happened the last time it was on a free play day, I wondered why it was in my owned games library a few weeks later.
Such a good freaking game, belongs in everyone's library and the sales give no excuse why you shouldn't own some version of it
Happened for the Alan Wake game (which by the way, worked - I got it for free and they never took it away).
Well, it probably will be revoked, now that you've reported on it. Stuff like this should be kept on the down-low. If you know, you know. But now everybody knows, including MS.
Looks like it is already patched. I downloaded Xbox One version. When I started it asked if I wanted to upgrade to Series X|S version, I accepted, it said something to the effect of thank you for your purchase. I go to my Owned games, but I don't see it. When I go back in to Xbox One, it again offers to upgrade, when I accept, it says it looks like I already own it, but I still don't see it in my Owned games list.
Edit: If I actually go to the X|S version it does say Install You Own this, but it doesn't actually show up in my Owned list of games (unlike Alan Wake Remastered glitch that still shows up in my Owned list). So it seems to be in the half patched limbo. In a few years I'm not going to remember that I "own this" if it doesn't show up in my owned list of games...
@GoldenPants ur absolutely right it still does work…I just did it…the game just doesn’t show up under My Owned Games when viewing my library but if I go to the game in the Microsoft Store it says I own it…only problem is unless I leave it installed on my console I will forget I have it (since it doesn’t show u in ur games library list)
You have to restart your Xbox right after you do it and it will show up in your owned games. Just did it a fee minutes ago on my son's xboxes. I did mine last night and it's worked each time
And even if it doesn't work. This game is awesome and cheap as hell.
@Kilamanjaro game was a whole vibe back in 2018, i refuse to say “back in the day” because i can’t believe it’s been that long already! we need a sequel!
@nomither6 definitely! I remember how good it looked running even on the Nintendo Switch. Just like the anime. Such a fun game!
@txpistolpete restarting my Xbox worked and it’s now showing up under Owned Games in my library…gotta love a free game….between this and Allen Wake Remastered I’m two for two lol
