Alien: Isolation Is Officially Getting A Sequel, SEGA Announces

Out of nowhere, just as the game becomes 10 years old, Creative Assembly and SEGA have announced that Alien: Isolation is officially getting a sequel. The 2014 horror effort has gone on to become a real fan-favourite over the years, and players will no-doubt be delighted by this announcement.

Taking to social media today, the first game's creative director Al Hope put out a message for Alien: Isolation fans as the game's sequel officially gets the green light. Here's that statement in full:

"To our fans around the world: It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of ALIEN: ISOLATION. "

"When we started developing ALIEN: ISOLATION, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.

It’s been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world.

On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.

Once again, thank you.

Until next time, Al Hope, Creative Director – ALIEN: ISOLATION"

As you can see there, this is very much an 'early-in-development' announcement, and as such, there's nothing like a launch window or target platforms ready to unveil here. All we know is that the original teams are working on an Alien: Isolation sequel, which is fantastic news all round!

Back in the day — yes, we can say that about this game now — Pure Xbox scored Alien: Isolation an 8/10 - we definitely dug this take on the Alien franchise back in 2014 and are eager to see where the series goes next.

Who's hyped for this one, then? Tell us your immediate thoughts on this announcement down below!
