Original story: If you've been looking forward to the release of Metaphor: ReFantazio on Xbox Series X|S this October, you'll be glad to hear that Atlus is releasing a free prologue demo today - as announced at Tokyo Game Show 2024.
The demo, which is currently available on the Xbox Korea store (but not anywhere else just yet), is estimated to be five hours long in all, and save data will transfer to the full game when it launches next month.
For those who haven't been keeping track, Metaphor: ReFantazio is the first original project from Atlus development team Studio Zero, with some of those developers having worked on multiple Persona titles in the past.
In the game, you'll find yourself embarking on a "mysterious and exciting" story that revolves around a lost and cursed prince, and it's said to feature a unique battle system that combines turn-based and real-time action.
We'll let you know when the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo becomes available on Xbox worldwide.
"From the creative minds behind Persona 3, 4, and 5 comes Metaphor: ReFantazio, a unique fantasy world, where your protagonist will journey alongside his fairy companion, Gallica, to lift the curse from the kingdom’s lost prince. Control your destiny, face your fears and awaken magical "Archetype" powers that lie dormant in your heart. By awakening to an “Archetype,” you will unlock the power to channel and combine the abilities of unique job classes. Strengthen your bonds and build your party to take down powerful foes and discover the kingdom’s true nature."

I want to give this one a try, but I did not like Persona 5 at all, so I'm skeptical. At least I can give it a shot via Game Pass.
@FarmDog08
This one isn't coming to Game Pass though.
@Lup Thanks for confirming. I must've thought it was confirmed from one of the Directs. My bad. One more I can remove. Back to Yakuza series, hahaha!
@FarmDog08
Unless they announce it at the last moment, haha.
Good luck with Yakuza!
Tomorrow is the TGS after all, lol. On Ch.9 of Yakuza Kiwami. I think I'll play Yakuza 0 before Kiwami 2.
Any ETA on when the UK demo will drop?
@Darylb88 Simply change the country abbreviation in the URL to the country where you live, and that way you can still download it. I changed it to NL-nl instead of https://www.xbox.com/ko-kr/ make it https://www.xbox.com/EN-gb.
Here's the link in full for you https://www.xbox.com/En-gb/games/store/%EB%A9%94%ED%83%80%ED%8F%AC-%EB%A6%AC%ED%8C%90%ED%83%80%EC%A7%80%EC%98%A4-%ED%94%84%EB%A1%A4%EB%A1%9C%EA%B7%B8-%EC%B2%B4%ED%97%98%ED%8C%90/9nwnddxtzh6d
I'm pretty interested in this game, so I may try the demo out.
@bazchillin Managed to download it now, Thanks! I'm guessing they will fully announce this for others tomorrow.
@Darylb88 glad I could help and finally had a reason to create a profile
It's now available everywhere! Article has been updated.
Going to give this a go for sure. On the fence from what I’ve seen and a demo to make my own mind up. Perfect.
The action combat is very much like trails through daybreak it’s a set up for turn based combat(which considering the 8 year development time of this makes you wonder which one came up with the idea first)
