There's always something new to discover on Xbox if you look hard enough, and taking a browse at the Xbox Insider Hub this week, we've noticed multiple betas that Xbox owners can check out for free right now!
The newest one is for Off The Grid, which is described as an "extreme battle royale" featuring PvP and PvE elements, with the full game also reportedly featuring an "immersive 60-hour narrative campaign". It's apparently the first web3 game to arrive on the Xbox Store as well - the main release will include an "optional NFT element".
Here's what the developer behind Off The Grid says about this specifically:
"Off The Grid is not an NFT game. It’s a battle royale game with an optional NFT element. If you want to try out NFTs, you can; if you don’t want to, you don’t have to. It’s entirely up to the player how they want to play the game, and the game is playable without dipping into NFTs."
Beyond Off The Grid, the playtest for the upcoming Xbox Game Pass title 33 Immortals was extended recently until October 4th, so you've still got time to jump in and check that one out if you're interested.
And then, there's also the console beta for FragPunk which begins on October 10th, and you can sign up to it right now on Xbox. Get yourself in the mix, and you'll be ready to go when the 5v5 hero shooter begins its beta next week!
To access all of these free Xbox betas, you'll need to do the following:
- Install or launch the Xbox Insider Hub app on your Xbox console
- Go to the "Previews" section and look for the game you're interested in
- Hit the "Join" button
- Wait for the registration to complete, and then you'll be directed to install the beta!
The only caveats to be aware of is that some betas are exclusive to certain consoles (Off The Grid is exclusive to Xbox Series X during this beta, for example), and all of them operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
