Konami has detailed a pretty huge Metal Gear Solid Master Collection update this week, with brand-new resolution options being a major addition to the bundle here in version 2.0.0.
Now, at this stage, patch 2.0.0 for this MGS collection has only launched on PC via Steam, with the developer saying that the update will be announced for other platforms "at a later date". We'd assume this means the same resolution updates are inbound for Xbox when the time is right, but Konami hasn't been that specific in its initial patch post.
The team has been specific when it comes to the Steam release notes, however. We've got new high-res display options in the game's "Adjusted Mode" for both MGS2 and MGS3 - and we'll show some examples of how they both look at 4K down below, including comparisons to the original resolutions.
There are new controller and mouse & keyboard settings tucked into this update too, which will hopefully be applicable to the console update when it arrives as well. Upon reviewing this collection last year, we thought it felt a bit barebones, but with updates like this and others that have already arrived on Xbox, Konami is putting the work in to steadily improve Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 for all players.
Who's excited for this when it (hopefully) comes to Xbox in the near future? Tell us down below!

Not impressed! Getting sick of all the remasters and remakes of games, this has been the worst generation ever to get any new games. Still making crossgen games with the last generation, and they are already talking about the next system. Geez.
@Gkobz I hear people say this a lot but the reality is there are more new games coming out now than there ever has been in the history of gaming. While each game by each studio may take longer, there are considerably more studios than in the past.
Can you HONESTLY say hand-on-heart that there is nothing good to play? Personally I find there are more games that I want to play released every month that I know I can never get around to. I just can't ever keep up with the pace of releases.
@themightyant Totally agreed.
Back in the day, I remember I only had a handful of games to play on my PS2 (namely, Devil May Cry 1-3, San Andreas, MGS 2&3, Killzone, God of War 1&2, Killer7 and Silent Hill 2).
Between indies, digital distribution (making easier to get games which you can only import in the old days), freebies (like those of the Epic Store and Games With Gold), subscription services and more studios doing more games, I think I am provided for life with great games to play.
"Kept you waiting, huh?"
Stoked!! Bought this when it came out but the resolution and controls kept me away hoping for an update. Here we are and I can't wait! I'm betting they're going to announce Vol. 2 and then drop this update soon!
@Gkobz of course they are already talking about next gen consoles, how else are we going to get PS5 remastered games? I kid i kid, yeah this generation has been a lame duck so far. Hopefully they pull out 1-2 good years and then head into next gen.
It's the same picture lol
Resolution is such a meme
@themightyant i hear ya, for the games i like to play, it’s been a little dry. Also some of the types of games i like just aren’t being made as much cause everything needs to be a soul’s game now. Which i pass on no matter what. However i am someone that log’s in 1000 hours into Diablo 4 and counting. I log big hours into Gears of War. So when those big titles for me do come out i get my money and entertainment out of them 10 fold. So i am still happy with what i have to play, but i do think it’s time for cross gen to slow down and I think it’s time for this generation to get a few of it’s key game that the generation will be know for out to the public soon. Namely one of them will be GTA 6, hopefully still on track for 2025.
Hnngghhhh…That’s good, DAMN good. I want some more!
@GamingFan4Lyf Lol, that line will never get old!
Meanwhile MGS1 still is at 240p lmao
Fingers crossed for update on MGS MC volume 2 soon.
That picture is night and day difference. The one looks so much better then the other. Wow, I am completely Wowed by the screenshot comparison. Just complete fidelity at its finest...Superb... not really
