Looking for something to spend your Microsoft Rewards points on? Well, there's a fantastic deal doing the rounds in certain regions which allows you to pick up six Lord of the Rings / Hobbit movies for just 1,500 points each.
This is part of something called the Middle-earth Movie Collection, and we can verify that it appears in both the UK and US (we've tested it with The Fellowship of the Ring in the UK and it works fine!). Simply head to the "Redeem" section of Microsoft Rewards on a browser, and if it's available to you, it should be pretty visible.
Once you've received your code and redeemed it, you'll be able to access the movie(s) by using the Films & TV app on Xbox and/or PC. Xbox users will be prompted to install this when hitting the "Watch" button on the film's store page.

You can pick from one of the following six films to purchase for 1,500 Microsoft Rewards points:
- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition)
- The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition)
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Extended Edition)
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition)
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Extended Edition)
- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Extended Edition)
To give you an idea of how cheap these six movies are, if you were to spend 1,500 points on a Microsoft Gift Card, you'd only get just over £1 in the UK. So, even if you just have a passing interest in one of these, it's probably worth grabbing!
Just keep in mind that, as we've said, the Middle-earth Movie Collection is only available in certain regions. It's always a shame when some Xbox fans have to miss out on offers like this - hopefully it'll extend to more people eventually.
What do you make of this Xbox Rewards deal? Will you be grabbing any films? Tell us down below.

Wow, nice for the UK to be included with the movie stuff for once. I have these digitally elsewhere but it’s still tempting. Think I only have like 2K points at the moment though.
Some of Xbox’s deals are really good 👀
It's a shame that gaining points was nerfed into oblivion some time ago.
And if you haven't enough points just stream em online for free 😉
Are these films to own or just rental??
Hopefully it works for Ireland this is a great deal!
@Ricky-Spanish To own!
Do Xbox offer 4K yet?
@FraserG Thanks mate but just checked it there it's not available in Ireland 😭 A shame it's a great deal!
But the second thing in two days us Paddy's are missing out on with the out of warranty Xbox repairs in Currys!
Thanks Microsoft, pog mo thoin from us unworthy Irish ✌️
@PeaceSalad Yeah of course though its certain films not every film.
@Ricky-Spanish Oh thanks for clarifying, I can only see SD/HD on purchase options, am I doing something wrong?
Wait what? Do my eyes deceive me? We UK folks are getting a slice of the action too? 🧐
Great movies. People moan about the prequel trilogy but I thought they were better than LotR 2 and 3.
I was hoping Spain would also be included, but I've been here for over a month and everyday I see the same message:
Looks like you are on the go! For now, you'll continue to see the Rewards experience for Brazil. If you continue to earn points from Spain, then you will see the Rewards experience for Spain in the future.
I wonder how long it'll take them to switch rewards stuff for me
@PeaceSalad Not to sure buddy I just checked a couple new films there on the store I get 3 options SD,HD and UHD to choose from🤷
Does anyone know what version these movies will be if I redeem? SD, HD, or UHD?
Thanks!
I want the Hobbit trilogy, I already have the extended edition of TLotR on BD.
@GamingFan4Lyf You can check that on your Xbox or Xbox app, search a film and see the available options. It depends on your region.
@Banjo- So these redemptions aren't for a specific "version" just the film and any available options for said film?
@GamingFan4Lyf Unlike other stores, the price on Xbox is the same for all the available resolutions, you just choose which one to download. Microsoft Rewards counts as a purchase.
@Banjo- Gotcha, thanks.
It's important because my Microsoft purchases are linked to my Movies Anywhere account which then filter into my Vudu (sorry...Fandango at Home) account.
I don't use Microsoft Movies for anything - I don't even have an Xbox Series X anymore.
@Ricky-Spanish No worries mate, I seldom buy digital films as I’m rebuilding a physical collection. More curious than anything as Apple TV is more than adequate.
Ooooo this is very tempting
Tricky as that is very cheap and I love LOTR, but at the same time there are so many games releasing in the near future that I need to save my points for! (Split Fiction, Lies of P DLC, Little Nightmares 3, Borderlands 4 etc.).
I have LOTR trilogy on 4K, but not really a fan of the Hobbit movies. Great deal for anyone that doesn’t have them yet though.
Already own all six extended versions on 4k discs.
As in physical media. The best way to watch 4k movies with superior sound quality. As in the absolute best way to experience movies.
I only had enough points to get 3 of them so I got The Hobbit Trilogy as I have LoTR original trilogy on blu ray already
@Nightcrawler71 Hobbit trilogy surprised me. For me it was like two movie build up to finish up going all out for basically 3 hour action movie.
Did not expect that. Really enjoyed.
The Hobbit films are funnier, not necessarily better. What I like about them all is that they are more similar to the books than the TV series.
@Kaloudz I've got rather a soft spot for the Hobbit trilogy too - But better than Two Towers and RotK?? You must be joking 🙂
@IronCrow86 Ugh man I hated Two Towers. It literally just felt like filler to me 😅 RotK was great, but I much prefer Hobbit trilogy. Speaking of, it won't be long before we get that new farm-sim shire game won't it?
@Kaloudz Ya know it's been 8yrs this September when Shadow of War came out - It baffles how we haven't had a great Middle Earth game since (never forget Gollum existed) ....Will the Shire game be worth the wait?? It damn well better 😄🙂
One of my biggest gripes with the Hobbit trilogy was the look of them - far too much “green screen” going on. Yes, I know LOTR had some, but nowhere near as much, and the LOTR movies generally looked more natural/grounded.
I saw these last night-- so far I've picked up the first three films! Trying to grind out for The Hobbit, just hope this lasts a little while.
(but thanx anyway)
Thanks! Works for me in Canada. I already purchased the LOTR in UHD on Microsoft Movies & TV app, was not a big fan of the Hobbit series, but for just 1,500 points that's a super cheap price! It didn't ever ask which resolution I wanted, but after redemption it is the UHD version, so thanks again!
@IronCrow86 Man that makes me feel old. Has it really been that long? They were great games. I always wanted them to use that nemesis system on other games / media.
@Xbox_Dashboard yup, I'm on the PC app or Series X several times a week and I have 210 points. I don't remember the last time I spent any. I think rewards must be for kids glued to their TV or something.
The Hobbit is the definition of filler, it's 1 book (poorly) stretched out into 3 movies.
They made the only character I can think of as bad or possibly worse than Jar Jar. I was embarrassed to be sitting in the theater every time he was on screen, which was a LOT. Completely botched my favorite book as a kid.
I'd be all over this if I didn't already own them all on Xbox.
@Jenkinss yup completely agree. Original LOTR trilogy was one book one movie, so The Hobbit should have followed that precedent with one movie. Not to mention The Hobbit 3 extended length movies is definitely over doing it!
Interesting. I've only got enough to buy one of them so I have to make my choice. I own all the LotR movies on Blu Ray, and the first Hobbit movie.
