The biggest talking point in the Xbox community today centres around a rumour that suggests an Xbox first-party game will be announced for PlayStation 5 next week, although no-one seems to know what it is as things stand.
Some believed it might be Forza Horizon 5, before Windows Central's Jez Corden advised that according to his sources, that's not the case. There's still a belief amongst some apparent insiders that Forza Horizon 5 will be heading to PS5 eventually though - here's what the very reliable eXtas1s had to say (via Google Translate) on social media:
"The announcement? It's the least of it if it happens this week, next week or the next, but [Forza Horizon 5] is coming to PS5 in the coming months as I confirmed in my GIF and as many colleagues have already corroborated."
"[Jez] has his sources and I have mine, and of course I respect his work. But from what I have received, the launch of FH5 is a reality for the coming months. The day it is announced? Nobody cares."
Before everyone jumps on Jez for his reporting, the Windows Central editor did mention earlier today that Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 could be a possibility, but he doesn't believe it's the game that will be announced for PlayStation next week:
"Forza Horizon 5 likely isn't the game being announced next week, although that's not to suggest Forza Horizon 5 won't ever be ported. It would make absolutely insane money on PlayStation, no doubt, and I'm sure Microsoft has Forza Horizon 5 as a candidate for the port treatment."
For what it's worth, Insider Gaming is also reporting that Forza Horizon 5 could be coming to PS5, but it hasn't "been able to confirm when that could happen". eXtas1s suggests that Starfield isn't the game that will be announced for Sony's platform next week, so maybe we can cross that one off as well. Who knows what's in store for us!
How much belief are you putting in these rumours? Will anything happen next week? Give us your thoughts below.

Forza, halo, and gears are pretty much what defined xbox for the better part of a decade. I have a feeling the others will follow suit at some point. Great game though! Love the forza series
Don’t think there is any more need to keep pushing the button.
It was all said and done on this mornings post.
There really isn't a game that makes more sense than forza horizon 5.
I don't really play this one in multiplayer but more user created content sounds good to me.
I'm betting state of decay 2 is the one announced next week. That game also makes a ton of sense.
So its begining of the end…
You know if it was a Bethesda game and such, that would be fine.
But this is FORZA. FORZA!!! One of Xbox’s flagship franchises along with Halo and Gears of War.
If Forza Horison 5 is going multiplatform, then I think Xbox is truly done. Bethesda games are one thing but iconic Xbox franchises are another thing.
The future of Xbox is GamePass. Go ahead and move to Playstation if you want to spend $70 for every game. I will stay on Xbox and enjoy day 1 games while PS players fund future day 1 games for the service.
One of the very few games I thought would never cross over… It’s a flagship property and I thought it was perceived as something worth having an Xbox for…
As already mentioned, if that happens then 1. XBox releases better games on PS5 in 2024 than on their own hardware and 2. XBox helps Sony big time filling the drought of their own studios.
@GhanaViking or just wait a few months and get the games for cheap. Plus, as we now the day 1 stuff will only apply to GPU in the future...
@InheritNegative Anything that is worthwhile will be ported. The only things that will stay exclusive are older games and failures like Redfall. Phil did an interview last year where he said great games won't make people buy Xboxes, so they have no incentive to keep anything exclusive. This idea is stupid on its face, but it gives us a look into their decision making.

We understand all that, but please, please, please do not let the above stop you from making 25 articles about it all 😅😉...
Like I said before, this is the last title I would expect to get a port to PS. It's one of their biggest flagship titles (and my go-to game) but If indeed so, then there is no need for Xbox anymore. The only way I would buy another MS console is when it will be able to play steam/GOG/Epic/etc. games. And if FH5 is going to PS, they might as well make everything multi-platform. Everybody happy, except the loyal hardcore Xbox gamers I think.
The money making is a sure thing but MS will alienate their customers at the same time when they only play on Xbox and see how well they support the PS5 with games. This port will be a big win for PS gamers!
I expect them to put all of their live service type games on everything. It will make Microsoft a lot of money, and incentivize staying in the console space. This isn't a big deal.
Well Tom Warren just said Xbox is gearing up to do their next round of playstation ports so whatever they announce next week is just the start lol.
“Insider”?
Amazon literally made a store page for a ps4 and ps5 port releasing next month before deleting it.
Really is starting to beg the question wtf is the point in the future in getting an Xbox console... eventually all the games will be on playstation aswell
Number 6 please!
@Rog-X Whatever gets announced next week is the start of the second batch.
If this happens I'll cry into my Xbox pillowcase
@MrMagic

You are making this sound like it's a bad thing, it isn't. Except for those people that need constant validation of their console purchase be it Xbox or PlayStation..
Perfect game to bring to other consoles. All of Xbox games are on PC day 1. Don’t get the doom and gloom. Anything to bring more players to a game is great for gamers. Bring them all over I could care less.
@Sifi
If that happens, I'll make a small victory dance in front of my PS5 and Lord it over the Xbox fans on gaming websites
There, I've updated your comment for clarity 😅.

@Sol4ris Except I was basically just repeating what Tom Warren said and I don't care if it hurt your precious feelings, maybe you should just try not to be so sensitive.
Give them all the exclusives lol
Seriously don’t understand why this doesn’t bother some people. Let’s be happy about the death of Xbox and how they won’t be releasing any more consoles if every exclusive is going to be on Sony consoles? What’s there to be happy about with any of this unless you own PS5.
MS really needs to decide, even if it's just a marketing thing, what is the selling point of their console. They're selling it. They need to explain why people should want to buy it. "It's the same price as competitors and plays a subset of the same games nearly as well" isn't a good selling point. They tried to make it Game Pass, but only a subset of console buyers buy game pass and many of them buy only because of mandatory online.
No exclusives is fine. IT's what they wanted for Xbox One, too. That's fine. But what is the unique proposition of Xbox? That's what they're not communicating (or including.)
@GhanaViking this is a fun train of thought as long as you dont follow it too far. Just let everyone play everything, who cares, Xbox has game pass. However hardware sales will not sustain on game pass alone, and as hardware sales go, 3rd party developers will go, as they did to the Dreamcast. Really the only hope for the future at this point is the rumored full blown Windows Xbox hybrid, where the next Xbox plays every PC game and no dev time or decision to support Xbox is required. Otherwise Xbox will have first party, and 3rd party that it bribes into game pass deals, and that's it.
Metro had an interesting point about FH5 - it has a finite lifespan due to the licensed properties in it (see FH4) so why not cash in?
New word seems to be it's not Forza. That being said, we're talking about a 4 yr old game. I'm fine with them making some extra money of it while they can. It will get delisted in a few yrs anyway, so if you played it on Xbox you had much longer to enjoy it. I've played it to exhaustion, like most on Xbox probably already have.
On that note, at this point in the games lifespan, there's noticeably fewer ppl playing it online so a fresh influx of players with crossplay isn't the worst idea.
It would be lethal for Microsoft if Forza Motorsport got ported, but they went with the safer bet of Horizon, giving them a slice of the cake without giving them the entire box.
It would be like if Master Chief Collection went to Playstation. Yes, It's still the series that defined XBOX back on the original XBOX, but it's the games that have made their millions.
Yes, Microsoft is giving up it's big first party pillars, but if they sell well on Playstation, it's not Sony who'll be reaping the rewards.
@Dimey - spot on. I used to come to this site for Xbox news, not Pure BS or Pure PS Rumour. Quite enlightening that there is no mention on this site that this week’s FH5 update includes four new Road Racing events for Xbox players. That’s fact and of interest to Xbox players, why on earth would they want to know such things when it is more fun to spread rumour and gossip?
I miss 2021. Back then we had frequent articles about which games might next be added to the FPS Boost/Backwards Compatibility catalogue. Now we have frequent articles about which exclusive games Xbox will forgo next, how hardware sales are mysteriously on an ever declining trajectory, and how third party developers are increasingly losing interest in the platform. Isn’t 2024 fun?
@GhanaViking This 100%!!!!!!!!!!!
@StylesT Gamepass Ultimate console
@Halucigens you mean you “couldn’t” care any less.
Think about it.
@GhanaViking I gladly pay 70$ for physical games when possible to support my fellow professionals. I understand that subsidized gamepass is a good deal for modern Xbox gamers for now.

@tho_mi Sony aren't having a drought on PS5, you clearly missed just how many games PS5 has been getting this year.
The reality is they didn't need first party when their lineup has been filled to the brim throughout 2024.
First party will apparently be coming next year, along with Death Stranding 2 from Kojima and a bunch of partner releases.
Watch Playstation fans suddenly celebrate how great of a game it is if that happens lol. Could never understand the mentality of console loyalty.
@Mustoe Microsoft makes money from each sale. Multi-platform benefits 'everyone', but the publisher makes a decent cut whatever platform it's on, and that's still going to be Microsoft.
Do you think that Microsoft makes more or less than Sony when a Sony first-party title appears on XBOX?
