We've got a date for the next WWE game! It was announced last night on WWE Raw that WWE 2K25 will release for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One (along with other platforms) on March 14, 2025.
Along with the trailer you see above, it was confirmed that Roman Reigns will be the cover star this year, also appearing in the new 2K Showcase - "The Bloodline’s Dynasty". The Undertaker is the star of the special "Deadman Edition".
The trailer teases that you'll be able to go "beyond the ring" on current-gen consoles with the addition of something called The Island too, which is an interactive online world that's built around a series of WWE themes. It seems as though it resembles something like The City in the NBA 2K series at first glance.
"The Island offers players the opportunity to explore and challenge other players, while vying to earn a WWE contract by impressing “The Original Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. By completing quests, taking on challenges, competing in live events, earning unlockables, and upgrading and customizing MySUPERSTARS through multiple storyline chapters, The Island allows players to step outside the ropes and “Rule Beyond the Ring. Available only on PS5® and Xbox Series X|S."
Beyond this, there's the return of all the usual modes with various new features, such as Universe mode which is finally adding Promos once again, along with MyGM which is officially adding online multiplayer support for the first time.
There are plenty of new gameplay features as well, such as intergender wrestling, chain wrestling and barricade diving, along with two new match types in the Bloodline Rules Match and the Underground Match.
Pre-orders begin today for WWE 2K25, and if you buy any version digitally, you'll get a free copy of WWE 2K24 for that platform as well. Better yet, picking up one of the more expensive editions will net you a week of early access.
You'll find more details about WWE 2K25 along with some screenshots down below.
"New updates and gameplay advancements include 2K Showcase: The Bloodline’s Dynasty, the first retelling of the Bloodline saga and an interactive celebration of the legacy of the extended Anoa’i wrestling family, new match types and stipulations, such as the Underground Match, Bloodline Rules Match and Intergender matchups, the return of Chain Wrestling, a new MyRISE experience, and much more."

@Isolte I was thinking the same thing. We'll get six months at best then the servers are gone. Bullish tactics to make us pay for the latest version to continue playing online with friends.
@Isolte Same. I own a couple, 2K16 and 24 because of the Wrestlemania history, and that'll do me. It'll be fun to couch co-op when the inevitable does happen but as long as they're doing what they're doing then with the multiple versions and microtransactions (typical 2K) they can shove it from now on.
I'll be skipping this one. The Showcase mode is getting worse every year, and I don't care about Roman Reigns. It has to have an amazing MyRyse Mode for me to care.
@Isolte Ah yes, the franchise where 2K shut the serves down as soon as a new edition release date is announced or shortly after release.
They still do that???
@Isolte That's rotten 🤣🤣
@Isolte I'm surprised they still have a fan-base if that's what they continue to do 🤣
The additions and content like the Wyatt Sicks make me willing to dip again. I don't play online, don't plan to play much online, but there's a lot to tempt me outside of online.
If all of my games became expensive drinks coasters outright a few weeks after the next game released, I'd be annoyed, but I still play 2K23 at times and will still play 2K24 after my copy of 2K25 releases.
Yes, if the fans played the games solely to beat each other up online, it would lose fans faster than you can say AEW, but they don't, and the game is a lot more stable than... certain versions.
I haven't played a wrestling game in about 20 years. Are any of the recent ones worth getting second hand?
