A rumour has begun circulating that Microsoft is working on two Transformers projects, both for release sometime this year. The rumour originates from Transformers-focused website TFW2005, which states that it has "received some intel on two video game projects" from Microsoft relating to the Transformers series.
Now, we must express that this is a very vague rumour at this stage - the site itself says that it "does not have any information at the moment" beyond the Transformers codename, and a 2024 release target.
As the rumour also adds, Microsoft has of course fully acquired Activision Blizzard in the last year; a company that has history with Transformers. ActiBlizz published multiple series entries in the Xbox 360 and early Xbox One era - including 2014's Transformers: Rise of The Dark Spark.
Now, if this turns out to be true (and that's a big if), we could see this relating to backwards compatibility in some fashion. Two brand-new Transformers games for 2024 seems incredibly ambitious and highly unlikely, but multiple series entries coming to modern Xbox consoles and potentially Game Pass? That seems a lot more plausible.
Anyway, take all of this with a big old pinch of salt for now, and in the meantime we'll be on the lookout for any more Xbox Transformers news cropping up online in the coming months.
What do we think to this rumour, folks? Anything to it? Talk to us in the comments down below.

Considering the other rumour about MS looking to bring Activision Marvel games back for BC/Gamepass it would make sense they try and get Acti's Transformers games too.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are more "MS trying to get [insert Activision licenced game]" rumours pop up.
EDIT: Forgot Activision published Simpson Hit and Run, so that needs to happen.
Makes sense. War for Cybertron games need to be remastered asap imo.
I don't care if it's just relisting 2 of the 3 delisted Transformers titles from XBO/PS4 - I'll be buying them. Next year is Devastation's 10 Year Anniversary, and weirdly you can still buy the RotDS DLC despite the Escalation Mode it's for being unplayable.
These were not all great games (referring to all games, not Transformers solely), but just bringing back all the licensed games Acti made would be great. I still kick myself for never picking up the Spider-Man games or TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan.
Remasters or backwards compatible if it's this year hopefully remasters they will be on gamepass anyways haha
@Elbow You're honestly not missing anything with the old Spider-Man games, they were great at the time, but none of them hold up. Mutants in Manhattan is still pretty great, though.
Given they are working on two transformers games my conclusion is that they are Transformers War for Cybertron and Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Given that both games likely have the same or very similar engines likely you will see a mired game like Doom 1 and 2. Just a guess though. And in all likelihood they will be for the Series Xbox.
@Rodimusprime13 Could see this, as much as it pains me since RotDS had the best Escalation Mode. Alternatively I guess 'projects' could be pretty broad and not individual things each.
@Rodimusprime13 That's an appropriate username for the subject matter.
@GeneJacket I don't mind dated games, and Shattered Dimensions still seems like a fun time, even if just once through for the novelty. I'm surprised MIM actually took after the IDW comics, too!
@Elbow The problem isn't necessarily that they're dated, which also isn't a big deal to me either, more that they're mostly just not very good. Shattered Dimensions is the one that holds up the best out of that bunch in my estimation but, once Treyarch and Vicarious Visions were relegated to Call of Duty support and Beenox took over Spidey games, there was a big, big decline in quality.
And for MiM, Platinum got Tom Waltz (who wrote the first 100 issues of the IDW run) write the game! I just replayed it last year and really don't understand why people didn't like it at the time, I loved it when it came out and had a blast playing through it again!
@GeneJacket Oh, that's a shame. I swear it was Beenox that made Web of Shadows, and I really liked that game, but I just checked and it's Treyarch (I think primarily, at least). I guess it depends how rushed the others were.
I didn't know Waltz wrote the games plot! I knew they at least had an artist from the IDW series, that's sick. I missed out on MiM since they pulled it from sale so quickly, but I still have Out of the Shadows... ha. If a miracle happens and they pull some of the good TMNT licensed games out of oblivion (would be nice to see Wayforward's TMNT metroidvania game too) I will buy them in a heartbeat.
