Activision has confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has set "new day one and opening weekend records" for the series.
Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella also mentioned how last week's launch was the "biggest" Call of Duty release ever - not only setting "a record for day one players" but also for "Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day".
In addition to this, it's been confirmed PlayStation and Steam unit sales are up by 60% year over year.
Activision broke down some of the milestones on social media, confirming Black Ops 6 had the most "total players", "hours played" and "total matches" in its three-day opening weekend.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released simultaneously on console, PC and Microsoft's Game Pass service.

What a shocker. Quality matters for most things, Call of Duty included. 😉
Firing on all cylinders.
Let's see if they keep momentum with good news.
That all feels like very carefully worded statements. Record subscriber adds on launch day? Record users on day one? These are oddly unspecific comments, just give us some numbers.
PlayStation now wishes they had taken Microsoft's offer in having Call of Duty on PSPlus....But Sony of course made the wrong decision....again.
@Weebleman : Forget about the numbers, only one question matters...is Microsoft growing positively thanks to the acquisition....the answer is YES!
They release one that has been better than previous years and people will buy it. Who knew! Maybe more companies should release better quality games.
Actually starting to look forward to doing the campaign when I get to it.

@Major_Player well, the numbers are the whole point of buying these companies so no, don't forget the numbers. None of this means xbox is growing. For all we know the record number of gamepass sign ups on the day a game launched could be 1. That means if 2 people signed up the day COD launched, new record!!
Record users on launch day doesn't give a split of where those users are. If the lowest amount is xbox or gamepass users, that's not good for xbox either as while they get the sale, they really want those subscription sign ups.
Like I say, we need numbers not odd statements. The fact they say there gaming is up 43% and 43 points of that is from ABK is not the good business you think it is. Buying ABK should have put everything up across the board. Subs, hardware, etc... and it isn't. Hardware is actually down again.
None of that is good.
Jesus cheer up lads stop with the negativity this is good news not bad!
@andrewsqual Xbox wins no matter how you try and spin it, where exactly do you think that other 70% of sales go from people who buy COD on the PlayStation? Oh that's right it's to XBOX.
So now you know who is also funding next year's COD development.
Microsoft will also make Billions from the Microtransactions(where the real money is) the cost of marketing is nothing in comparison.
Why would anyone be surprised about hardware sales ? Sony will be giving the PS5 away for anyone who subscripes to PS Plus soon the way they are trying to offload them now.
They can't sell them by relying on big budget AAA First Party releases anymore they can't afford it, instead they now only make one AAA First Party game a year and rely on paying 3rd party's to not release or delay the release of their games to other consoles.
Meanwhile Microsoft are releasing Multiple First Party AAA releases and are keeping the price of the Series X around £435, they don't seem to be in any hurry to offload them.
Imagine how big the franchise will be when Nintendo users are added. This franchise is clearly not fading like many people claimed. The acquisition seems justified.

Remember when Sony gamers said Microsoft would be the end for the Call of Duty franchise?
Well I guess they are eating their foot right about now ...😂
MS being elusive and dressing up their successes as usual.
How about some transparency with your customers Phil? It goes a long way.
@Major_Player Playstation takes 30% of every copy sold on their platform, considering how many millions of copies cod sells on playstation which is sometimes up to 10 million copies, which one would make them more money putting it on ps plus or getting literally hundreds of millions of dollars from every full priced copy sold. so unless Microsoft was willing to pay them TONS of money for the lost revenue of all the sales then there's 0 reasons to put it on ps plus instead of enjoying a ridiculous amount of money just from the sales
i'm curious how did sony make the wrong decision by choosing to make more money
Isn't every new cod the best launch? It feels liek everytime a new cod is released its always the same headline, cod's biggest launch yet etc.
Sony out of all companies they don't care about one time sold copies, they want to retain people through subscriptions, that's why they're pushing so hard for their Live Services as a desperate move to retain gamers....Sony at this point wishes they had at least a third of GamePass subscribers.
One time sales are just that....a one time.
@Major_Player wishes they had a third of gampass numbers? They had 47.4 million subscribers in March 2023, which is just over 13 million more than the gamepass numbers reported in February this year.
One time sales come on top of that.
Obviously you are not up to date....Sony stopped reporting PSPlus numbers for a reason...they are in a huge decline and everyone knows it.
I can surely say with confidence many Psplus subscribers making the change to GamePass for Call of Duty alone.
@BacklogBrad That right there can't be stressed enough. If this (or Warzone) were on Switch it would be a license to print money.
