Obsidian RPG Avowed isn't too far off launching on Xbox Game Pass early next year, and ahead of that release, we have a batch of new press previews to dig into - including more of an extended look at the game's third-person mode.
Yep, if you didn't know it, Avowed is playable entirely from a third-person perspective - even if lots of the team's footage so far has focused on first-person gameplay. To help you visualise the mode, we've thrown a timestamped video down below showing some fresh over-the-the shoulder gameplay clips.
In the video, the YouTuber also talks about their preview event chat with the developer on its third-person mode. As it turns out, Obsidian had been planning this mode right from the beginning of development - it just took its time revealing this to players.
Generally speaking, the rest of these new press previews are looking pretty positive for Avowed - just like a similar round of impressions did back in August. A Game Rant writer has called the Xbox RPG "one of my most-anticipated games of 2025", while Engadget described the title as "classic Obsidian Fantasy on a AAA budget".
We don't have long to make our own judgments anyway - Avowed hits Xbox Game Pass on February 18th, 2025.
