If you're looking for things to do this weekend, we've got a free beta to make you aware of! This one's for Amazon's upcoming action RPG New World: Aeternum, and it's available to play between September 13th and September 16th.
This beta will include all content up to Level 31 in the full game, and you access it by heading to the New World: Aeternum Open Beta page on the Xbox Store. You can even pre-install it ahead of Friday's start date if you like!
For those who aren't aware, New World: Aeternum is supposedly an "enhanced version" of Amazon Games' open-world MMO from 2021 called New World, revamped to be more single-player friendly with a bunch of improved features.
The full version arrives on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S beginning October 15th, so this free beta is your last chance to decide whether it's worth a buy when it launches in a few weeks' time. Definitely worth trying for free!
"Experience a thrilling action RPG set on the supernatural island of Aeternum. As a shipwrecked explorer who washes ashore on the mysterious island, forge your destiny on an adventure filled with danger and opportunity.
Discover the island of Aeternum: Explore a massive, beautiful world and uncover the secret truth of the eternal island and its strange inhabitants. Endless opportunities to fight, forage, and forge await among the island's wilderness and ruins."

I am in to give it a try.
I would buy this game if my Steam character would be available in the Xbox version. I am not starting over.
I am going to have a look though I don't expect I will buy it at launch. I just don't have time for an mmo right now but it might be a future sale purchase depending on how things go.
One of the few MMOs that have 3rd person action combat. That plus a beautiful world with both PVP and PVE options, makes me excited to try this.
Def had fun with this on xbox when they had a closed beta. I could see myself playing more of this when Im in one of those "I don't know what game I want to play" moods.
I remember hearing all the negative press, but with hindsight and a second chance this game has the making to be very good.
@VoidPunk honestly with the changes they are making it brings out the best things about the game. The game environment is amazing there are spots where I just said wow this architecture is amazing. The story for what I played on pc was decent and now that your able to do more stuff solo it is probably a good rpg. The main problem I had with the game was lack of controller support and sometimes finding a group to do stuff with.
The pvp when my friends were on was ok doing it with strangers sometimes led to dealing with people who were not great.
