Microsoft Issues Statement As 'Hundreds' Of ZeniMax Workers Go On Strike

Yesterday was a turbulent day in the world of ZeniMax Media, as hundreds of unionised workers at the company went on strike against Microsoft at four different locations in Maryland and Texas.

As reported by IGN, this involves people who work on the likes of DOOM, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, and is related to an alleged "lack of progress at the bargaining table over remote work" along with claims of "unilaterally outsourcing quality assurance work without bargaining with the union". Here's what ZeniMax Workers United had to say about it:

"Today, we are on strike. We are not afraid to do what's necessary to make sure that Microsoft meets us at the bargaining table over key issues like remote work options and outsourcing."

"We deserve job security and improved working conditions. Hundreds of our members are striking from 10-6PM in Maryland and Texas today to tell Microsoft to stop dragging their feet."

Microsoft didn't stay quiet about this yesterday, providing a statement to IGN along with various other outlets about the strike, simply stating that the company will continue to "listen and address" their concerns.

The full statement from Microsoft is as follows:

"We respect our employees’ rights to express their point of view as they have done today. We will continue to listen and address their concerns at the bargaining table."

As mentioned by ZeniMax Workers United, this was only a one-day strike, so the workers will be returning to their offices today (November 14th). Here's hoping that the two parties can come to a suitable resolution as quickly as possible.
