It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but it sounds like the install size for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is going to be fairly darn chunky, folks. Leaked copies have appeared online for the Xbox version, with the back of the box stating that users will need 137GB of storage space to install the title.
Now, these back-of-the-box estimates aren't always 100% accurate — this number could certainly differ at launch — but with this being a 'minimum' requirement, we're fully expecting Black Ops 6 to be this sort of size on October 25th.
As you can see in the tweet there, the new COD game will need Call of Duty HQ to be installed, as the game will update and play through that app. Also, despite these copies now appearing in the wild, they can't actually be played yet due to the game's need for a constant internet connection, with Activision blocking this access for now.
The teams at Activision and Treyarch have hinted that file sizes will be reduced for this year's game (it'll apparently be a smaller download than Modern Warfare 3), and we'd certainly like to see that here. It's also worth noting that modern Call of Duty titles usually allow the user to uninstall chunks of the game they're not playing, so hopefully this cleans up that overall install footprint as well.
What do you make of this apparent Xbox file size for Black Ops 6? Go ahead and discuss down below.

Isn't that with warzone included shrugs
@StylesT Apparently you don't have to install Warzone this time around, so either the boxes were printed a long time ago and they hadn't factored this in, or BO6 itself is just very large.
Yikes. Let's hope this isn't the case, and can just install what you need rather than the whole ballgame. Such as getting rid of the single/multiplayer when you're not playing it.
Well currently on Xbox for modern warfare 3
You download everything separately.
So campaign, war zone, zombies, multiplayer etc.
so if you want like me you can just download the campaign only.
@Medic_alert
See my reply below.
I can download things all separately
And massively reduce file sizes.
If I’m remembering right, the MW2 reboot took up like 200GB for me so if this is true… it’s not too bad. Not great but a step in the right direction.
First Call of Duty I’ll play day one since the 360 generation!
I just can't understand why a game that usually lasts about 6 hours takes that much space. Can we just not download the multiplayer section? Think Advance Warfare was my last CoD purchase. Played for 30 minutes, hated it and never touched CoD again so not really sure what they do nowadays with installs but a 6 hour corridor shooter shouldn't take up that much space!
Just campaign for me. I find the MP pointless. Randoms shoved together for shooty-shooty. (With most hiding in corners like rats)
Can't wait for the next installment which will need 500gb of space xD
Let's gooooooo! First COD in a decade. Beta was really fun.
@Hydralicmonkey totally agree. Last COD I bought was the original MW2, but I though the COD6 beta was great fun, so me and my son are looking forward to playing on day one!
@NeutronBomb I like to hunt down those rats 😁😎
Well that’s as clear as mud!…does the 137GB include Call of Duty HQ? (base game)
If yes, then lots of people will already have that installed (41.4 GB)
That will bring the campaign down to about 96GB, which is far from ‘huge’.
May also hint at a better length to this year’s campaign- MWIII currently takes up 53.9GB.
Looking forward to it - only a few weeks until it drops on GPU.
